“Lady Saint, could I trouble you to move for a moment?”
While cleaning, Shilo looked at Lintis, who sat on the sofa with puffed cheeks, arms crossed, glaring at him as he spoke.
“Hmph!”
Lintis snorted a few times, turning her head away as if she wanted nothing to do with him. Still, the next moment she stood up and slowly shuffled aside.
Shilo sighed and began cleaning beneath the sofa.
Ever since last night, the Lady Saint had been like this, practically wearing the words ‘I am very angry’ across her face.
Still, since her sulking did not actually affect him, he could not be bothered to care.
After finishing, he waved at her. “Lady Saint, it is done.”
Hearing that, she padded back in her slippers, plopping onto the sofa again, her resentment unchanged.
Shilo said nothing and continued cleaning. Though he really wanted to complain about how idle she was, it felt like that might get him hit, so he decided against it.
Soon, he finished tidying the room and went to prepare breakfast.
Breakfast was simple: just bread and milk.
“Lady Saint, breakfast is ready.”
After saying that, Shilo took a few quick bites and left the wooden cabin. He still had his daily training to complete.
However, after only a few steps outside, he heard footsteps behind him. Turning around, he saw the Lady Saint following him, a piece of bread in her mouth and a cup of milk in her hand.
When she noticed him looking, she froze for a moment, as if she did not understand why he had suddenly turned around.
But soon, her cheeks puffed up again. With the bread still in her mouth, she looked like a little hamster sneaking food, oddly adorable.
Shilo silently turned back around, a faint smile tugging at the corner of his lips. By the time he reached the training ground, his expression had returned to calm.
He picked up a wooden sword, his gaze sharpening as his presence shifted.
The next moment, the blade cut through the air with a sharp sound, full of force.
Downward slash, thrust, horizontal cut, rising strike.
These were the fundamentals of knightly swordsmanship, and Shilo executed them with practiced fluency.
After that, it was repetition. There were no flashy techniques, only the goal of ingraining these movements into instinct.
He trained with focus. His light gray linen shirt gradually soaked through with sweat, starting to affect his performance.
Out of habit, he began to remove his shirt. But the moment he did, he remembered something and looked toward where the Lady Saint had been.
Lintis had already finished her bread. She sat leisurely on the steps, holding her milk with both hands, taking small sips, occasionally reaching down to pet Xiaobai, who lay beside her basking in the sun.
When she noticed him looking, she simply puffed her cheeks again, offering no further reaction.
Shilo was a little surprised. Standing bare-chested in front of a lady, and the Lady Saint did not scold him at all.
She was even looking at him without restraint, as if she had found something interesting.
Could it be that the Lady Saint was already used to seeing men’s bodies?
Still, even after what he had said to her last night, he did not think she was experienced in such matters between men and women.
In the end, that remark had only been born from his confusion after realizing she already knew the stolen ring was with him but had taken no action.
The feeling of being seen through while knowing nothing about her had prompted him to test her a little, with a hint of teasing.
So… did other knights often go bare-chested too?
It seemed this was something normal.
With that thought, Shilo shook his head and returned to training, stopping only when his muscles began to ache slightly.
He did not rest immediately. Instead, he stretched briefly, then began working on the farm.
Combined with the backlog from yesterday, he stayed busy until noon before finally getting a break.
When he returned to the cabin, he saw Lintis lying on top of the dog, looking drowsy.
Shilo sighed. Honestly, he could not understand her at all.
If she disliked him, she could go do something she enjoyed. Why force herself to stay bored, following him around?
He did not understand, and no one could answer him.
“Lady Saint, you are blocking the way a bit. Could you and your dog move aside?”
His words were always like this. Every sentence was polite, yet none of them sounded polite.
Lintis jolted upright. Realizing she was in the way, she quickly smiled, scratching her head as she moved aside.
Shilo stared at her, unsure what to say.
She was always like this. Even though he never spoke kindly to her, she always acted carefree, as if it did not matter.
On the rare occasions she got angry, she would vent a little and then return to her usual self.
Only this time had her anger lasted longer, though that was partly because his joke had gone a bit too far.
Come to think of it… the Lady Saint was surprisingly easy to bully.
At that moment, the slightly dazed Lintis snapped back to her senses. Her smile instantly collapsed, and she crossed her arms, puffing her lips again in one smooth motion.
Shilo found it a little amusing. To keep from laughing, he went into the cabin, rinsed off, changed into clean clothes, and headed to the kitchen to prepare lunch.
As for the Lady Saint?
She had already flopped back onto the sofa, looking completely lazy.
At some point, his sofa had somehow become her personal seat.
And he himself seemed to have unknowingly become her caretaker, while the Lady Saint was like a child who never grew up and needed looking after.
Lunch was much more refined. The main dish was wheat porridge, accompanied by fried pork and sausage, along with an omelet and a sprinkle of spices.
During the meal, neither of them spoke. The only change was the satisfied expression on the Lady Saint’s face when she tasted something delicious.
Though in Shilo’s eyes, that expression somehow translated into ‘I am very angry.’
To get through the meal, he had no choice but to keep his gaze fixed on his own plate.
After eating and resting briefly, Shilo changed into his knight uniform, preparing to head to the Adventurers Association again to take on the commission he had not accepted yesterday.
As expected, the Lady Saint followed behind him.
“Lady Saint, I will likely be away for one or two days this time. Please handle your own meals during that period.”
“And this time, please do not follow me. I will be on a mission and will not have time to look after you.”
Hearing this, Lintis opened her mouth, letting out half a sound before quickly closing it again. She took out a small notebook and a pen from her pocket.
She had bought them before leaving the city yesterday. This was the same set she had used to write her letter earlier.
Her small, fair hand gripped the pen as she began writing.
After a moment, she held the page up for Shilo to see.
There was only one sentence:
‘I promised those adventurers I would heal them. I can come back on my own.’
Shilo fell silent for a moment. He had forgotten about that.
The reason he did not want her to follow was that he was worried she might cause trouble.
Given her unpredictable personality, it would almost be strange if nothing happened.
But now, he could not find a reason to refuse. Clergy of the church took promises and vows very seriously.
It was understandable that the Lady Saint valued her promise so much.
With a helpless sigh, Shilo nodded.
The two of them set off once again on the road to Isol City.
