The Observer grabbed Ailisi’s wrist and used Teleportation Magic.
The two vanished instantly.
After the silver light faded, the mine tunnel fell dark again.
Duente stared at where Observer and Ailisi had disappeared, his heart undisturbed.
He turned and walked away.
He said to Liweida, “Follow me.”
“Senior, letting them go like that, isn’t it a bit too casual?” Liweida jogged to catch up.
“That Observer is just a weirdo, definitely top-tier in strength. Besides, Selina can’t find anyone at school, so she’ll definitely be looking for us everywhere. It’s best not to go back for now.”
The two quickly advanced along the other side of the mine tunnel.
The rock walls seeped cold water droplets.
The gravel underfoot grew looser, and the slope gradually slanted downward.
A white light appeared ahead in the tunnel, gradually growing larger.
“We’ve arrived.”
Ahead was a cliff.
Duente froze.
Liweida: “Senior? What’s wrong?”
Duente: “No… this shouldn’t be a cliff…”
In the previous life, this exit was supposed to lead to the wilderness.
‘Why was it a cliff?’
A gray sea came into view, boundless and endless.
Moreover, there was no sign of life here, as if it were the end of the world.
“What a strange place. Where have we ended up?” Liweida stood at the cliff’s edge and looked down, startling herself so much she nearly lost her footing.
The cliff was very high.
Below were nothing but jagged rocks; if one accidentally fell, they would die on impact.
“Wait, I’m thinking.”
Everything’s messed up.
This location simply didn’t appear in the previous life.
Come to think of it, the Observer hadn’t shown up in the previous life either.
Then could Duente really have gone back to the past?
No, now wasn’t the time to think about that.
Should go back the way they came…
Duente turned to look and saw that the passage had disappeared.
Liweida stared at the sea, looking closely.
She said, “Senior, there’s something moving over there.”
On the rocky beach at the base of the sea cliff, something was crawling out of the water.
That was definitely not a creature that existed in this world.
Its body was twice the size of an adult human.
Its hard carapace gleamed with a deep blue luster.
Four thick appendages supported its body, and a row of sharp bone spurs rose from its back.
The monster’s head had no eyes, only a constantly opening and closing circular mouth filled with tiny teeth.
Duente laughed helplessly.
Liweida grabbed Duente’s arm and deliberately exclaimed, “Senior! That monster is so scary!”
Duente remained unmoved.
He simply said, “Calm down, Liweida. It wouldn’t be strange if we both died here right now. So stop hiding your strength.”
The tentacle monster climbed onto the reef, turning its mouth toward the top of the sea cliff.
The next instant, those four bizarre appendages pushed off simultaneously, leaping onto the rock wall at an impossible angle and beginning to climb vertically.
The carapace scraped against the rock, making a piercing sound, while the bone spurs left white marks on the cliff face.
“Dodge!”
Duente grabbed Liweida and quickly retreated.
They dodged the tentacle monster’s first attack.
The tentacle monster moved extremely fast, and the remaining three tentacles came one after another.
“Senior, watch out!”
Liweida used shadows to envelop herself and Duente.
The two hid in the shadows, dodging the tentacle monster’s triple strike.
If Liweida used this move on her own, she wouldn’t consume much magic power.
But protecting another person made it extremely taxing for her now.
Liweida’s shadows soon dissipated.
She was already panting heavily, looking as if she couldn’t even manage a full sprint anymore.
Duente picked up Liweida and summoned his Soul Core.
“Being princess-carried by Senior? Yay!”
“Hold on tight, Liweida. Get ready to run.”
The Soul Core’s remaining power was only enough for Duente to alter reality two more times.
Actually, the previous operation of changing the container bottle’s material hadn’t consumed much of the Soul Core’s true power.
But this time was different.
Currently, Duente couldn’t use Teleportation Magic.
So he could only rely on the Soul Core to alter the fact that “no teleportation magic circle exists here.”
The tentacle monster sprang up again, attacking the two.
The Soul Core activated instantly, and a huge white teleportation circle appeared beneath Duente’s feet.
When the teleportation circle activated, it formed an unbreakable protective barrier, manifesting as a white, translucent wall of light with floating runes, capable of blocking and reflecting most attacks.
The tentacle monster’s attacks all struck the barrier, instantly bounced back, and sent it flying off the cliff.
White light spread around their feet, and a huge circular magic array was nearing completion.
The tentacle monster stood up again, letting out an even sharper shriek, and charged once more.
“Gahhhh!”
The light of the magic circle grew brighter, covering the entire sea cliff.
Liweida clung tightly to Duente.
White light swallowed everything.
The world instantly fell silent.
In Duente’s eyes, there was only white.
In Liweida’s eyes, there was only Duente.
In the tentacle monster’s eyes, there was a chaotic world.
A feeling of weightlessness surged from the soles of his feet to the top of his head.
A moment later, Duente’s back slammed onto a soft cushion.
Duente opened his eyes.
Liweida lay on top of him, her face full of happiness.
Duente didn’t say much.
He looked around.
Looking past Liweida, he first saw a pure white ceiling, and then an upside-down face with purple hair and heavy dark circles.
“Oh my, this person suddenly returned.” Fuermili’s tone was completely flat.
She said to Fuermina, “Sis, the experimental subject is back.”
“Don’t call my handsome young man that.” Fuermina walked over from beside the medicine cabinet, glanced at Duente sprawled on the bed, then looked at Liweida in Duente’s arms, and said with a smile, “Good, no one got lost.”
Duente’s mind was racing, wondering what he could say to explain the current situation and bluff his way through.
“A silver-haired woman said you two would show up here.” Fuermili yawned, then shoved a tube of blue potion into his hand.
“She didn’t tell us the reason, only asked me to increase the dosage.”
Duente looked at the blue potion in his hand, was silent for a moment, and decided not to drink it.
The Observer again.
Liweida lay on Duente’s chest, rubbing her face against him, and laughed: “Senior, you looked so cool just now fighting that seafood~”
“…That’s called an unidentified creature.”
“It’s obviously seafood.”
Duente couldn’t be bothered to argue.
Fuermili said, “So, you’re not planning to drink the blue potion you’re holding? Want me to turn it into pills?”
Fuermina said, “Or do you want me to feed you personally like last time?”
Duente gently pushed Liweida’s face away and said calmly, “Since you’ve met the Observer too, I have to ask, how much do you know about her?”
Fuermili stated bluntly, “Don’t know her.”
Fuermina said, “If little classmate is willing to go on a date with me for a day, I might consider helping you~”
Liweida immediately refused: “No way! Senior’s time belongs only to me!”
Fuermina laughed: “Little girl, you’re so cute, but that’s not for you to decide~”
Fuermina looked at Duente, her eyes full of ambiguity and suggestion.
Duente thought for a moment and responded, “So, to get information, I have to sell my looks? Fine, if you really have intel, I don’t mind agreeing.”
