Bai Lili and the others had been in the cave for a while when they noticed the wolf’s howls were getting closer. Qing Hanyin gradually realized something was wrong. In other words, this Long Chen knew their location and was deliberately leading the Thunder Wolf toward them. Qing Hanyin understood now—this Long Chen was up to no good. He had probably used some special method to find them, intending to hand this powerful enemy over to them, waiting for the moment when both sides were weakened.
Then he would appear to beautifully enjoy the role of the hero saving the damsels. But Qing Hanyin and the others weren’t fools. Every crisis so far had been caused by him. Not blaming him was already being generous. If anyone still developed feelings for him after this, she had nothing to say. Nearby, Lilith and Su Ruo were warily watching the cave entrance.
“Qing Hanyin, didn’t you say this place would provide cover?” Lilith said discontentedly.
“Now’s not the time for infighting. The space here is too small. Let’s go outside,” Su Ruo commanded calmly.
“Lili, stay here. His target is likely the three of us,” Qing Hanyin stated coolly.
Bai Lili opened her mouth but didn’t know what to say. Her main role was still auxiliary healing; she didn’t have any real front-line combat ability.
“Then… alright then. Be careful,” Bai Lili said, knowing they were doing this to protect her. All she could do now was pray for them.
The three of them—Lilith, Su Ruo, and Qing Hanyin—stepped out of the cave entrance and immediately saw a wolf wreathed in lightning charging toward them. The three scattered, dodging the Thunder Wolf’s electrical bursts. Qing Hanyin scanned the surroundings, trying to find the hiding Long Chen. She spread out her mental energy, sensing the area, and finally detected Long Chen’s presence.
Long Chen was currently sitting in a tree, watching the battle involving Lilith and the others. He suddenly spoke.
‘System, what do you think of this move? Let them fight until they’re both weakened, then I’ll step in for a heroic rescue.’
But in a place unknown to Long Chen, another figure was also observing his every move.
“This Long Chen requires focused observation. If there’s any sign of wrongdoing, execute him immediately. His intentions are not righteous, and with two S-Class abilities, someone like him is nothing but a future calamity. Better to eliminate him sooner rather than later.”
That person ordered the people beside him to focus their observation on Long Chen.
“Yes, Dean!!!”
The Dean smiled and continued observing Lilith and the others.
“This Lilith is quite interesting. Although she has something else attached to her, she hasn’t used any heaven-defying methods to accomplish it.” Then she looked at Qing Hanyin.
“This Qing Hanyin is actually a reincarnated person? And she’s discovered Long Chen’s existence. Interesting.”
The Dean laughed heartily, though those on Lilith’s side couldn’t hear it.
Lilith and Su Ruo were facing the Thunder Wolf ahead. They were at a stalemate, neither side making the first move. The Thunder Wolf also seemed to realize these two weren’t the one it was initially after, but it still watched them warily.
Qing Hanyin, meanwhile, used eye contact to communicate to them that this monster had been lured here by someone, and that person was nearby.
Although they usually didn’t get along, in a crisis, they had to present a united front against an external threat. Besides, there were likely teachers observing from the surroundings right now. There was no real danger to their lives, but they would still get injured if they weren’t careful.
The teachers would record their performance and intervene to protect them at the appropriate time.
Right now, Qing Hanyin was thinking about how to flush this Long Chen out. Letting him sit up there and watch the show would be letting him off too easily.
So, Qing Hanyin attempted a mental attack. Long Chen’s body swayed, and he fell from the tree.
“Ah!”
Everyone heard his scream. The Thunder Wolf, hearing this sound, immediately remembered the person who had ambushed it. It then released a surge of electricity toward Long Chen, its body wrapped in a powerful current as it charged at extreme speed, determined to make this person pay.
Long Chen dodged sideways at the last moment, but he was still badly jolted by the strong current surrounding the wolf. He then shouted toward Lilith and the others.
“Let’s team up to deal with it!”
Lilith glanced at Long Chen with disdain.
“Its target is you. Why should we help? Besides, you’re the one who led it here, right?”
Su Ruo, on the other side, added.
“The books say Thunder Wolves are neutral toward humans and generally don’t attack them proactively. Clearly, you were the one who provoked it.”
“We have no obligation to help you.”
Su Ruo looked at Long Chen with cold indifference.
Qing Hanyin secretly observed Long Chen’s every move.
‘In this kind of training, teachers usually observe from the shadows. If you don’t have the strength, you should just give up quietly. Yet you led a powerful enemy to us. Did you want us to fight until we were both weakened so you could step out for a heroic rescue?’
Qing Hanyin sneered coldly.
Bai Lili, listening to the commotion outside, peeked out of the cave entrance a few times. She suddenly felt this male lead seemed like a pathetic clown.
He proactively stirred up a crisis he couldn’t perfectly resolve himself, then got others to help wear it down for him, so he could finally enjoy others’ praise and the spoils of victory.
Bai Lili seriously doubted if someone like this could really be the male lead. If he was, then this world probably wasn’t far from destruction.
Seeing his plan exposed, Long Chen still wanted to put on an act to gain sympathy. Who knew the Thunder Wolf’s assault would become even more ferocious? In just an instant, the tree behind him was electrocuted into charcoal.
Long Chen couldn’t care about anything else now and began fleeing madly, his figure utterly狼狈, like a stray dog with its tail between its legs.
Watching the Thunder Wolf chase Long Chen away, Bai Lili came out from the cave. Lilith and the others hadn’t sustained any injuries. Looking at the male lead now, Bai Lili really felt he deserved a big red nose.
Not long after, Bai Lili and the others completed their task and emerged, only to find Long Chen lying unconscious, thoroughly electrocuted. The teachers had indeed been observing from the shadows, but they also wanted to teach him a lesson—not to proactively provoke opponents far stronger than himself.
Bai Lili stretched lazily, indicating she could finally go back and rest. She really didn’t want to stay here a moment longer.
