“Brother, what exactly are you doing?”
Ilya, looking at the badly wounded and miserable Yige’er, couldn’t stop her hands from trembling as she covered her lips.
But she quickly reacted, spreading her arms to shield Shiya behind her, also to prevent her brother from doing something foolish.
“Ilya, why did you follow me?”
This scene seemed completely unexpected for the man, causing him to instantly lower the gun, afraid of accidentally hurting his sister.
Visibly, his momentum weakened a bit.
Even though she was terrified inside, Shiya took a deep breath and forced herself to calm down.
‘Weakness would only lose the initiative in negotiations, steering everything in the worst direction.’
The girl crossed her arms, her tone deliberately cold.
“So it was you who tortured and killed those Student Council members for no reason?”
“Do you think they deserved to die?”
Yige’er was so angered by Shiya’s words that he couldn’t stop sneering.
He countered solemnly, “And killing is just a matter of a blade’s point—I even left their bodies intact, so how is that torture?”
Shiya nodded in agreement.
She approved of the concept of avenging grievances.
The words she just said were only meant to provoke Yige’er and bait him.
The girl continued to imitate Elena’s usual pressing demeanor.
“But what about that female student? She didn’t harm the villagers, so she should be innocent, right?”
This time it was Yige’er who looked confused:
“What female student?”
Shiya immediately had a guess.
‘Perhaps those horribly mutilated corpses were deliberately staged to hide the truth in plain sight, pinning the female student’s death on Yige’er.’
Yige’er hissed, the injuries all over his body and excessive blood loss making him unable to even hold his hunting rifle steady.
Click
As the gun fell to the ground, Ilya beside him could no longer hold back her tears and rushed to Yige’er’s side.
“Brother, scolding the bad guys is one thing, but why did you give yourself so many wounds?”
The girl said, then began frantically searching the room for a medical kit to treat Yige’er’s wounds.
Seeing his adorable sister so concerned, the brother felt a bit embarrassed and awkwardly turned his head away.
“Ilya, how could those bad guys hurt me?”
“These on my body are just the side effects of the enhancement potion, a minor backlash.”
Still standing outside the door, Shiya lowered her eyes, looking at the dense, blood-eye-like injuries on Yige’er.
She couldn’t help but sigh softly:
“Mr. Yige’er, is this… really necessary?”
Yige’er raised his arms to allow Ilya to apply the healing potion more easily, then leisurely responded to the girl’s question.
“My fiancée always wanted me to become a knight, to uphold justice and protect everyone in the village.”
Shiya keenly caught the information revealed in Yige’er’s words.
Her voice softened, carrying a trace of pity:
“So your fiancée was eventually chosen to be the Flower God’s bride?”
“Other than Ilya, I haven’t seen any young girls or maidens in Flower God Village.”
“So this was the last wish she entrusted to you?”
Yige’er’s face uncontrollably twisted.
Shiya’s extremely soft and slow words seemed to pierce the softest, most unwilling part of his heart.
The man took a deep breath, his voice very low but still clear enough for Shiya outside the door to hear.
“Shut up!”
The girl’s light golden eyes shone with unwavering determination.
To escape Flower God Village, to return and see her younger sister.
She had to be relentless, stepping forward to completely tear apart the last line of defense in the man’s heart.
“First your fiancée, then me, and the next one chosen as the Flower God’s bride, the god’s sacrifice, will be Ilya, won’t it?”
“Mr. Yige’er, you’ve kept your promise to your fiancée and protected the village, but have you thought about little Ilya?”
“So I beg you, escape with us, far away from Flower God Village.”
But the girl’s aggressive pressing did not bring the expected result of Yige’er’s painful struggle.
The man hesitated, even seemed stunned for a moment, then looked at Shiya with a very strange gaze.
“Her Highness the Princess traded you away as a bargaining chip on her own, and she even hid that bit of information from you?”
So much for that.
Shiya’s verbal offensive for so long was foiled by a single light sentence from him, leaving her chest tight.
Her gentle brows furrowed instantly, and her tone carried a rare hint of displeasure and stubbornness.
“Isn’t this all part of your Chief Edwin’s layers of scheming?”
Yige’er sucked in a breath, his shocked gaze as if meeting this otherwise sharp girl for the first time.
“What a pity.”
Yige’er muttered softly, then earnestly began to reveal the truth to the girl before him.
“I already planned to take Ilya and leave the village. I don’t mind taking you along as well.”
“Oh, and don’t tell your Princess sister about this life-or-death matter. Don’t get love-struck at a critical moment.”
The girl waved her fists in discontent, thinking Yige’er was inexplicable, saying things she didn’t understand.
“I also used that Princess just now, you know.”
Time rewound to the next day, the night after Shiya performed a dance for Elena.
Thick fog gradually rose.
The Flower Leaf Forest, originally cut into ruin by golden sword energy, now eerily restored its lush and verdant appearance.
A charming rural woman around thirty to forty years old hurried along, nervously glancing back every few steps.
She seemed to be in some trouble.
And it was close at hand.
“Hehehe, where are you running, big sister?”
Several Student Council members with lewd smiles surrounded the charming woman from front and back.
Then, without hesitation, they dragged her into a small patch of grass nearby.
However, just as these reckless Student Council members were gloating,
a moon hung high in the sky, spreading its light, casting layers of silver frost through the mist in the air.
It also illuminated the sharp claws of a black monster.
Each time he used the enhancement potion, Yige’er, an ordinary man, could feel the surge of power in his chest.
He crawled on all fours, lying prone on a tall tree crown, looking down at the Student Council members below who were tearing at the charming woman’s clothes.
‘Before leaving Flower God Village, I have to create some chaos, ideally making these students completely oppose the villagers. The blood of these beasts is just right.’
With a flash of cold light, his claws sliced down from above, cutting through a Student Council member’s skull.
That was how it should have gone.
But a holy sword, brilliant as flowing gold, blocked in front, stopping the attack.
Shing
As the sword’s owner swung it forcefully, sparks of metal clashing flew.
Yige’er, in his monster form, staggered back, feeling his arms incredibly weak.
He landed on all fours, leaping back a large step, his fanged lips parting as he panted heavily.
Yige’er warily watched the beautiful golden-haired figure standing proudly before him, holding the sword unmoving.
‘I’ve fallen into a trap. This is a deliberate setup, a staged act for me.’
His heart pounded violently from the tremor.
‘I have to escape. Shiya and Ilya are waiting for me to flee Flower God Village tonight!’
