“Teacher Catherine! Wake up!”
Lorevil tried to wake Catherine.
Catherine’s burning body pressed against her. As streams of cold water trickled down, a thickening, exotic fragrance wafted from her skin.
It was indeed the teacher’s natural scent.
The touch of soft skin made Lorevil’s cheeks turn red despite her efforts to remain composed.
“Mmm…”
Catherine’s burning lips chased after anything that offered coolness and comfort. She gave a light lick at Lorevil’s collarbone.
*Hiss…*
Lorevil sucked in a breath of cold air.
‘This absolutely cannot continue.’
Lorevil found the bathtub and waited for the water to fill. At the same time, she constantly fended off Catherine’s advances.
Lorevil had said those things earlier precisely because she didn’t intend to shamelessly stay by Catherine’s side like the original owner of this body had.
Thinking of Noxia, she had been waiting silently. Mahina was also a good girl, earnestly striving for a life. Lorevil really didn’t want to hurt any more girls, especially since she might lose her life if she were discovered.
If her life was gone, how could she experience the local customs and scenery of this different world?
Controlling her lower urges, Lorevil placed the struggling Catherine into the bathtub once it was full. She turned and left without hesitation.
Closing the door, Lorevil exhaled a breath of turbid air. Her wet dress clung to her body, and the erotic yet dangerous images from the bathroom involuntarily flashed through her mind.
She had done all she could.
The recovery ability of a Rank 4 Vampire was very strong, which was why Lorevil felt at ease leaving Catherine alone in the tub.
“Lorevil, is it convenient for me to come in? The butler said you brought a friend over. Do you need any help?”
Just then, a knock came from outside the door, accompanied by Madam Sharon’s gentle voice.
“Madam, you’ve come at the perfect time. Please, come in,” Lorevil said calmly, suppressing the strange feeling in her heart.
“How is your friend? Should I call a doctor?” Madam Sharon asked as she pushed the door open.
“It’s Catherine. She was drugged,” Lorevil replied helplessly.
“Are you alright?”
Madam Sharon’s gaze fell on the water stains on Lorevil’s skirt and the red marks on her skin. Her eyes shifted slightly as she asked with concern.
“I’m fine. I’ve already placed her in cold water,” Lorevil said, her heart warming at the madam’s concern. “However, we should still find a doctor for her. A drug capable of making a Rank 4 Vampire lose their senses is truly terrifying.”
Madam Sharon nodded and immediately took out a communication blood crystal, quickly sending a message to summon a doctor.
“Very well. I have clean bathrobes and spare dresses here. Go change quickly so you don’t catch a cold,” Madam Sharon said solemnly.
“Thank you for your concern, Madam. I’ve caused you trouble,” Lorevil thanked her quickly.
“It’s no trouble at all.”
Madam Sharon smiled and pointed to the nearby walk-in closet.
“There are sizes there that will fit you. Go take a shower and change first. I’ll stay here until the doctor arrives to check on Catherine.”
“Thank you, Madam.”
Lorevil thanked her once more.
After the shower, Lorevil picked out a soft white dress and put it on, which made her feel a bit more relaxed. When she saw the faint red mark on her neck in the mirror, she couldn’t help but frown.
‘If Noxia sees this mark, I won’t even know how to explain it.’
Lorevil could only use the dress’s collar to temporarily cover it.
***
1 hour later.
“Catherine has taken her medicine and is feeling much better, though she hasn’t woken up yet,” Madam Sharon said to Lorevil, who was sitting on the sofa. “I sent someone to contact her family, and they’ve taken her back.”
“Madam, thank you for your help.”
“No need for thanks. If anyone should be thanking me, it’s Catherine.”
Madam Sharon took a sip of blood wine, her gaze meaningful. By lending Catherine a hand, she had gained quite a bit of favor as well.
Lorevil breathed a sigh of relief.
‘Not having to meet her is a good thing. If Catherine woke up, I wouldn’t know how to deal with her for the moment.’
“However, who do you think drugged Teacher Catherine?” Madam Sharon asked.
Lorevil told Madam Sharon the general sequence of events, only hiding a few embarrassing details.
“The guests at Rose Manor are all either wealthy or noble. There are quite a few people with a motive to strike at Catherine. For example… Samuel.”
“Samuel?”
Lorevil’s heart stirred as she remembered that difficult vampire.
“Indeed,” Madam Sharon nodded. “Samuel pursued Catherine before but was rejected by her without any mercy. He has always held a grudge. Furthermore, there has always been a feud between his family and Catherine’s. He is the most suspicious in this matter.”
‘If it really was Samuel, then he is far too bold.’
“No matter who did it, Teacher Catherine certainly won’t let it go,” Lorevil said gloomily.
She didn’t want to get involved in troublesome matters; dealing with emotional issues was already enough of a headache.
“As for what I promised you, I’ve found a human restaurant in the noble district,” Madam Sharon said, bringing up Lorevil’s previous request. “She can start working tomorrow.”
“In that case, I’ve technically completed the task Master Jerwen entrusted to me.”
Her mission was finally complete! Lorevil added with a hint of relief in her voice. With Mahina having a stable job, she could also feel much more at ease.
A trace of disappointment inexplicably appeared on Madam Sharon’s beautiful face as her gaze lingered on Lorevil.
“Madam, I have a question I’d like to ask you.”
Lorevil hesitated for a moment before speaking. She still didn’t understand why Madam Sharon would seek her out, or what Master Jerwen had said to the madam.
“I know you’re very smart. Some things simply can’t be hidden from you.”
Madam Sharon sighed, her expression turning serious. “I have nothing to hide. Or rather, I should have told you this sooner.”
Madam Sharon drifted into her memories.
“Your family and I made an agreement when you were very young. Your mother, Elena, signed a blood oath with me. The content of the oath was simple: I was to become your guardian until you reached adulthood.”
“…”
Lorevil’s brain stalled. She froze in place, feeling lost.
‘What kind of development is this?’
Madam Sharon was her guardian? She had never found any trace of this in the original owner’s memories.
Seeing her shocked expression, a gentle smile curved Madam Sharon’s lips. She remembered when Elena had led a small figure out of the room. A pair of light red eyes on a tender little face had curiously observed Seraphina back then.
Madam Sharon’s soft heart had seemingly been touched, instantly captivated by the soft and adorable little thing.
“I still remember when you were only 5. You hid behind Elena and peeked out to call me ‘Big Sister,'” Madam Sharon said with a smile, her eyes full of nostalgia.
Lorevil understood. It seemed the original owner was only 5 at the time, so it was normal not to remember such things. It was just like how her parents back before she transmigrated would take her to visit relatives, and everyone would say they had held her when she was born or that she had visited when she was a toddler, yet she couldn’t remember a single thing.
