Chapter 10: Change

Though her heart had softened, she still maintained a necessary level of caution. 

Although Fei said she would not do anything to her for the time being, who knew if she would break her promise.

Tangled together with Fei on the same bed, Xing Lian remained incredibly alert, terrified that the woman might suddenly strike. 

However, as time passed, she eventually reached her limit. 

Her health was poor to begin with, and the constant mental tension had drained her energy. 

It did not take long for drowsiness to wash over her. 

Her eyelids grew heavy, and she drifted off to sleep before she knew it.

Hearing Xing Lian’s slow, steady breathing, a smile tugged at the corners of Fei’s lips as she leaned down to kiss her cheek.

“Goodnight, my little darling.”

With that, Fei pulled Xing Lian closer into her embrace, nuzzled against her cheek, and closed her eyes. 

Soon, she too fell into a deep sleep.

When Xing Lian opened her eyes again, it was already the next day. 

She had slept quite comfortably. 

Though she was lying in an unfamiliar bed with an extremely dangerous being beside her, waking up in someone’s arms was an experience she had never had before.

As consciousness returned to her body, her surroundings were no longer filled with the familiar, empty void. 

This reassuring warmth gave her a sudden urge to cry. 

When she was very young, before she had grown disappointed in her parents, her heart’s deepest desire had been their embrace. 

She had hoped to fall asleep peacefully in their arms.

But… she hadn’t, not even once! 

They had never even held her! 

She had never experienced the warmth of a relative’s embrace, yet she had unexpectedly received it now. 

Although Fei was not her family, the warmth left a ripple in the depths of her heart.

‘It’s so warm… truly so warm…’

Xing Lian’s eyes shimmered with unshed tears, and her fingers subconsciously tightened as a strange light flickered in her gaze.

Fei had been awake for a long time. 

According to her usual habits, she should have left by now. 

However, with the little one by her side, she found herself craving Xing Lian’s fragrant softness, and she did not want to leave at all. 

When the little thing was asleep, she looked simply too adorable. 

Her eyelashes were like tiny fans, and her lips were a soft, tender pink…

‘Cute, she’s truly too cute!’

Fei stared at the young girl with a burning gaze and could not help but swallow hard. 

At that moment, Xing Lian blinked softly and opened her watery eyes. 

The little one rubbed her eyes dazedly. 

Her emerald-like pupils shifted as if she were thinking of something, and her eyes suddenly grew bright.

“You seem very happy. Did you have a wonderful dream last night?” Fei asked curiously.

‘The little one had looked so gloomy yesterday, but now she was suddenly happy. She must have had a good dream. ‘

Fei’s sudden voice interrupted Xing Lian’s thoughts. 

Because of the warmth the woman had provided, Xing Lian decided to give her an answer.

“I didn’t dream. I just thought of something happy.”

“Something happy? Like what?” Fei pressed.

Xing Lian did not want to answer and averted her gaze.

‘She’s actually refusing to tell me!’ Fei felt a bit annoyed. 

She reached out to cup the girl’s face, leaning down to press a kiss against those pink, tender lips.

“Mmph…”

The sudden kiss startled Xing Lian, and she subconsciously began to struggle. 

However, with her meager strength, there was no way she could break free. 

She was kissed until she was lightheaded before she was finally, reluctantly, released.

“Do you still dare to do that in the future?”

“…”

Xing Lian’s eyes flickered. 

She looked down and remained silent, shrinking her body into the blanket to avoid the question.

Fei did not get angry; in fact, she did not have the heart to be angry right now. 

She hurried out from under the blanket and left, throwing a sentence over her shoulder before she went.

“It’s getting late. I’ll make something for you to eat.”

Her worry that the little one might be hungry was real, but so was her need to escape for a moment. 

She truly liked the little one far too much. 

While kissing her was enjoyable, a simple kiss was clearly not enough to satisfy her desires. 

Fei desperately wanted to have a deeper “exchange” with Xing Lian, but when she thought about the girl’s unrecovered body, she had no choice but to endure it.

Staying by the little one’s side while needing a release she couldn’t have was a form of sweet torture. 

Worried she might lose control, she decided it was better not to stay any longer for the moment.

Xing Lian was unaware of Fei’s inner turmoil. 

After Fei left, she felt much more relaxed, but she also felt a small sense of loss.

‘What am I disappointed about?’

Xing Lian could not figure it out. 

She did not dwell on it and instead began to check herself. 

When they first met, Fei had forcibly pushed her down; in Xing Lian’s mind, Fei was a total pervert. 

Had she done anything to her after she fell asleep last night?

Xing Lian’s face flushed as she felt around under the blanket. 

Her body was clean, and there was no pain or swelling. 

It seemed she had been overthinking things.

Relieved that the thing she feared had not happened, Xing Lian sat on the bed in a daze. 

She did not actually want to just sit there, but she was blind and in an unfamiliar environment. 

Other than staring blankly, there was nothing else she could do.

Fortunately, it was not long before footsteps approached. 

Fei walked into the Mountain Cave, looked at her, and smiled.

“Have you been waiting long? Come with me.”

Fei swept her up into her arms. 

Xing Lian did not want to be carried and voiced a soft protest. 

However, Fei ignored her opinion and carried her out of the Mountain Cave. 

She washed the girl’s face with mountain spring water and then handed her something to eat.

Xing Lian accepted all of it, and the two of them spent three days together like this. 

During these three days, Xing Lian’s emotions fluctuated constantly. 

Because Fei had forced her previously, Xing Lian’s first impression of her was not good. 

But aside from that one instance of coercion, Fei had been exceedingly gentle over the following days.

Fei washed her face in the morning, fed her, took her for walks after meals to help her digestion, and chatted with her to make her laugh. 

Aside from needing her to sleep beside her at night, Fei did not require her to do anything else.

Xing Lian did not actually mind the sleeping arrangements. 

She was terrified of being lonely. 

Having someone to accompany her at night was something she secretly yearned for.

And beyond those things, Fei had done much more for her.

The Mountain Cave they lived in was not large. 

After walking through it a few times, Xing Lian had already mapped out the general layout. 

The cave had been very rugged and unsuitable for human life, but after she moved in, everything began to change.

Knowing that she could not see and was prone to tripping, the cave floor had been covered with plush carpets, and many pieces of furniture had been added. 

Her small bed had long since disappeared, replaced by a large, soft round bed. 

Her daily necessities also gradually increased in number.

Xing Lian “saw” all of this in her heart and was deeply moved, but she also felt confused. 

Fei’s true form was a Six-tailed Fox living in a remote Mountain Cave. 

Xing Lian had originally thought this world was primitive and barbaric, but looking at the refinement of the furniture and daily items, the reality seemed quite different.

This world possessed civilization, and its level of development was not low. 

‘What was this world actually like?’

Xing Lian’s heart was full of questions, but she soon stopped worrying about them. 

Being tenderly cared for by Fei every day and feeling her gentleness and attentiveness, Xing Lian gradually forgot her initial displeasure. 

Her mind could not help but begin to wander.

She had previously thought that Fei viewed her as a prisoner and a tool for lust, but now it seemed she might have been wrong.
