Compared to other races and professions, a dragon's advancement is extremely simple. There are no difficult advancement quests, nor is there a need to gather complex advancement materials. All they have to do is drink pure dragon blood—infused with raging magic that only dragons can withstand—then enjoy a good, blissful sleep.
However, the problem is, no one knows just how long that nap will last. It could be as short as an hour, or as long as a full day. Bai Yue Ling knew all too well about this unpredictability, which was why she wanted Lie Lie to put away the dragon blood for now and wait until they got back.
Who could have guessed that this foolish dragon would just drink it down in one gulp!
“Mm!”
Lie Lie suddenly let out a muffled whimper and curled up weakly, her slender tail wrapping once around her butt. She gently hugged her knees, her soft chest pressed flat by her plump thighs, resting her face on her knees as she quietly closed her eyes.
It wasn't long before faint crimson flames began to flicker and dance from Lie Lie’s body, burning quietly, making her look from afar like a tiny, wavering fire.
Gradually, the flames went out, replaced by a thin membrane, like an eggshell or a cocoon, slowly enveloping the Red Dragon Princess’s delicate body and sealing her off from all contact with the outside world.
Within this thin membrane, Lie Lie’s dragon age would rapidly accelerate under the catalysis of the dragon blood, going from “juvenile” to “youth.” Not only would her body become larger, her magic would grow even more potent. When she broke free of the membrane, she would officially become a level 21 Young Red Dragon.
During this process, all Bai Yue Ling and the others had to do was wait.
Bai Yue Ling had Jelly carefully wrap Lie Lie up and slowly move her to the deepest part of the tomb.
This spot was directly behind the Bone Dragon, a blind spot in its field of vision. As long as they didn't make too much noise, there was no way they'd be discovered.
Bai Yue Ling then told Jelly to expand a bit, transforming into a black slime room, which finally put her at ease.
“Don’t worry, this room is soundproof. Everyone can talk as much as you like.” Bai Yue Ling said.
Zijing Yue sat down lightly, her wide, shapely hips pressing into the slime floor, but instead of being squished flat, they retained their perfect roundness—almost as if a pair of gentle hands were supporting them.
“What an amazing room.” Zijing Yue patted the soft, moist, and slippery slime floor, marveling, “Slimes really are so versatile. No wonder Little Bai and Miss Ying Ye did that sort of thing in here before.”
Vicky, on the side, immediately caught on to something odd. “What sort of thing?”
“The kind of thing girls in their adolescence like to do together.” Zijing Yue replied with perfect candor, “As a succubus, I can sense those kinds of waves of desire. That’s what drew me here—I thought I’d found another one of my kind, and that’s how I found Little Bai.”
“Is that so?” Vicky gave Bai Yue Ling a cool glance. “So there were other women? Even though you already have Aya and Shiqianla, that’s still not enough?”
Of course it’s not enough, I’m still thinking about Her Majesty Qingjin and Miss Huilian... Bai Yue Ling answered this instinctively in her heart, but out loud she said, “Ahaha... Actually, I didn’t do anything—it was all them coming on to me. I’m really troubled about it, you know.”
Zijing Yue giggled, “Little Bai, you sound just like a playgirl now. Some of the precocious bad girls at school say that kind of thing all the time.”
“No, no, I’m not like those people.”
The difference is, those bad girls rely on their nimble fingers, but in front of a big sister, Bai Yue Ling could only rely on her flexible waist.
Bai Yue Ling hurried to change the subject. “Anyway, how’s that arrow?”
Hearing this, Zijing Yue produced the “Goddess of Enchantment’s Arrow of Chaos” and said, “It’s vibrating more and more fiercely. The inheritance really is buried deep underground.”
“Even deeper than the dragon’s tomb?” Bai Yue Ling frowned a little. She’d already found Lie Lie’s dragon blood, yet the Succubus Queen’s inheritance was still nowhere in sight.
They were currently somewhere within a mountain of the Coiling Dragon Range; if they went any deeper, wouldn’t they end up in the Underworld?
But Zijing Yue insisted that the arrow had guided her from the surface all the way here... She really couldn’t figure out what this “Goddess of Enchantment” was up to.
Zijing Yue handed the arrow over. “Little Bai, you keep it for now.”
Bai Yue Ling was surprised. “Aren’t you afraid I’ll just run off with the arrow?”
“After watching you for half a day, I don’t think you’re that kind of person.” Zijing Yue smiled and shook her head. “Besides, I can tell you really need this arrow, and you know a lot more than I do. It’ll be put to much better use in your hands.”
“Then I’ll gladly accept it.”
After that, the three of them could do nothing but wait, and no one knew how much time had passed, yet there was still no sign of movement from Lie Lie.
“Are we really going to have to wait here a whole day...?”
Just as Bai Yue Ling was starting to nod off, Vicky seemed to sense something. She turned, parted the slime wall, and stared into the deep darkness outside.
“Be careful, there’s movement outside.”
The words jolted Bai Yue Ling wide awake, and she hurried over as well.
In the darkness, a group of people in black robes entered the tomb, carrying torches. Behind them, they dragged more than a dozen strange red boxes, setting them up around the perimeter of the tomb in grand formation.
Strangely, the Bone Dragon was still lying there, apparently unaware of their arrival.
“Why isn’t the Bone Dragon reacting?” Zijing Yue asked, puzzled.
“Because they’re holding a tool that temporarily blocks undead creatures’ senses,” Bai Yue Ling explained.
Amidst the black-robed figures was a tall, elegantly dressed woman holding a lantern, its dim circle of light enveloping everyone nearby.
If you followed the normal process to enter a dragon’s tomb, you’d find various equipment, items, and skills in the front chambers to help fight the undead—things like “Undead Must Die,” “Shadow Lantern,” and “Dispel the Undead.”
What the black-robed group carried was precisely the “Shadow Lantern.” So long as they remained within its glow, any sounds they made would go completely unnoticed by the undead outside.
“The one holding the lantern in the middle, I know her,” Vicky whispered. “She’s a very famous minister in the Holy Nation, and also a bishop in the Church of Order. She’s extremely radical, and often puts pressure on our kingdom at the border.”
Bai Yue Ling frowned slightly, watching how all the black-robed figures looked to the central minister for orders, and muttered, “Could these black-robed people really be a secret force supported by the Holy Nation?”
She hadn’t expected that a country devoted to the various goddesses would secretly collect objects infused with divine power... Just what was the Holy Nation plotting?
Suddenly, Bai Yue Ling noticed the black-robed people were circling the edges of the tomb, setting a red box every so often.
At this rate... they’d reach their hiding place sooner or later.
Bai Yue Ling frowned. “No, if this keeps up, they’ll find us.”
Vicky considered, “We could destroy that Shadow Lantern. Then the Bone Dragon would detect and attack them... but how do we do that?”
Zijing Yue stood up, drawing a purple crystal longbow that shimmered in the dark. “Leave it to me. I’m an archer.”
Half her body leaned out, locking on tightly to the central Shadow Lantern, then she loosed an arrow—
Thwack!
The arrow traced a pale violet arc through the air, piercing the Shadow Lantern perfectly.
Before the startled eyes of the black-robed group, the Shadow Lantern flickered, then gradually dimmed and went out.
Almost at that very instant, the Skeletal Dragon abruptly twisted its head around, ghostly blue fire blazing in its eyes as it fixed the black-robed people with a deathly, bone-chilling stare.
