Chapter 29: The Transfer Student

Transferring schools now? Luo Yunzhi couldn’t help feeling a little surprised. 

After all, it was already the second year of high school. 

The college entrance exam would come shortly after third year.

Transferring at a time like this… Not only were the curricula at different schools out of sync, but she would have to rebuild all her social connections from scratch.

It could even be called a completely unwise move. Still, everyone had their own life, and the girl had no intention of getting involved.

She didn’t want the headache.

She turned her gaze aside.

“As long as she doesn’t notice me, it’s fine.” Luo Yunzhi sat in her corner and murmured softly, watching the students filing into the school one after another outside the window.

She only wanted to finish high school peacefully, get into a decent university, and then find a job at some company close to home after graduation.

“Shh, the teacher’s here.”

“Is that the transfer student in the back?”

While the girl’s thoughts drifted, the chatter in the classroom gradually died down. 

In its place, two figures walked in through the classroom door.

The middle-aged woman in front was naturally the homeroom teacher, and the one behind her had to be the transfer student.

No wonder her classmates said the new girl looked rich… Although Luo Yunzhi didn’t recognize any brands, the accessories the transfer student wore were obvious enough.

A silver necklace hung around her neck with a large ruby pendant. 

She wore a gold ring on her finger and a jade bracelet on her wrist.

Sunlight streaming in through the windows fell on the transfer student, making every piece of jewelry sparkle and gleam.

The light was almost blinding.

The girl shielded her eyes.

“That light could fight monsters,” Luo Yunzhi couldn’t help muttering under her breath. 

It took her quite a while to adjust to the slightly dazzling glow.

Maybe it was just her imagination, but the whole classroom seemed brighter. 

Was this what rich people were like? Did they come with their own special effects?

The girl forced a twitch at the corner of her mouth.

She raised her gaze higher.

Luo Yunzhi wanted to see the new girl’s face. 

She was probably wearing delicate makeup, she thought… But when she actually looked, she froze.

The girl was very beautiful, but what caught Luo Yunzhi’s attention was that she had seen her not long ago—and the encounter had left quite an impression.

“It’s that girl?”

She sensed something strange.

At the same time, the homeroom teacher stepped aside at the podium to give the girl center stage. 

“Go ahead and introduce yourself to everyone.”

The girl nodded and walked to the front. 

Her accessories clinked softly with her movements, letting out occasional tink sounds.

She took the white chalk handed to her and wrote her name on the blackboard. 

“My name is Su Qi. I’m the daughter of the current chairman of the Su Group.”

After saying that, the girl stopped speaking.

“Her name is… Su Qi?” 

Only a few seconds after her words fell, the classroom erupted in excited chatter among the students.

Luo Yunzhi listened for a moment and roughly understood why everyone was reacting so strongly. 

The Su Group behind the new girl was extremely wealthy.

It was the largest conglomerate in the neighboring city.

With a market value close to ten trillion.

However, Luo Yunzhi didn’t care about any of that. She simply watched the girl with puzzled eyes, a vague sense of wariness rising in her heart.

After all, Su Qi had wanted to adopt Little White before, even though it had failed because of her.

Plus, the timing was far too perfect. 

Before, it could have been said that Su Qi couldn’t find her, but not long ago Luo Yunzhi had posted videos online.

If someone had tracked the location at the time, they could easily have found her information and arranged a transfer from another city’s school.

There was no other reason for Su Qi to be here.

The homeroom teacher stood at the podium and looked down, seeming to search for something. “It looks like there are no empty seats left in the classroom.”

She turned to Su Qi. 

“How about this? Shall the teacher add a seat for you in the front row?” 

The middle-aged woman asked the girl beside her.

“No need to trouble yourself.”

Su Qi shook her head.

“I’ll sit there.”

“There?”

The homeroom teacher paused, following the direction of Su Qi’s finger. 

She understood at once. “But that spot is right next to the cleaning corner.”

“It’s fine. That one.”

“Alright then.”

The homeroom teacher didn’t say more. She pulled out her textbook and flipped ahead a few pages. 

“Everyone, stop watching the show and preview the lesson material first.”

Even as the teacher spoke, Su Qi stepped down from the podium and headed toward her chosen spot. 

She walked past the other students and finally reached the back-row corner.

The cleaning corner wasn’t far away. 

Although there was a desk there, no one had used it in a long time. 

After all, nobody wanted to sit next to the trash.

Luckily, the classroom was kept very clean.

There was no smell.

“Hello. We meet again.”

“……”

Luo Yunzhi’s seat was right beside Su Qi’s, by the window. 

Facing the other girl’s words, she didn’t answer right away.

But the other girl was staring straight at her, making it impossible to ignore. She could only reply in a low voice, “Looks like you still remember me.”

“Of course I remember.”

“Because of my looks?”

“No. Because your naming sense is weird.”

“……”

Luo Yunzhi twitched the corner of her mouth. “So, what exactly is your purpose in transferring here?” She asked the question that concerned her most.

No matter how she looked at it, this girl named Su Qi had come with a clear goal. 

Even an idiot could piece together the truth from all the clues.

Next, as expected… the girl would probably put on a bewildered face, deny everything, and act completely innocent.

Luo Yunzhi had already prepared her rebuttal in her mind.

She waited to expose her.

“Ah, you’re asking about my purpose?”

“Yeah. You don’t have one?”

“I do. I came for that black cat.”

“Don’t try to deny it—huh?”
