Chapter 24: Giving the Black Cat a Bath

Even though she said that, right before heading out, Luo Yunzhi seemed to think of something. 

She stood there staring at the black cat for a long time.

“Meow?”

What’s wrong?

Bai Ziyu couldn’t stand that gaze. 

She couldn’t help shifting sideways to put some distance between them, as if afraid the girl might do something.

But Luo Yunzhi was actually just thinking… She reached out and pulled the black cat back into her arms, rubbing her fur before lowering her head to sniff lightly.

Just as Bai Ziyu was about to hiss, the girl seemed to sense something and let go of her. 

Propping her cheek on her hand, she spoke softly to the black cat.

“Little White doesn’t have much of a smell. But now that I think about it, since I brought you home, I haven’t given you a bath, have I?” 

Luo Yunzhi only remembered it now.

It had already been quite some time since she brought the black cat home and they started living together. 

But because she was so busy every day, she really hadn’t paid attention to this.

Except for that one time before… She thought it was just her imagination when Little White turned on the shower and got completely soaked. 

But that probably didn’t count as a bath.

Hearing this made the black cat’s body stiffen involuntarily. 

She had actually bathed before, but only after the girl left and she transformed into human form.

But how could a cat wash herself?

She had a bad feeling.

“Meow!”

Let me go!

“You’re not allowed to run away.” 

Luo Yunzhi chuckled. 

With quick hands and eyes, she caught the escaping cat and carried her toward the bathroom, ignoring the wails. 

In the blink of an eye, she closed the door behind them.

“Come on, Little White, don’t be shy.”

“I’ll give you a bath~”

“You’ll smell so nice~”

The whooshing sound of water pouring from the shower echoed continuously in the bathroom. The clear water splashed into the bathtub with plinking sounds.

Luo Yunzhi stood in front of the bathtub, humming a light and cheerful tune. 

She reached out a finger and tested the hot water’s temperature.

“Hmm, not too hot.” 

The girl pondered, then turned to look at the black cat beside her, a gentle smile in her eyes.

“Little White, you’re being very good this time.”

“Meow!”

Bad person!

The black cat protested there.

How was she being good about taking a bath?

The girl had seen her resisting and immediately grabbed a bath towel from the side.

Then she wrapped her up tightly… Now only Bai Ziyu’s head was sticking out. 

The whole cat was bundled up like a rice dumpling.

She couldn’t resist even if she wanted to.

This despicable girl!

“Huh? You’re not scolding me, are you?” 

Luo Yunzhi blinked playfully and giggled softly, seemingly unaware of anything.

She didn’t mind anyway. 

Even if the cat was scolding her, all she heard were “meow meow” sounds, so if she wanted to curse, let her.

The girl was determined to give this bath. 

Not only to clean the black cat’s body, but also to prevent bacteria from making her sick.

Luo Yunzhi meant well.

Of course she wasn’t going to give up.

“Little White, just accept your fate~” 

The girl said cheerfully as she walked up to the black cat and untied the bath towel.

Freed from the restraint, the black cat snorted and tried to flee as fast as possible.

She jumped off the sink, but before her paws could touch the floor—

She was easily caught by Luo Yunzhi, who pulled her into her arms. 

The girl carried her to the edge of the bathtub and stood there looking at the clear water.

“Meow!”

I don’t want a bath!

“Meow!”

No!

“Resistance is futile.” 

The girl gently stroked the little cat’s adorable head, squatted down halfway, and took the black cat’s paw to lightly touch the water’s surface.

“Does it feel hot?”

“Meow!”

I’m not bathing!

“Looks like it’s not hot.”

This time, although Luo Yunzhi understood what Bai Ziyu meant, she pretended not to and continued anyway.

She carefully lifted the black cat and first placed her hind legs into the bathtub, followed by her belly and front limbs.

There wasn’t much water in the tub, so even when the black cat sat inside, it only came up to most of her body. 

There was no risk of her getting water in her nose.

“Meow!”

Bad person!

Bai Ziyu protested angrily again. 

But once she was already in the bathtub and soaked all over, she stopped resisting.

The black cat hated baths for a simple reason. 

She had fluffy fur, and now that it was wet, the fur clung damply to her body.

It felt indescribably uncomfortable.

She looked rather resentful.

“Aiya, don’t say that.”

The girl chuckled lightly and scooped up some water to pour over the black cat’s back, wetting the fur there too.

“This is for your own good.” Luo Yunzhi spoke with patient teaching. 

“Only when you’re washed clean will you be less likely to get sick.”

Once the body was wet enough, she squeezed out some shower gel, worked it into bubbles, and lathered the black cat all over until the entire cat was buried in foam.

Bai Ziyu shook her head. 

She could even hear the pop pop sounds of the bubbles bursting in the air. 

She felt even more displeased.

The black cat lifted her little head.

And stared at the girl.

“Huh? What’s wrong?”

“Meow!”

I’m angry!

Bai Ziyu puffed out her cheeks. 

She didn’t need a bath, and she definitely didn’t want to be all wet. 

Looking at the girl, she had already come up with a plan for revenge.

Under Luo Yunzhi’s surprised gaze, the black cat who had been behaving in the bathtub suddenly leaped out and charged straight at her.

Luo Yunzhi didn’t have time to dodge. 

Her squatting posture made her lose balance when the cat collided with her, causing her to fall back onto the floor. 

She barely managed to steady herself.

Her butt hurt a little. Before she could rub it, she realized something was hanging on her body—a cat covered in foam.

Because of their close contact, the foam from the black cat also got onto her, leaving her feeling wet and slippery.

The girl’s fingertips touched the black cat.

It felt warm.

“Little White, that was very naughty.” Luo Yunzhi shook her head helplessly. 

She wiped the foam off her clothes and moved the black cat aside.

“Do you hate baths that much?” 

She wasn’t actually angry. After all, most cats naturally disliked water.

She wondered why.

Was it instinct?

“Meow.”

I just won’t behave.

Bai Ziyu snorted softly. Seeing the foam and water stains soaking Luo Yunzhi’s clothes made her feel a little better.

Once the girl went to change clothes, she would secretly slip out and stay far away from the bathroom. 

Catching her again wouldn’t be so easy.

The black cat felt like she had won. 

She shook her body to fling off the water droplets, stepped onto the floor, and walked toward the bathroom door.

She looked at the locked door.

And fell into deep thought.

Should she open it? 

But how could a cat open a door? 

Bai Ziyu turned her head back and meowed, thinking Luo Yunzhi would probably go out to change clothes.

But she had guessed wrong.

The girl stood there.

And had already begun unbuttoning her clothes.
