Thinking about it I immediately took action.
Hateful Ghouls are dark-type creatures. The black crystals produced from mining dark elements in the Demon King’s Castle during this period were already sufficient.
Moreover the Black Prison Forest dungeon now provided related materials as well.
Therefore after advancing two Hateful Ghoul elites to boss level there was still plenty of black stone left in the warehouse.
However I only had two black fragments left from the demonized elites so I chose not to continue advancing any further.
Besides whether it would truly work as I had guessed was still uncertain. Fortunately this question was answered after Kai and the others killed one of the demonized Hateful Ghoul bosses.
“It really works!”
Seeing the Ghoul boss that had been killed now listed in the cemetery building’s revival queue still retaining its demonized state I no longer hesitated and had Kai and the others finish off the remaining Ghoul boss as well.
Their strength was at least thirty to forty percent higher than before. Even without any further manipulation from me these two boss monsters with demonic abilities would become quite the deadly weapons once their revival cooldown ended and they were released into the Bright Faction.
But right now something else was clearly more important.
System: Quest “Trial of the Radiant Chapter (Four)” accepted.
As expected the final requirement was to deal with a commander-level demonized creature. If I hadn’t discovered this unique method I doubted any player could have achieved it within ten days.
Looking at the latest text in the quest log I pursed my lips. “What a twisted quest.”
“Your Highness so what do we do next?”
What else could we do? Of course we would continue with the previous method.
Yet the monastery group’s gazes contained obvious surprise. “Your Highness actually has commander-level subordinates?”
I twitched the corner of my mouth. “What’s with those looks? I am a Demon King after all. No matter what I wouldn’t be so shabby. Besides Satahia herself is already above commander level.”
But before she could feel smug for long a problem arose. Satahia looked at Bemira and the rest of the monastery squad who had suddenly grabbed her arms then subconsciously glanced at Daisy and blinked.
“Huh? Why are you all pulling on me?”
However after seeing Bilis and Him standing ready opposite her even she who was usually slow caught on. “Wait you’re all joking right?”
Kai showed an apologetic expression. “Sorry Miss Satahia. For the sake of Her Highness’s quest we have no choice but to trouble you.”
Do Holy Light professionals all have such strong imaginations?
Seeing a farce about to break out I quickly intervened. “No no. Satahia is a lord. At the very least we have to wait until we obtain a black fragment at the sovereign level.”
“Exactly exactly.” Satahia had just begun to breathe a sigh of relief when she suddenly realized something was off. “Wait a minute that’s too much! Demon King you actually planned to demonize me!”
Satahia escaped thanks to her excessively high rank but a certain little one was not so lucky.
With a thought from me a massive shadow descended from the domain before us. Black outer skin sharp wing claws—it was the Dark Bat Leader I had advanced some time ago the only commander-level monster currently under my command. It had died during the previous Eternal Night Frenzy due to the scarcity of star shards but thanks to the cemetery building I constructed recently it had entered the revival queue and was resurrected today.
Poor child.
Thinking that Little Black had just revived only to be sent to his death by me I couldn’t help feeling a tiny twinge of guilt. I naturally indulged his desire to get close.
Enjoying the gentle strokes from the small hands on his head the Dark Bat Leader let out soft sounds as if greatly pleased. Even so his eyes remained warily fixed on the monastery squad and Satahia not far away since the two sides were fundamentally opposed.
However Kai and the others paid no attention to this hostility. Instead they noticed something about the Dark Bat Leader.
“This feeling is so familiar… Your Highness is this the monster that appeared in the forest ruins that day?”
The Radiant Monastery’s ability to sense auras was truly strong. I had no intention of hiding it. “Mm. I sent Little Black over.”
But what I didn’t expect was that after receiving my answer this group grew inexplicably excited.
“Then is Miss Lilina also one of Your Highness’s subordinates?”
“The battle that day was truly unforgettable.”
“After all Miss Lilina is so cute~”
Seeming to realize they had lost composure Kai coughed and quickly straightened her attitude. “Of course Your Highness will always be the cutest existence in our hearts.”
The others behind her nodded like pecking chicks.
Thinking about it carefully the monastery squad’s various strange behaviors during the Eternal Night incident could now be explained—they were a bunch of hardcore loli enthusiasts.
Having already seen through their true nature I couldn’t help pursing my lips. If I told them that Lilina’s true form was actually Little Black right beside me would their loli-loving worldview be completely remade on the spot?
However… if another loli appeared to draw the loli-obsessed monastery’s attention my chastity would probably be much safer right?
The moment this idea occurred to me I immediately changed my wording and shot the flame demon beside me—who had “How come I didn’t know this?” written all over her face—a warning glare that said Don’t speak or I’ll demonize you.
“Lilina has been sent by me to handle other matters so you probably won’t be able to meet her. However if you come to the Demon King’s Castle the possibility is still quite high. After all as my guards you are qualified to have that right.”
“We will protect Your Highness with our lives!”
Heh heh buying people’s hearts is actually pretty simple.
In a good mood I granted Kai and the others the ability to enter and exit Herentis. I had no idea that one day in the future I would deeply regret the decision I made at this moment.
That being said the necessary preparations still had to continue.
At my command Little Black like the two Ghoul bosses before him obediently fell at the hands of the monastery group and Satahia without any resistance.
I had still been somewhat worried whether a Dark Bat’s negative emotions would meet the conditions for demonization. But after hearing the sounds coming from behind me the worry in my heart was finally put to rest.
