“Ugh…”
Noxia let out a soft hum beside her, rolling over as her arm rested unconsciously across Lorevil’s waist.
Lorevil watched her wife’s sleeping face from inches away.
To be honest, she was most worried about Noxia. However, judging by her wife’s passionate performance last night, her blackening value probably wouldn’t be too high.
As for Catherine, even if they crossed paths, it did not matter that there was no health bar to check.
The most threatening one, Mahina, had been stabilized for the time being.
Rising from her wife’s soft body, Lorevil, nursing a slight headache, leaned down and lightly kissed the sleeping Noxia.
‘It’s better to be careful.’
After a moment of thought, Lorevil changed into a simple, sharp black uniform.
She sent a message to Madam Sharon, and once she received confirmation, she headed toward the woman’s home.
—
“Good morning, Madam Sharon,” Lorevil greeted as she entered the house, moving with the familiarity of a frequent guest.
“Good morning, Miss Lorevil. You’ve arrived quite early.” Madam Sharon sat regally on a velvet sofa in the living room. She lifted her moist eyes and responded with a gentle tone.
Today, the madam wore a floor-length, wine-red gown that made her well-maintained face appear even more glamorous. Beneath the long dress was a curvaceous figure, with long legs extending from her full hips.
Her white jade-like ankles peeked out from under the red hem as she moved, looking incredibly playful and seductive.
Clearly, the madam was very happy to see Lorevil.
But Lorevil, the veteran heartbreaker, remained unmoved.
After meeting with her wife, even the mature and beautiful Madam Sharon could not shake her resolve in the slightest…
“Since I promised you, Madam, I will certainly take this seriously.”
Lorevil’s attitude was a bit more distant than before, adopting a business-like tone.
She vaguely felt that Madam Sharon’s attitude toward her was overly warm, exceeding the boundaries of a normal partnership.
“Sit down.”
A flash of disappointment and confusion flickered in Madam Sharon’s eyes.
Why was Lorevil even colder than during their first meeting? Had something she hadn’t anticipated happened after they parted?
Or did she already know…
Perhaps it was this distance that made her feel a bit listless.
“Huu…”
Madam Sharon picked up a slender blood cigarette and lit the tobacco.
A pale red mist drifted up as the tobacco burned, making the expression hidden within the smoke even more inscrutable.
“Is that a blood cigarette?”
Lorevil frowned, as she did not like the smell. “You should smoke less, Madam. That stuff is bad for your health.”
Long-term use of blood cigarettes could provide a mental boost, but it was harmful to Vampires.
“Are you worried about me?”
Madam Sharon’s eyes lit up, her voice carrying a hint of excitement.
“If that is what you believe, Madam, then I am.”
Lorevil always felt as if Madam Sharon cared a great deal about her feelings.
Was there some connection between her original family and this woman?
She wondered if she should use today’s slot on Madam Sharon.
After thinking it over, Lorevil decided against it.
In her memory, Madam Sharon didn’t have much of a bond with her; at most, they were familiar strangers.
There was neither guilt nor obsession. Even if her ability was triggered, there was a high probability that it wouldn’t mean much.
“Then I won’t smoke for now.”
Madam Sharon seemed to brighten up as she extinguished the blood cigarette. “Regarding the ball tonight, I have a few more details to go over with you.”
“Tonight’s guests are all upper-class figures of the Vampire race, along with several distinguished guests from Holy Blood Academy.”
“Teacher Catherine will also be attending. Since you have a history with her, you must host her well when the time comes.”
‘Catherine?’
Lorevil’s heart sank instantly, and her pretty face quickly stiffened.
If Catherine was attending a ball for nobles, it likely had something to do with the nobility. The rumors that Catherine was related to a certain Vampire Archduke were clearly not baseless.
Recalling how she had rejected Catherine without hesitation during their first meeting, Lorevil could imagine Teacher Catherine’s spectacular expression even without seeing it.
If Catherine ran into her at the ball, she might even question or give her a hard time.
Lorevil had been impulsive at the time, wanting to cut ties quickly. Had she known this would happen, she would have taken things more gradually instead of making the relationship so tense.
“I’ll go back and inform my fiancée. I’ll stay at your house for the day, Madam,” Lorevil said with a sigh, suppressing the surge of surprise in her heart.
She felt it was necessary to chat with the madam to get a better sense of the people attending the ball so she could prepare in advance.
“There is no need for such trouble. I’ll find a servant to pass the word along.” Madam Sharon uncrossed her legs and nonchalantly ordered a butler to deliver the message.
The butler immediately set off to carry out the task.
Seeing Madam Sharon’s practiced efficiency, Lorevil nodded slightly.
Madam Sharon was no different from the powerful career women Lorevil had seen in her previous life. The only difference was that Madam Sharon was far more bewitching, and every small gesture she made while speaking was incredibly alluring.
Lorevil had to summon every ounce of her concentration just to respond to the woman’s words.
Particularly the way her hips sank into the surface of the sofa, creating a seamless silhouette with a slightly outward curve—it was difficult even for a prepared Lorevil to look away.
She only hoped the madam hadn’t noticed her disrespectful gaze.
At this moment, Lorevil did not know that Madam Sharon held many prestigious reputations within the circle of Vampire noblewomen…
After finishing her orders, Madam Sharon looked at the dazed Lorevil. She pursed her red lips as if in secret delight and said, “Alright, if there is nothing else, I will continue.”
“Oh, right.”
Lorevil snapped out of it upon hearing those words. She happened to meet Madam Sharon’s half-smiling gaze, and her face flushed with embarrassment.
She followed with a quick nod.
“Madam, please continue telling me what I need to do for the ball.”
“When the time comes, you just need to make a brief appearance. You’ll need to reject those dance partners who invite me,” Madam Sharon said, her smile fading into a serious expression and tone.
“And then, you only need to dance one dance with me.”
Lorevil was stunned for a moment. She looked at the madam’s exquisite face and said with some surprise, “That sounds very simple.”
“If I can’t even get those people to restrain themselves by using the influence of the family behind you…” Madam Sharon narrowed her long, slender eyes, releasing a dangerous aura through her slightly parted red lips.
“Then wouldn’t all my painstaking efforts be in vain? I wouldn’t take a favor from you and then force you to stand at the very front.”
“I see.”
Seeing the madam’s reaction, Lorevil scratched her nose, feeling even more awkward.
Even though she was the family heir, she didn’t actually have a say in family affairs yet. The elders and her parents were still around.
To put it bluntly…
Aside from her noble status, Lorevil was just an ordinary student at Holy Blood Academy. Her strength was only a mediocre Level 2, incomparable to the top students who were on the verge of breaking through to Level 3.
As for wealth, those blood crystals wouldn’t be anything in Madam Sharon’s eyes, let alone to the socialite nobles attending the ball.
Where would she get the power to actually intimidate those nobles?
It would be a blessing if she wasn’t laughed at. Thinking of this, Lorevil sighed helplessly.
“There is one more thing I should mention.”
A rare trace of unease appeared on Madam Sharon’s gentle face as she spoke. “I have a very persistent suitor.”
“His name is Samuel.”
