Bai Lili looked at the beast whimpering before her and thought it was quite intelligent. She felt there was no harm in taking it in—her family could certainly afford to raise it.
Seeing that Bai Lili seemed to have given up on punishing it, the beast lowered its head to a level where she could easily mount it.
Bai Lili looked at the beast like this and asked in confusion,
“Are you signaling for me to sit on you?”
The beast seemed to understand and nodded. Bai Lili leaped onto its back. Except for the scales being a bit hard, everything else was fine.
Lilith looked at the beast thoughtfully and said to Bai Lili,
“Lili, taking this roughly 3.5-meter beast out like this is way too flashy.”
Su Ruo and Qing Hanyin also nodded—it really was too conspicuous. Riding such a tall beast out might even cause some chaos.
Bai Lili thought it over but couldn’t think of a good method. She wasn’t a summoner who could tame a beast or summon from the void.
Seeing that Bai Lili had no solution, Lilith spread her bat wings, flew to her side, tugged at her clothes, and whispered in her ear,
“Lili, I do have a method. Because of our bond, you should be able to use some Blood Clan magic.”
Bai Lili nodded. Lilith whispered softly in her ear, causing her cheeks to flush. After understanding Lilith’s words, Bai Lili asked,
“What do I need to do?”
Lilith glanced at Bai Lili and took out a piece of paper from her backpack. The material wasn’t ordinary—it seemed specially custom-made for Lilith.
Lilith bit her finger, letting a few drops of blood seep out. She precisely smeared it onto the paper, and as she moved her finger, a magic circle formed. Lilith said,
“This is the magic circle our Blood Clan uses specifically to contract beasts, Lili. You just need to drop your blood on it, and then the beast’s blood as well.”
Su Ruo and Qing Hanyin were below and couldn’t hear what Lilith and Bai Lili were saying, but they understood how to take the beast out.
Following Lilith’s instructions, Bai Lili bit her finger and dripped a little blood onto the paper. The beast seemed to know what to do; it used its sharp little claws to scratch itself and let a drop of blood fall onto the paper too.
The paper floated slowly into the air, emitting a dazzling red light, then dissipated into dust. Bai Lili could sense that a connection had been established between her and the beast.
A magic circle appeared on the back of Bai Lili’s hand, and another appeared on the beast’s head. After only three seconds, the circles vanished.
Bai Lili now roughly understood the beast’s information: its name was Dazzle Dragon, and its skill “Flash” was a strong control ability. No matter who you were, as long as you weren’t blind, if you were hit by the light, you’d be stunned for a fixed four seconds.
‘This is what games call not very strong but a concept god—no matter how strong you are, if you get flashed, you’re stuck in place.’
An idea popped into Bai Lili’s mind. It felt like it would be fun.
Bai Lili pressed the back of her hand against the Dazzle Dragon’s head. The entire beast’s body turned into specks of starlight and entered the magic circle on her hand, and the pattern on her hand changed.
The originally red pattern turned blue, and a Dazzle Dragon pattern appeared on it. Bai Lili felt she could start collecting rare creatures.
Now she also understood why the Academy Director had called it a war correspondent. Through the contract, Bai Lili roughly understood the Dazzle Dragon’s habits: its combat power might be lacking, but its ability to stir up trouble and harass was top-notch.
Whenever the Dazzle Dragon passed by a fight, it liked to flash them. If it was unlucky and angered the wrong crowd, it would easily get itself killed. That’s why there are so few Dazzle Dragons—simply put, they’re too annoying.
Having tamed the Dazzle Dragon, Bai Lili didn’t linger any longer. The Academy Director had told them not to stay in the hunting zone for more than a day, or the portal would close.
Lilith and Bai Lili slowly descended to the ground. Su Ruo and Qing Hanyin kept watch on the surroundings. There wasn’t much activity. The mission was complete, so they could withdraw as soon as possible.
By the time Bai Lili and the others returned to the teleportation area, the sky was no longer as bright as when they had arrived. Then, for some unknown reason, a huge roar came from the distance. Hearing it, Bai Lili instinctively turned to look.
That kind of roar didn’t sound like something a monster from a tier-3 hunting zone could make. Bai Lili didn’t think too much about it—it was important to leave now.
The four of them returned to the academy through the portal. By the time they got back, it was nearly evening. Bai Lili dragged her tired body back to the dorm with Lilith and the other two.
Qing Hanyin brought the prepared food to the table. Bai Lili was starving. She had thought dealing with a tier-4 beast would be quick, but she didn’t expect that Dazzle Dragon to be so annoying.
Its damage wasn’t high, but it was fast and had control. Still, taming this Dazzle Dragon was a net gain.
