What followed was decadence and corruption. The Wan clansmen exploited the power of the prisoners to commit all manner of evil. They acted as a public umbrella for various underworld industries, reaping massive profits and frantically accumulating wealth. Through this, they established several nations that could not be overlooked.
There was no need to feel pity for the Wan family ancestor’s legacy being ruined by his descendants. The family’s influence continued to grow, even reaching into the territory of Amidal several times. They only showed restraint when faced with the threat of Amidal’s hundreds of slave girls. Even then, they merely stopped antagonizing the strong, remaining dedicated to bullying the weak.
If one felt it was a shame that the descendants of the Great Emperor who created the Abyssal Prison were so terrible, such a thought was entirely unnecessary. This was exactly what that Emperor-level powerhouse had intended. The Wan clansmen were completely blatant about it, declaring that their ancestor created the Abyssal Prison so that future generations could use the prisoners’ strength to revitalize and expand the family.
So, one only needed to know one thing: not a single person with the surname Wan was good. Bai Ya noted that she had learned her lesson.
After understanding the three dark forces, it was the turn of the final major power — the Holy Light Papacy, the only and largest theocratic nation in the world of [SLAVE].
The sect of the Holy Light Papacy was the Holy Light Holy Religion. It was a sect with a long history that worshipped the Goddess of Dominion. This was also the religion with the most believers on the continent. Out of every ten ordinary people, five worshipped the Holy Light Holy Religion, three were faithless, one worshipped the Moonlight Holy Religion, and one worshipped the Evil God Cult.
The largest crusade ever launched by the Holy Light Papacy gathered 10,000,000 believers to form the Holy Light Legion. During this crusade, the legion seemed divinely assisted, remaining invincible and all-conquering. They wiped out the heresy of the Evil God Cult in one fell swoop and even captured an evil god. This greatly intimidated Amidal, the Ancient Abyssal Prison, and the Academy, solidifying the Papacy’s powerful status.
However, that was hundreds of years ago. Today, the interior of the Holy Light Papacy was riddled with corruption. High-ranking clergy spent their time plotting for power and profit, indulging in luxury and debauchery. The Papacy no longer held its former glory, yet it remained a massive entity that required vigilance. The intimidation of that historical crusade still lingered in people’s hearts.
Was there anything else? That was it. Amidal, the most powerful slave empire; the Holy Academy Shifa, a holy land for practitioners; the Ancient Abyssal Prison, a place of exile holding tens of millions of heinous prisoners; and the Holy Light Papacy, the only and largest theocratic nation. These were the four major powers of the [SLAVE] world.
If one was still expecting some righteous force to appear, they would be disappointed. Simply put, in this world of [SLAVE], it was very difficult for good people to survive.
Having understood the basic information of the four major powers, Bai Ya reviewed the remaining four chapters of the plot. She discovered that she would have to deal with these four powers one by one in the future. It seemed there was no escaping it.
‘Soldiers to block the water, earth to cover it,’ Bai Ya thought. She had no intention of bowing before a challenge. On the contrary, she felt a little excited.
After her excitement passed, Bai Ya felt hungry. She lay down on the wooden boards and closed her eyes to sleep. When she woke up, it was estimated to be late at night. She opened the door to the treasure vault and, familiar with the path, moved through the darkness to reach the ship’s galley. She found the food storage area and raided it.
“Taking enough for one person would have been sufficient, but I really don’t want to live with a corpse.” Despite her grumbling, Bai Ya eventually walked back toward the treasure vault carrying several loaves of dry bread and two bottles of wine.
On the way, she noticed a pirate on night patrol walking toward her. Bai Ya hid in the darkness, staying perfectly still. She waited until the person was far away before breathing a sigh of relief and continuing toward the vault.
Once back inside, she climbed over the wall of piled treasure chests and found Yagura hiding in the furthest corner. She lifted his white beret and met his cold gaze.
“Oh dear, honestly, enough already.”
Bai Ya set aside a portion of the bread and wine for Yagura. Then, clutching her own food, she sat on a treasure chest far away from him and began to nibble on the bread in small bites.
Yagura did not hesitate to accept the food Bai Ya gave him. He did not want to die yet; he still had things he had to accomplish while alive. However, to be honest, he found this slave, Bai Ya, harder and harder to read.
‘What on earth is she thinking?’ she was a slave of Amidal, and as a soldier of Amidal, it was inevitable that he would be her enemy. Once his body recovered, she would be in a dangerous position.
After receiving food from Bai Ya for several consecutive days, Yagura finally asked her if she was worried that helping an enemy would bring her trouble. Bai Ya gave him this response:
“Don’t misunderstand. I’m not some bleeding heart. I just do what I want to do. That is my, Bai Ya’s, style!”
After saying that, she wore an excited expression. Yagura felt he might never be able to understand this girl.
