“Meet the shining leads of the drama ‘Love Some,’ coming with the warm spring.”
The production presentation MC introduced us, and we went up to the stage one by one, sitting at our named seats.
Not many came….
This was my second production presentation. The first was ‘Three Meals in the Countryside,’ and back then a much larger space was packed with reporters. But now, empty seats were easy to spot.
Because of that?
‘Three Meals in the Countryside’ was a famous variety, but the reason for so many empties was probably the K network drama presentation starting 30 minutes ago. They had more popular, experienced celebs than us two, so reporters flocked there.
Disappointing.
I didn’t expect massive hype, but seeing empties was bitter. So I was even more grateful to the reporters who came for us.

And in the reporter seats, I saw Woodeuk sitting with a laptop in front.
Woodeuk must’ve felt my gaze, as he smiled brightly.
Right after our light eye greeting, the MC started right away.
“To the reporters in front of our director and actors, please give a light greeting and introduction.”
“Yes, hello. I’m the director of ‘Love Some’…….”
The presentation continued with role intros, highlight video reveal, and explanations of differences from webtoon to drama.
“Focusing on that part will make it more fun to watch.”
“Ooh~ Just hearing makes me excited already. You can meet this fun drama on April 8! …… Now, we’ll take a few questions from the reporters.”
Ah, this time again.
Reporter question time came without fail.
Having gone through it once before, I was tense about what they’d say this time.
“I’ll ask the director and Haewon-ssi. First, Director, you cast Hyunjae-ssi through audition— are you satisfied? Any anxiety about casting a rookie as lead?”
The reporter pointed out me being a rookie.
“And for Haewon-ssi, you’re in your late 20s but playing a high schooler. Any special efforts? Curious if the 7-year gap with Hyunjae-ssi caused any generation differences.”
Clearly sniping Haewon for being old, I hid it but felt uncomfortable.
Since when is acting about age?
Sure, she was older than me, but that didn’t mean she didn’t suit the role. She fit Jaehee’s role better than anyone.
“Uh…… First, we cast Hyunjae through audition, and during shooting I understood why the public chose him. And though a rookie, he showed seasoned acting not at all rookie-like, and I’m extremely satisfied.”
“Hahaha, Director says very satisfied. I watched that audition program live too, and seeing the acting made me choke up along with it.”
“Thank you~”
The MC cleverly shared his experience to hype me.
“And next, shall our Haewon-ssi answer the question?”
“Uh…… I am 7 years older than Hyunjae-ssi…….”
Haewon glanced at me, smiling awkwardly as if embarrassed.
“But it doesn’t show, right? I forgot too, but thanks to the reporter for reminding me.”
While Haewon hesitated briefly, I quickly grabbed the mic and spoke.
“Well, Haewon-ssi is such a babyface after all?”
“Thank you. Special efforts I made…… I went to dermatology diligently.”

Honest answer from Haewon drew laughs from the reporters.
“I’m just grateful to the director for putting me in uniform. And Hyunjae-ssi took such good care of me, with his mature personality, so I didn’t feel the age gap much. Right?”
“Yes, in uniform together we felt like friends, and sometimes like a younger sibling.”
“Younger sibling?”
At younger sibling, Haewon looked at me with wide surprised eyes.
“Haewon-ssi is bright and bouncy, so she was the set’s mood maker.”
“Aww~ You two actors are so heartwarming. Then next question? Reporter over there?”
“Yes, question for Kim Minjun-ssi. Last time there was acting controversy— can you shake it off in this drama? Curious how you got cast as Doyoon after failing public audition.”
Reporters must’ve coordinated today— questions were intense.

Even though not about me, it was hurtful. His acting wasn’t that bad to warrant controversy talk?
“Uh…..”
Minjun rolled his eyes, dragging words, unable to hide panic.
“Uh…… Felt lacking from last acting so put in more effort…….”
Seeing struggling Minjun, the director grabbed the mic and stepped in.
“He kept studying the script on set, super passionate and proactive. I was won over by that and cast him, and you’ll see that in the drama too.”
Still, I thought it was going somewhat warmly, but this presentation felt like walking on thin ice. A few more sensitive questions passed, and the last was from Woodeuk.
“Question for Jung Hyunjae-ssi. You’re eyed as a notable rookie, promising actor— your thoughts, and if you have ambitions or goals ahead, please share.”
“First, thank you so much to everyone seeing me positively.”
I stood and bowed.
“I’ll work harder to meet your expectations with my acting. And right now, my goal is…… I’d like my face on a billboard.”
“Huh?”
“What? Billboard?”
My answer was unexpected, causing a stir among reporters.
“Billboard?”
“Yes, my goal is to have my face on a billboard, as big as possible.”
“Hahaha!”
“Ah~”
Thinking it like a kid saying ‘I want my face on TV~,’ reporters burst laughing and nodded.
“Fun answer. Then we’ll wrap Q&A here. Lastly, a word each please.”
Finally, we asked to watch the drama well, and the presentation ended.
“Answer I never expected— even I was surprised.”
After, Woodeuk came to greet me.
“Why? Was my answer weird?”
“I expected stuff like winning rookie award or being an actor by your side long-term.”
“Those answers are too cliché, right?”
They were cliché, and far from my real goal.
“Questions are for cliché answers. Mood today was off, right?”
Woodeuk threw a cliché question to neutralize the sensitive vibe.
“Right. I was thrown off.”
Straight-up age attacks, bad acting talk…… Questions hard to come in a promo event.
“They’re the bad ones. Ignoring cuz filler slot, male lead, sub male, writer all rookies, and female lead not super popular.”
Woodeuk’s words made me angry instead. What is popularity that they ignore people like this?
“Too much. Internal reviews were good so slot came fast.”
“What do reporters care? Plus your competition is strong.”
Our competition was the one presenting elsewhere, premiering same day.
‘Run, Kim Moowon!’
Story of a grade-9 civil servant’s life, starring veteran Cha Taesoo and 1st-gen idol actor Yoo Min. Definitely ahead in recognition and popularity.
“Thanks for coming today.”
“Of course, between us~ But highlights were well-done?”
“Right?”
“Yeah, screen tones pretty, style kids will love.”
“Hope so.”
As youth drama, our target was teens to 30s.
“Don’t worry, you came out handsome.”
“Webtoon original, so worked to match sync.”
“Know if ratings over 5%, your treat?”
Director set 5% as goal. 5% is average for Mon-Tue drama.
“Got it.”
“Yeah, good work today, I gotta go for work.”
“Yes~ Thanks for coming!”
Woodeuk left the waiting room with his laptop bag. And premiere date approached fast.
