Chapter 12: Blood Attribute?

“You’re awake?”

Phyllis opened her eyes and realized she was being held in Karola’s arms.

Karola was looking at her with those beautiful red pupils.

Both of them were naked, covered by a blanket.

Phyllis could even clearly feel the intimate contact between parts of her body and Karola’s.

But her mind was not on that right now.

'I fell asleep after Karola drank my blood?'

The first thing Phyllis did upon waking was assess her condition.

After all, the first sensation she felt was weakness.

In her last memory, there was only Karola drinking her blood.

And that sentence: “I’ll drink a bit more today.”

As for anything else, she did not know.

She did not even remember returning to this bedroom.

Phyllis turned her head to glance at the window.

Outside, it was still completely dark.

It seemed daytime had not arrived yet.

'No wonder Karola didn’t go to sleep.'

“Mmm… your scent has grown stronger. It’s more mine now.”

Karola leaned in, her nose brushing against Phyllis’s cat ears as she took a deep breath.

“Scent?”

Hearing Karola’s words, Phyllis lifted her arm and sniffed it. There was only Karola’s faint body fragrance mixed with her own scent. Nothing unusual at all.

“You can’t smell it,” Karola chuckled softly, rubbing her nose against Phyllis’s cat ears. “But other beings will know. You belong to me. Inside and out, you’re marked by me.”

Phyllis’s heart jolted.

Karola’s so called gift felt suspiciously like stamping ownership onto her soul.

'Then what about the Cat God’s blessing?'

Phyllis hurriedly and discreetly opened the system interface to check her status.

She found that the Cat God’s blessing was still there, and she secretly let out a breath of relief.

'Good. As long as the Cat God’s blessing is fine.'

“Then… should I say thanks for the meal, meow?” Phyllis muttered with a hint of sulkiness. “Even though I’m basically food, and you drained me until I passed out…”

“But your body was very honest,” Karola said, tapping Phyllis on the forehead. “You were even begging me to drink more at the end.”

“T That’s not true! That was just blood loss making my mind fuzzy, meow!”

Phyllis’s face instantly flushed red.

She tried to struggle up, wanting to escape Karola’s embrace.

But Karola only held her tighter.

'I touched it… by accident!'

Phyllis’s face grew even hotter.

During her struggle, she had accidentally reached Karola’s chest.

And even reflexively squeezed it once.

Karola, however, did not seem to mind at all.

Sensing Phyllis’s embarrassment, she even took Phyllis’s hand and placed it back against her chest, signaling that she should not worry about it.

'Sometimes, being turned into a girl really does have its advantages.'

Phyllis could not help but sigh inwardly.

“What are you thinking about?”

Karola’s voice sounded by her ear, interrupting her thoughts.

“N Nothing, meow!” Phyllis shrank her neck. “I was just thinking… about what fish to eat tomorrow.”

She made up an excuse on the spot.

“Fish?” Karola gently stroked Phyllis’s chin. “The castle’s cold storage has plenty. Sea fish and river fish. Just tell the puppet attendant which kind you want.”

“Really? Any fish at all, meow?” Phyllis’s eyes lit up. Her foodie instincts temporarily overwhelmed her fear of Karola.

“Careful,” Karola said, pinching Phyllis’s suddenly lively little face. “As long as you stay here obediently, whatever you want, I can give you.”

That sentence set off alarm bells in Phyllis’s mind.

A classic case of offering sweetness while reminding you that you are in a cage.

“Oh…”

Phyllis replied dully. Her tail swayed unconsciously beneath the blanket, even brushing against Karola’s calf.

“Sleep a bit more. Dawn is almost here, and I should rest too.”

Although Karola said good night, she did not release Phyllis. Instead, she adjusted her position so that Phyllis rested on her arm, while her other hand lay around Phyllis’s waist. The two of them formed a tight embrace.

Phyllis’s body stiffened slightly, but she did not dare move again.

Karola’s unique scent lingered around her nose. In this strange and forced intimacy, exhaustion and weakness surged back up, and her eyelids gradually grew heavy.

Drowsiness washed over her like a tide.

When Phyllis woke again, squinting against the slightly harsh light, it was already close to noon.

She touched her lips.

Karola’s scent still lingered there.

It seemed that before leaving in the morning, Karola had kissed her once.

'What am I even savoring? Wake up, Phyllis!'

Phyllis did not get out of bed.

She buried her face into the pillow, avoiding the annoying brightness.

Then she opened the system interface to check her attributes.

'Name: Phyllis'

'Race: Catfolk'

'Attributes: Strength 15 Defense 15 Agility 25 Intelligence 10 Luck 7 Charm 25'

'Status: Healthy'

'Talents: Feline Agility (Intermediate), Night Vision (Intermediate), Keen Smell (Intermediate)'

'Skills: Claw Strike (Basic), Stealth (Beginner)'

'Special: Blood Clan Master Servant Contract; Cat God’s Blessing; Karola’s Gift'

“My defense increased?”

Phyllis stared at her defense stat, which had risen from eight to fifteen. A bold guess formed in her mind.

'Could it be that every time Karola drinks my blood, one attribute increases at random?'

This was not an unreasonable thought.

After receiving Karola’s gift, she had already noticed through the system panel that her attributes had been randomly increasing.

Sometimes it was strength… sometimes even luck or charm.

Phyllis had suspected this before, but she had not been certain.

Over the past few days, she had been experimenting to find the cause.

And she discovered that every time Karola drank her blood, her attributes increased randomly.

“I wonder if there’s an upper limit to this increase. If there isn’t…”

Phyllis grew excited just thinking about it.

Wouldn’t that mean that as long as she let Karola drink her blood every day, she could keep stacking attributes?

Once her stats reached a certain level, quantitative change would lead to qualitative change.

When her attributes far surpassed Karola’s, wouldn’t she be able to escape this castle with ease?

At that point, who could possibly stop her from leaving?

The only thing she did not know was where the limit lay.

Phyllis felt there was a strong possibility that it could not exceed Karola’s own attributes.

But… what if it could?

At the very least, it was something to hope for.

Moreover, she planned to visit the library every day to read books about master servant contracts.

She would do her best to find a way to解除 them.

Multiple preparations were always better.

“It’s just…”

Phyllis touched her lips again.

Karola’s scent still lingered there.

Why, after these days, was she starting to feel reluctant to part with Karola? Could it be that…

She had fallen in love with Karola?

That kind of thing…

How could it be possible?
