The morning passed quickly.
Aside from the general cleaning, it was mostly just the distribution of new books, which Guo Ming took care of.
As for the afternoon, it was the same old, unchanging opening ceremony.
After lunch, the entire student body gathered on the playground, lining up by class to prepare for the onslaught of speeches from the school leadership.
Gu Chen hadn’t intended to go, but Li Yanqiu would definitely come looking for him and nag him to death if he didn’t show up.
He decided to attend just to see what was happening.
If the leaders were too long-winded, he would just sneak away.
“Boss, the results of this year’s school beauty selection are out. Guess who took first place?”
Gu Chen and Guo Ming were in their usual spots at the very back of the line.
Tang Ziya was responsible for maintaining discipline, while their homeroom teacher stood at the very front.
Her professional suit attracted the gaze of almost everyone nearby.
“Who else could it be but Su Yuqing?”
Every class had its own most beautiful girl.
For example, Wang Meng and Tang Ziya from their class were basically in the running for the school beauty title as well.
However, even among school beauties, there was a ranking.
Of course, this ranking wasn’t anything official from the school’s website; it was a spontaneous organization by the boys to vote for their favorite goddess.
Currently, the only one universally recognized as having the highest popularity was Su Yuqing from Class One.
She was even one of the school’s official student representatives.
Both students and teachers liked her very much, so there were never any surprises.
“Haha, that’s true. Su Yuqing is the goddess of the whole school, after all.”
Guo Ming scratched his head, realizing his question was a bit redundant.
The most peculiar thing was that this guy had the ability to turn every pretty girl into a character for his “doujin” drawings, yet Su Yuqing was the only one he had never touched.
It was clear how special her status was.
“I wonder who will be her boyfriend in the future. Just thinking about it makes me feel so much envy and hate!”
Guo Ming muttered with a pouting face, looking like his first love had just been snatched away.
“It definitely won’t be you, anyway,” Gu Chen retorted bluntly.
“That’s for sure. A lackey like me definitely doesn’t have that kind of luck. But you definitely have a chance, Boss. When that happens, those toads will be green with envy.”
“What does that have to do with me?”
“She’s the most beautiful goddess in school, and you’re the school’s biggest bully. It’s a perfect match!”
“Get lost!”
Gu Chen kicked him, too lazy to listen to the guy’s nonsense.
As the music started, the opening ceremony officially began.
The vice principal, sporting a hairline so high it reflected light, slowly walked onto the stage.
He was immediately greeted by thunderous applause.
“Teachers, students, a new semester has begun. I hope everyone can continue to study hard.”
“Regarding the school’s philosophy and planning, here, I’ll just say a few words…”
Su Yuqing possessed a scholarly aura and a strong talent for literature.
Almost all of the school’s promotional materials were handled by her.
Even her writing seemed to possess a kind of magic that was very comfortable to read.
In short, she fit every boy’s fantasy of what a “goddess” should be during their first awakening of love.
“Wow, Su Yuqing is still so beautiful. Dammit, if I could get into the student council, I’d be able to interact with her more.”
Guo Ming was so excited he looked like he was about to pull out a glow stick, his face full of regret.
“Tch, with a girl like that, maybe the side she shows behind the scenes would shatter all your illusions collectively.”
Gu Chen couldn’t quite stand the guy and couldn’t help but complain.
It wasn’t that he disliked Su Yuqing; he just felt the girl was too perfect.
So perfect that it felt unrealistic.
He always felt things weren’t as simple as they appeared on the surface—of course, that was just a guess.
“Boss, you—you can say whatever you want about me, but you can’t say that about Su Yuqing!”
Guo Ming’s face changed, and he became somewhat emotional.
“Fine, fine, pretend I didn’t say anything.”
Gu Chen didn’t know if it was due to his gender change, but his heart didn’t feel a single ripple of excitement.
Taking advantage of the moment, he simply slipped away to find a quiet place to rest his mind.
—
After a day of tossing and turning, the first night of the new semester finally arrived.
In the dormitory, Gu Chen stared fixedly at Guo Ming, observing whether the guy was acting unusual in any way.
To be safe, he had specially brought a tent to school this time, covering his entire bed so tightly that not a single gap remained.
Even though it was just the two of them, he had to be cautious.
Otherwise, if his identity as a woman was accidentally discovered, his reputation for this lifetime would be completely ruined.
He had thought about driving the fat guy away, but he felt that would be a case of ‘protesting too much.’
“Boss, why do you keep staring at me?”
Guo Ming had finished his shower and returned to his bed wearing only shorts.
The layers of fat accumulated on his body looked increasingly oily.
“It’s nothing.”
“By the way, starting this semester, I’m setting a new dormitory rule. You are not allowed to come within a one-meter distance of my bed. Otherwise, I’ll throw you off the building. Do you understand?”
Gu Chen sat on the edge of the bed and denied his staring with a guilty conscience.
He then issued the warning with a serious face, indicating he wasn’t joking.
“Why? I won’t sit on your bed anyway.”
Guo Ming looked puzzled.
He knew Gu Chen was a germaphobe and hated it most when people touched his things, especially personal items.
That was why he had been cautious for the past two years; otherwise, he wouldn’t have survived peacefully until now.
He thought to himself, ‘Has Boss’s germaphobia gotten even worse?’
“Cut the crap. Just follow the rule.”
“Alright, I got it. I promise I won’t.”
Guo Ming put on a smiling face.
He couldn’t help but ask, “The lights are about to go out. Why haven’t you gone to shower yet? There shouldn’t be anyone there by now, right?”
“I’ll go in a bit. Why do you care so much?”
Gu Chen’s face darkened.
Right now, the most troublesome issue for him was the shower situation.
That place was a high-risk zone for his identity being exposed.
How could he possibly have the guts to go there and wash up?
