Whenever Feng Xiaohe sent her younger sister, Feng Xiaona, to school, a touch of sorrow always colored her brow.
She often blamed herself.
“I’m sorry, Xiaona. If I worked harder, I could rent a house closer to the school. Then you wouldn’t have to wake up so early every day and waste all your time on the road.”
Whenever she said this, Feng Xiaona would always respond with a pure and innocent smile.
“As long as I can be with you, Sister, it doesn’t matter how far the journey is. I’m already very happy.”
Thirty kilometers was the distance between Feng Xiaona’s home and her school.
Every week or so, the “Uncle” who drove Xiaona to school would change. Sometimes it was a Land Rover, sometimes a BMW, and occasionally a Mercedes-Benz.
Today, the man bringing Xiaona to school was an Uncle driving a Honda.
Like the other men, he constantly stared at her sister’s thighs with a lecherous gaze. Feng Xiaona clenched her delicate little fists and swore that one day she would study hard and stand tall so her sister would no longer have to bow her head to life.
Coincidentally, today was the third monthly exam, another opportunity to prove herself.
As the top student in her grade, Feng Xiaona felt no anxiety about the exam; instead, she was incredibly excited.
Imagining the joyful smile her sister would show once the results were announced made her heart feel warm. She felt that this was the only value she could currently create.
With twenty minutes left before the exam, she was the first to enter the classroom.
“Oh, isn’t this Xiaona?”
A sharp, sarcastic voice pierced Feng Xiaona’s ears.
It was the Delinquent Trio, a group of girls in her class who disliked studying. Although they were delinquents, their grades were usually decent, ranking above average in the class.
This wasn’t because they worked hard. For them, sacrificing a bit of their “charms” before an exam meant boys would pass them little notes with the answers.
Usually arrogant and overbearing, they were like hyenas on the African savannah, always acting in a group to bully anyone they disliked for their own amusement.
Feng Xiaona was no fool. She could see that she was their target today.
“Xiaona, number one in the grade. That’s truly impressive. You must study very hard, right?”
“Since you’re sitting in the row right in front of us today, why don’t you help us out during the exam?”
Their frivolous voices made Feng Xiaona feel nauseous, but she didn’t want to cause trouble, so she spoke against her true feelings.
“Of course. Classmates should help each other.”
They wore expressions that said, ‘At least you know what’s good for you.’ It seemed as though Feng Xiaona had successfully bluffed her way through.
Unfortunately, they were creatures like hyenas. Constant compromise and concessions would only lead to them demanding more.
“Xiaona, you get first place every time. You couldn’t possibly know the exam questions in advance, could you?” a girl applying nail polish asked in a contemptuous tone.
“It’s possible she has some sort of private deal with Teacher Liu.”
“Maybe not just Teacher Liu. Perhaps that Fatty Wang is involved, too.”
“Tsk, tsk.”
They laughed wantonly.
As a good student in the eyes of her teachers, Feng Xiaona intended to endure it.
To be angry was to punish oneself for the mistakes of others.
Feng Xiaona maintained a mechanical smile and said nothing.
“What’s with that expression?”
“Sisters, please don’t talk like that, okay?” Feng Xiaona’s voice trembled slightly.
“Who are you calling ‘Sister’? Don’t disgust us, all right? We aren’t anything like that whore of a sister you have.”
“Exactly. Her sister is just a hooker. Xiaona arrives in a different car every day. Her sister changes boyfriends more often than she changes her underwear. She’s probably caught HIV by now!”
“Hahaha, she’s definitely ‘sick’ in more ways than one!”
‘Calm down…’
‘I must stay calm…’
Feng Xiaona clenched her fists, intending to turn around and leave.
They bullied many people, anyway. As long as she endured it today, they would soon find it boring and move on to bullying someone else.
“Xiaona’s sister is just a high-class prostitute! Her daily job is just moaning in men’s arms.”
“Oh, don’t! Not there—”
“No, I want more, I want more—”
“Hahaha!”
Their voices became increasingly wild and unrestrained. The surrounding students watched the scene play out like a show.
Meanwhile, Feng Xiaona’s heart was being torn to pieces by such foul language.
Her sister’s smile was so warm and holy. Every time she came home from school, her sister would be waiting at the school gate.
In Feng Xiaona’s eyes, her sister was an angel without wings.
‘I’m sorry. No matter what, I cannot tolerate others insulting you in this way.’
Feng Xiaona suddenly turned around and walked straight up to her.
“Xiaona, you want to fight?”
The girl applying nail polish looked at her with disdain. As the girlfriend of the school bully, she usually looked down her nose at everyone. She was arrogant to a lawless degree and often took pride in no longer being a virgin.
The other two girls spent their days in bars after school, often using the catchphrase, “I smoke, I drink, and I have tattoos, but I’m a good girl.”
Now, the eyes of the entire class were focused on them.
Facing these three girls alone, Feng Xiaona knew she would get hurt.
But if someone insulted her sister, she would gouge their eyes out even if it meant her death.
Suddenly, a pen appeared in Feng Xiaona’s hand. Without the slightest hesitation, she stabbed it toward the face of the girl who had been the first to call her sister a “hooker.”
She aimed for the eye.
To call her sister a hooker meant the girl had no eyes to see the truth. In that case, there was no need for her eyes to exist.
Her movements were so fast that almost no one saw what happened.
And so, tragedy struck.
The girl dating the school bully was stabbed in the left eyeball by the pen. Immediately after, Feng Xiaona pulled a utility knife from her pocket and swung it at the remaining two girls.
Usually, they were arrogant and overbearing, even going so far as to grab other girls by the hair and rub their heads against the floor in the bathrooms.
But faced with Feng Xiaona’s life-risking ferocity, a sense of fear actually grew in their hearts — a fear of the girl they saw as a nerd.
The blade of the utility knife easily sliced the girl’s face.
Although Feng Xiaona had no systematic martial arts training, she knew to attack vital points.
And the face was a vital point.
“AAAAAHHHH!”
Within a few short seconds, Feng Xiaona had used such brutal methods to attack two of the girls. The third girl threw a kick that caught Feng Xiaona in the stomach, then grabbed her by the hair and slammed her head against the corner of a desk.
Intense pain spread across Feng Xiaona’s forehead. However, instead of showing a pained expression, her smile became increasingly distorted.
She endured the pain of her scalp being pulled and gripped the utility knife, stabbing toward the girl attacking her.
It was only then that the other students finally stopped standing by. One group pulled Feng Xiaona back while another group pinned down the three girls.
Compared to the three girls, Feng Xiaona’s injuries could be called minor at best. The Delinquent Trio, however, was in a wretched state. One had several knife gashes on her face, nearing disfigurement. Another had a pen lodged in her eyeball, with blood streaming from the corner of her eye. The last girl was slightly luckier, having only a few superficial cuts on her hands.
“This won’t end today. Anyone who dares insult my sister will pay with their life!”
Feng Xiaona’s cold voice sounded like a soul-reaping ghost.
“What happened here?”
At that moment, the homeroom teacher walked into the exam room holding the test papers and witnessed the scene.
