“So that’s what it was about.”
My aunt yawned as she was woken up and spoke helplessly. “Anyway, you’ve already written quite a bit before this. Just hurry up and fill in the rest today to make up the numbers. Brother-in-law probably won’t say much.”
But when she saw my expression, she suddenly realized something was off. “You… you haven’t written a single word, have you?”
“I did… write a little bit,” I said, awkwardly scratching my cheek. “After all, I’ve been busy running around in the game these past two months, so I barely touched the homework.”
However, Evin rubbed her eyes, curiously flipped open the summer homework book on the table, and showed everyone the almost brand-new pages. This proved that my “a little bit” only meant I had written my name on it.
“Hey, hey, don’t just stay silent. Isn’t it normal to leave summer homework until the very end?” I asked Evin and Cecilia beside me. “You two definitely haven’t finished your summer homework either, right?”
But Evin gave a different answer.
“I finished it the day before vacation started.”
“What is summer homework?”
Cecilia’s answer was even more straightforward. Only after I explained did she understand, but her follow-up reply shocked us.
“My father burned it all. He said doing that stuff is completely useless. If the teacher asks, just have them call his phone and he’ll explain.”
“Why don’t I have a dad like that…”
My aunt helplessly slapped the table and brought the topic back on track. “Alright, the problem now is how to finish as much of Tongtong’s summer homework as possible before your dad gets back. Perfect timing—Scarlet Rain and the others are coming over to play today. I’ll call them later and have them come help tutor you.”
“No way. Even with help, there’s so much homework that it’ll take forever to finish.” Looking at the almost untouched homework books in front of me, plus the assigned essays and diary entries, I held my head in despair for the first time.
“I’d like to help you write some too, but if I did, the teacher would notice immediately.”
My aunt spread her hands. “Exactly. The handwriting and way of thinking are obviously different between something a child writes and what an adult writes. Unless we find someone who writes similarly to you…”
Before she could finish, my aunt and I simultaneously had the same thought and turned our gazes toward the confused-looking Evin and Cecilia beside us.
“Evin should be really good at math, right?” I asked. As the only daughter of a group director, she should have talent in this area from constant exposure.
“Of course.” Evin immediately put on a proud expression when asked.
“Cecilia, your Chinese and essay writing should be pretty good, right?” I turned to the mixed-blood loli. I still remembered how impressed I was by her fluent speech when we first met.
“My aunt is a Chinese professor. I studied with her for two years.” Cecilia’s answer indirectly proved her strong literary foundation.
And so, the lower volume of the math homework book, the exercise book, the lower volume of the Chinese homework book, and the diary were handed over to Evin and Cecilia respectively. Before they could protest, I made my offers.
“The pillow is yours.” This was the bargaining chip for one of them.
“I’ll make you a chocolate cake next time.” This was the promise for the little foodie.
I felt like a product planner from my previous life, perfectly tailoring the deals to their personalities and desires.
“Deal.” ×2
Even my aunt looked tempted. “How about letting me sleep with you as your hug pillow tonight? I’ll help you write some too?”
“Didn’t you say it would be obvious?”
“I can spend some time carefully imitating your handwriting.”
“Don’t go through so much trouble for something like this!”
Fortunately, a messenger of justice appeared in time, interrupting the scene where a certain loli-lover was plotting against her own niece.
“Breakfast is bought. You girls…” My little aunt suddenly poked her head through the doorway, shaking the breakfast bag in her hand. “By the way, what were you talking about? Imitating what?”
She clearly startled everyone at the “crime scene.” I quickly explained, “N-nothing! I was just asking my aunt about some questions.”
“Oh, so you three are doing homework. I’ll leave breakfast here then. Make sure to eat, okay?”
Seeing the homework books on the small wooden table and the pens that Evin and Cecilia had forgotten to put away, my little aunt mistakenly thought all three of us were catching up on summer homework. She smiled and placed the breakfast beside us.
Only after my little aunt left did we breathe a sigh of relief. My aunt stuck her tongue out, still unwilling to give up. “Think about it again, Lil—”
Before she could finish, my little aunt appeared again. “Ah, right. I forgot to tell you. Sister Qiuru and the others said they’re coming over to play today.”
“Huh? When?!”
“They said they’re already on the way.” Just then, a notification sound came from her phone. My little aunt checked the screen. “Ah, they’ve arrived. Yuyu, go to the door and welcome them. I’ll make some tea and prepare snacks.”
My aunt looked surprised. She had planned to call them herself, but they had already come. This saved her the trouble. Before leaving, she grabbed two meat buns from the breakfast bag.
“Who is Sister Qiuru?” Evin asked curiously after my aunt left.
“She’s the big sister Light Mage from the party when we did that dungeon last time. The other big sisters should all be coming together this time,” I explained.
It was hard to imagine what it would be like with a group of loli enthusiasts showing up. Fortunately, Evin and Cecilia were here to help share the firepower. The two little ones had no idea what kind of intense treatment they were about to receive.
Sure enough, after my aunt brought them upstairs, the group first marveled at how luxurious the house was decorated. Then, following my aunt’s explanation, they rushed straight over, instantly filling the originally spacious room to capacity.
Unexpectedly, Lost Sunny Day—who had run dungeons with us twice before—was also there. It seemed she had become good friends with my aunt and the others.
“Teacher, good morning.”
“Tongtong, I’m here!”
“Evin is here too! Huh, there’s another little sister?”
“Wow, she looks just like a doll. Can I pat your head? Just once~”
“It’s practically turned into a kindergarten in here. Well, I mean you guys.”
I silently reached out and patted Cecilia’s shoulder, while also pressing down her skirt, just in case this pink-haired loli got upset and pulled out some weapon of mass destruction from under her skirt.
Fortunately, Sister Qiuru finally spoke up to calm everyone down. “Alright, quiet down. Don’t disturb these little friends while they’re doing their homework. At least act like proper adults.”
Her words carried the tone of someone used to disciplining students. It was said that she worked as a teacher at the high school where Sister Ye Yuan and Sister Xia Moshui taught, and this year she was preparing to become a homeroom teacher for new students.