After the next incident occurred, he became even more convinced of that idea.
“Darn it, there’s no data on that part. Looks like I need to confirm it.”
The incident happened in the morning. Bai Ya muttered to herself for a moment before turning to look at him. She grinned, baring her canines, and wore an excited smile.
“How many of Amidal’s slave girls do you know? Since we’re bored anyway, why don’t you tell me about them?”
Yagura refused without hesitation. Information regarding Amidal’s slave girls was top secret; it was impossible to reveal it to an outsider!
“Is that so? You can’t say. Then let’s change the question. It’s said that Amidal assigns numbers to its slave girls based on their strength. Can you tell me what the racial bloodlines are for the slave girls numbered 000 to 010?”
Yagura shook his head again. By understanding the racial bloodline, one could, in a sense, understand the characteristics of their racial talents. This was especially true for those eleven ultimate slave girls. As Amidal’s trump cards, anyone who witnessed their racial talents in action had to be killed.
With the frequent wars in recent years, those eleven slave girls had been forced to intervene. The true nature of the racial talents of several slave girls had already been discovered by enemy nations and made public. This included the Law of Life and Death belonging to Number 004, the [Ruler of Life and Death] Rinne Tenki.
Amidal had a countermeasure for this. His Majesty King Spartacus had ordered his subordinates to accelerate the progress of the “God-Making” project. The secrecy level of the “God-Making” project was higher than that of the slave girls’ racial talents, so Yagura only knew of its existence and nothing else.
“Then let’s try another question.” Bai Ya was tireless, still refusing to give up. “The racial bloodlines flowing through the slave girls numbered 000 to 010 — do they belong to the Superior Races?”
Compared to the previous two questions involving top-secret information, this question seemed insignificant. Yagura was misled in that moment and subconsciously nodded.
“I see. Thank you. In that case, some puzzling questions have been resolved.” Bai Ya turned her head away, biting her index finger with a pensive look. Regarding a certain hypothesis, she had now entered deeper thought.
Do slave girls possess an innate advantage? Bai Ya was pondering this question, and she knew she was approaching the answer.
The answer was yes. Slave girls were naturally divided into strong and weak categories. The strength of a slave girl’s racial talent depended on the rarity of the race represented by their bloodline.
Regarding rarity, Bai Ya introduced her own evaluation standards. Lower races were R (RARE), upper races were SR (SUPER RARE), and the top-tier races were SSR (SUPERIOR SUPER RARE). She was, after all, more accustomed to game classifications, and doing it this way seemed very interesting.
R-rank races included Goblins, Slimes, and Ogres. SR-rank races included Merfolk, Elves, Dragons, Orcs, and Dwarves. As for SSR-rank races, they were quite few. Generally, they were special variants of a race or particularly powerful monsters, such as the Azure Dragon, the Demonic Elf, the Angel race, and the Oni race.
In fact, the level of rarity generally determined the strength of their power. The rarer the race, the more terrifying the power they tended to possess.
According to Yagura’s statement, Amidal’s most powerful slave girls — specifically those eleven numbered 000 to 010 — had bloodlines originating from Superior Races. Following this logic, Bai Ya eventually reached a conclusion: when comparing slave girls, an R-rank slave girl was weaker than an SR-rank, and an SR-rank was weaker than an SSR-rank.
Regarding comparisons between slave girls of the same rank, Bai Ya thought deeper. The bloodline of Number 013, the [Evil Dragon Emperor of the Deep Sea] Molly Cingia, was the Sea Dragon race, making her an SSR-rank slave girl. The bloodline of Number 004, the [Ruler of Life and Death] Rinne Tenki, was the Oni race, also an SSR-rank. Bai Ya regretted not witnessing a battle between these two. She only knew that Molly had been at a disadvantage, which did not help her reasoning.
Finding the key to victory against a same-rank slave girl was a crucial matter. Bai Ya could only hope she was lucky enough to discover the answer to this question soon.
In the future, if she continued on this path, she would surely encounter slave girls of the same rank or even stronger ones. Before that happened, she had to prepare a perfect countermeasure!
“Well, without further ado, the pirates should be coming soon.” Bai Ya stopped overthinking and tilted her head to give Yagura a happy smile.
Yagura was confused until he suddenly heard the shouting and cursing of several pirates. The voices were constantly drawing closer.
Danger! Yagura reached out to his side, but his hand found only empty air. He was silent for a moment before glaring fiercely at Bai Ya. No longer hiding his voice, he shouted, “Where is my sword!”
“I’ll consider it my loss if you can find it.”
“Dammit! Did you lead the pirates here?! Why would you do that!”
“Is it even a question? Because I’m going to become a pirate.”
A brand-new page in the chapter of Bai Ya’s life was about to turn!