Bai Lili wolfed down her food at the table. Lilith only took a few symbolic bites before pulling out the blood bag given by Vivianna. Bai Lili had asked for it for her, to prevent Lilith from always finding excuses to suck her blood.
Su Ruo and Qing Hanyin ate unhurriedly, Su Ruo elegantly and Qing Hanyin with poise. Bai Lili didn’t know how Qing Hanyin could maintain such composure having grown up in the slums, but she figured that anyone who could survive in the slums must have hidden strength.
After eating her fill, Bai Lili lay on the sofa. She thought about where to keep the Dazzle Dragon she had tamed. The dorm was big, but it couldn’t fit a 3.5-meter beast. She decided to go home tomorrow.
Bai Lili picked up her phone, found her father’s number, and called. The call was answered quickly.
“Hello, Lili, is something the matter?”
Bai Lili heard the slightly tired voice on the other end. It seemed her father hadn’t been resting much due to piled-up work. Bai Lili said,
“Hey Dad, I need to come home tomorrow. Please prepare some meat at home—the kind for magical beasts.”
A puzzled voice came from the other end.
“Lili, why do you need meat for magical beasts?”
Bai Lili scratched her cheek. It was hard to explain over the phone. She couldn’t just say she had tamed a beast that liked being a war correspondent, could she? So she said,
“You’ll find out tomorrow. Then you’ll know the reason.”
Before Bai Qing could speak, Bai Lili hurriedly hung up. She was quite afraid of Bai Qing asking question after question.
Bai Lili then thought of how this Dazzle Dragon liked to join in on the excitement, and its attribute was strong light. She could have her father design a large camera for it.
Thinking of this, Bai Lili sent her design ideas to her father via Q Chat and told him to prepare.
Then Bai Lili got ready to wash up and sleep. She had to go home tomorrow and would be busy.
Bai Lili returned to her room, placed her mask by the bedside, set the knife from her waist in the corner, and lay down on her soft big bed. She hugged her large tail, curled up, covered herself with the blanket, and fell into a deep sleep.
The next morning, Bai Lili got up, ate breakfast, and hurried home.
Bai Lili’s mother and father were waiting at the mansion’s main gate. When they saw the driver had brought Bai Lili back, they quickly came forward to greet her.
Li Meng rubbed Bai Lili’s head with a smile and said,
“Lili, is there something you want to show us?”
Bai Lili obediently nodded. Bai Qing was carrying the large camera she had mentioned. He was baffled; this thing didn’t look like it was meant for people to use.
Bai Lili saw that Bai Qing had built the thing she described in just one night and couldn’t help but admire her father’s efficiency.
Bai Lili pulled them into the manor and told the butler to close the main gate. Inside the manor, Bai Lili extended her hand. The pattern on the back of her hand glowed faintly, and the Dazzle Dragon was summoned again.
Bai Qing and Li Meng were very surprised. They hadn’t expected Bai Lili to actually bring them a magical beast, and it didn’t seem hostile at all.
Bai Qing didn’t know the beast’s name, but Li Meng knew it well. This beast was very rare, and because it was so notorious, it was often beaten up by other magical beasts.
Bai Lili handed the camera to the Dazzle Dragon. The camera had a strap that could be hung around the dragon.
The Dazzle Dragon fiddled with the camera in its hands. It discovered that the camera could emit a strong light slightly weaker than its own flash. Although it had no mental attack, the Dazzle Dragon seemed to like it very much.
Bai Qing looked at the beast and became interested. He wanted the manor’s guards to test its strength.
He called over guards, most of whom were tier-4. When enough had gathered, Bai Qing said to Bai Lili,
“Lili, Dad wants to test this beast’s strength for you.”
Bai Lili hadn’t even finished speaking.
“Don’t…”
But Bai Qing had the guards surround the Dazzle Dragon. Li Meng was secretly laughing on the side; she was also looking forward to seeing Bai Qing’s expression when he saw what the dragon could do.
The Dazzle Dragon seemed to perceive something. It looked at the people surrounding it, its antennae spread open and emitted a blinding white light. At the same time, it pressed the shutter on the camera in its hands, and flashes came one after another. Even Bai Qing, standing nearby, was flash-blinded and couldn’t open his eyes.
Bai Qing seemed to realize something. By the time he recovered his senses, the Dazzle Dragon had already returned to Bai Lili’s side. Although the guards were unharmed, this dragon’s skill was truly ‘dazzling’ and eye-catching—even he, standing nearby, couldn’t open his eyes under the intense light.
It was hard to say about anything else, but its survival ability was indeed very strong. It was also fast, and perhaps it could save Lili’s life one day.
