Chapter 24: Her Heart Is in Turmoil

The atmosphere was too oppressive. 

Just by the way she stood there, no one dared to breathe loudly.

Anyone could see that her current calm was just a facade. 

There must be a huge fire of anger burning inside, and it was aimed at Duente.

Even Ailisi didn’t dare say an extra word.

Liweida closed the book in her hands. 

She didn’t dare make a reckless move because she didn’t know if Selina would attack immediately.

If she did something unnecessary now, it might cause unpredictable consequences.

So she could only watch and wait.

Duente wasn’t surprised. 

He didn’t completely disbelieve what Ailisi had said.

‘It seemed now that Ailisi hadn’t lied. But she was still the same coward, showing hesitation when faced with trouble.’

In this oppressive atmosphere, Miqi stepped forward!

“Laughing loudly, I step out the door—how could I be a man of the common lot? Old Du, hold this place! I’m making my move first! Hahahaha!”

Miqi used his signature escape technique, greasing his feet, and rushed toward the entrance of the Training Ground at incredible speed, only to be caught by Selina with one hand.

“That line is quite talented, but no one is leaving this door today. Get back!”

Selina threw Miqi back with one hand, landing him precisely on his original spot.

Miqi fell flat on his face, but immediately jumped up, stood at attention, and saluted: “As you command, Lady Selina!”

Fuermina said, “Lady Selina, this is class time. Even if you are of high status, you cannot abuse my students, can you?”

Selina walked up to Fuermina, stood tall, and looked at her calmly. 

Their eyes were level. 

She said, “Fuermina, you’re just a teacher. Your little dirty dealings behind the scenes are nothing. I advise you to step aside.”

Fuermina did not back down. 

She took a step forward, pressing against Selina’s chest, and said confidently, “I won’t let you harm my students.”

Selina: “Stay away from me. Aren’t you hot?”

Fuermina: “It’s you who should step back. Dereliction of duty is a major taboo. As such a high-ranking officer, you can’t be unaware of that, can you?”

Selina: “You’ve said both the good and bad words. Looks like I have to get rough.”

Selina drove a knee strike straight into Fuermina’s abdomen.

Fuermina barely blocked it with both hands, but Selina’s strength was too great. 

Fuermina was pushed back three steps before withstanding the blow.

Selina charged in with a roundhouse kick, her high boots and military miniskirt revealing her powerful thighs.

Fuermina naturally wouldn’t take that hit head-on. 

She sidestepped, using the momentum to strike Selina’s waist with an elbow, which Selina blocked with one hand.

The students started murmuring: “She can actually trade blows with Lady Selina… Our school nurse is this strong?”

“Don’t talk nonsense. Lady Selina isn’t going all out. I think Duente is done for today!”

Selina jumped back two steps, steadied herself, and dropped her stance.

Fuermina did not pursue, but waited.

Selina: “Old classmate, your skills are still top-notch. You really shouldn’t be wasting your life in a place like this.”

Fuermina: “My affairs are none of your business. If you want to touch my students today, you’ll have to get through me.”

Selina maintained a serious expression. 

She said, “I’m not here to target anyone today.” As she said this, she looked at Duente.

Liweida sensed danger. 

She immediately leaped to Duente’s side and whispered, “Senior, I’ll take you and escape in a bit.”

Duente told her to be quiet.

Selina looked at Liweida, already sensing that Duente’s attitude toward her was unusual. 

“As Ailisi’s fiancé, not only did you fail to protect her, but now you’re messing around with a wild woman from a fallen family. Duente, how did you become like this?”

Duente immediately retorted, “That’s none of your business, is it? Besides, I never said I would definitely marry Ailisi.”

Selina sneered disdainfully, “Such an arrogant aura. You’ve changed a lot. You never dared to defy me before.”

Duente said, “The past is the past, and the present is the present. If you always treat the present as the past, why don’t you make me go back to the time before the engagement contract was made?”

At these words, Selina instantly became furious.

She scolded, “You ungrateful wolf! If it weren’t for Ailisi begging me to help you enter this academy, you’d be rotting somewhere unknown by now.”

She continued to accuse, “Protecting Ailisi was originally your duty. But not only did you let her be taken away, when she came back, you also humiliated her? How can you be so selfish!”

Selina’s words were aimed at completely reducing Duente’s image to an ungrateful person.

The surrounding students heard this and began to blame Duente. 

The boys who envied him even banded together, and the girls who were close to Ailisi also hated Duente even more.

Ailisi, as the person concerned, remained silent.

She wanted to step out and speak for Duente, but she was even more afraid that would make her mother even angrier.

Her mother had looked down on Duente from a long time ago, so she always nitpicked at Duente.

But Duente had always been strong. 

Every time, he became stronger, and never fell behind Ailisi, who was chosen as a gifted hero.

This made Ailisi even more reluctant to let Duente leave.

But whenever she showed kindness to Duente, her mother would target him.

In private, she had tried to comfort Duente, share good things with him, and console him when her mother bullied him.

But her mother still found out. 

And when she did, she became even harsher toward Duente.

Over time, Ailisi no longer dared to show any affection toward him, because it would hurt him.

Ailisi was still hesitating in her mind, still torn about whether to step out.

At this moment, Liweida stepped in front of Duente, gathered her courage, and shouted loudly, “It’s you who is selfish!”

The whole place fell silent.

Fuermina quietly moved to Liweida’s side. 

She couldn’t let any more students be hurt by Selina. 

That woman really would lay hands on students.

Especially she had to protect Duente. 

He was an important research subject, an interesting little classmate.

Selina didn’t even bother to look at Liweida. 

She just continued, “Duente, you’re walking further and further down the path to death. From now on, your life will be obstructed everywhere. You better remember today.”

Duente smiled and replied, “Fine. I’ll be waiting with keen interest.”

Selina turned and left. 

Merso Ignis was waiting for her at the entrance of the Training Ground. 

He said softly, “I told you our daughter is fine. You insisted on coming over and making such a scene. Just scare the students and be done with it. Don’t go too far!”

“Shut up, middle-aged man. I want you to cut off all support for Duente immediately. Otherwise, I will enforce it.”

“Oh my, my dear wife, this is just a trivial matter. No need for that!”

“Less nonsense. Do as I say!”

Selina and Merso Ignis’s figures disappeared.

But the way the whole class looked at Duente grew colder and colder.
