Chapter 24: Waiting for Rescue

Mao Nv was completely confused.

She followed Suo’en as they ran toward the Warehouse District, and asked in bewilderment, “Your madam? Who is your madam?”

Suo’en knew that this cat girl might not be interested in saving his madam, so he changed his approach.

“You might not be interested in saving our madam, but you must be interested in destroying the Sin Organization, right?”

Suo’en also knew that as a captive, Mao Nv had often been abused by the Sin Organization.

She desperately wrenched herself free from Tan Lan’s grasp and ran as fast as she could toward the direction the javelin had come from.

The next moment, a black-and-white spotted cat girl stepped out of the dark corridor.

She rolled her shoulders, then beckoned to Ouruola with her finger.

“Come on, you ugly thing!”

Ouruola was furious.

She hadn’t expected that Suo’en, who had escaped, had gone to rescue this cat girl.

Ouruola waved her hand, signaling her puppets to kill her.

The red-haired Fen Nu puppet lifted its broken broadsword and charged first.

Mao Nv crouched down, then exploded forward like a bullet.

In the span of a breath, she was in front of Fen Nu.

Without giving Fen Nu any chance to react, she launched a flying kick to his stomach.

The force of the blow was so great that it sent Fen Nu flying backward.

Mao Nv pressed forward again, reaching Fen Nu while he was still mid-flight.

She grabbed him by the neck and slammed him hard onto the ground.

Mao Nv raised her hand, clenched it into a fist, and smashed Fen Nu’s head to pieces.

She casually picked up the broadsword that had fallen from his hand, then stood up and raised her arm, shouting loudly.

“Steel Refining Art!”

The scalding molten iron was shaped into a spear in Mao Nv’s hands.

She flicked it a few times, then charged fiercely toward the Sin Organization.

The spear danced in her hands like a silver dragon, taking down over a dozen Envy puppets that tried to get close.

Noah, who had already escaped to a safe position, watched the cat girl slaughtering in amazement.

She clicked her tongue softly.

“Well, now I understand why we had to save her…”

“Madam! Are you all right?!”

Suo’en stumbled out of the corridor behind Noah.

He looked Noah up and down first, then let out a long breath.

“Good that you’re safe… good that you’re safe…”

“I’m fine…”

Noah frowned, looking up at the corpse of the servant in the corner.

“But he… sacrificed himself to protect me…”

Suo’en shook his head and said reverently, “Madam, don’t grieve. To die protecting you, he should feel honored!”

Noah glanced at Suo’en’s mask.

Although she couldn’t see his eyes, she turned her head away guiltily.

Noah knew she wasn’t really Lady Gehelos.

If these servants found out the truth, she didn’t know how they would react.

Noah shifted her gaze to the cat girl still fighting.

She saw that Mao Nv was charging forward to kill Ouruola.

Noah was startled and immediately stood up to shout at the cat girl.

“Stop! Don’t kill her!”

Mao Nv didn’t understand why, but she withdrew her spear.

She had just taken a few steps back when she heard Ouruola on the opposite side chanting in a strange voice.

[“With this, crown the God of Filth!”]

As the spell took shape, Mao Nv saw the Envy puppets she had killed rise again like zombies.

These corpses moved on all fours, crawling rapidly toward them like grotesque creatures.

Mao Nv was taken aback and quickly retreated backward.

She picked off a few crawling zombies, then while flicking the blood off her spear, turned to Noah and demanded, “Why did you stop me?! If I’d killed their leader, this wouldn’t have happened!”

“Because she is the [True Envy].”

Noah was also startled by the eerie scene.

She retreated with Mao Nv, explaining with a serious expression.

“If you kill her, she will forcibly swap bodies with you. Then you will die, and she will continue to live using your body!”

“What a creepy ability!”

The zombies crawled extremely fast, almost instantly catching up to the three fleeing people.

Mao Nv handed the spear in her hand to Noah beside her, then melted herself another one.

While attacking the zombies approaching her, she asked Noah, “If I remember correctly, Envy is one of the seven deadly sins of the Filth Spirit. What do we do now?”

These zombies’ attack method was a typical life-for-life struggle.

Even if you cut them in half, the remaining half would still try to crawl forward.

Even if you chopped them to pieces, the scattered flesh would still wriggle and try to reassemble into a whole.

Noah and the others dared not fight these zombies head-on.

First, killing them was pointless.

Second, because behind them were the top combatants Tan Lan and Bao Shi.

They fought while retreating, gradually making their way toward the entrance.
