The dorm room was eerily quiet, so silent that even the occasional breeze outside the window seemed to tiptoe past, afraid to disturb the suffocating stillness that could choke a witch.
Sally and Huli huddled together on one end of the sofa like two frightened quails, not daring to breathe too loudly.
They kept glancing at each other, their eyes exchanging helpless messages in the air before darting away again.
Sally opened her mouth, seemingly wanting to say something to break the terrifying silence, but the words stuck in her throat as if blocked by a wad of cotton.
She could only swallow dryly, forcing the unspoken words back down.
The culprit responsible for this oppressive atmosphere was currently sitting on the sofa opposite Sally and Huli.
Tunzuo pressed herself tightly against the armrest of the sofa, wishing she could melt into a shadow and slip into the crevice to put as much distance as possible between herself and that perverted golden dragon.
Her face was as dark and gloomy as a wet rag, looking like it could be wrung out to drip water.
Her delicate features were twisted with extreme disgust and loathing.
In her hand, Tunzuo clutched a stainless steel clothes hanger she had dug up from somewhere, her arm rigidly straight.
She used it to firmly keep Olivia, who sat at the other end of the sofa, at bay, making it abundantly clear she didn’t want the other witch coming an inch closer.
That clothes hanger was Tunzuo’s last line of psychological defense.
If Olivia dared to cross that line, Tunzuo would not hesitate to use the metal rod to poke out Olivia’s eyes.
“Stay away from me! You perverted dragon witch! Even your breathing disgusts me!”
Tunzuo hissed the words through gritted teeth, her voice low and filled with venom, like a rattlesnake shaking its tail at an invader.
In contrast, Olivia, the young lady of the Golden family, showed absolutely no awareness of being the rejected party.
She sat elegantly at the far left end of the sofa, one hand propping up her chin, her head tilted.
Her brilliant golden vertical pupils seemed to have a built-in “favorability filter.”
Right now, she was staring at Tunzuo with a gaze of infatuation, as if beholding a peerless treasure.
A gentle yet greedy smile played on Olivia’s lips.
In her eyes, the object in Tunzuo’s hand wasn’t a tool to keep her away, but a rose offered to her.
“Don’t be so tense, little ghost. I’m not a bad witch. I’ll be very good to you~”
Olivia’s voice was soft, laced with a hint of doting seduction.
As she spoke, Olivia shifted her hips slightly, inching her body closer to Tunzuo, attempting to shorten the physical distance that pained her heart.
“Back! Back! Back!”
Tunzuo reacted swiftly, thrusting the clothes hanger forward to precisely press against the collar of Olivia’s suit jacket, forcefully shoving her back to her original spot.
Olivia wasn’t annoyed by Tunzuo’s rejection.
She simply sat quietly on the sofa, her eyes roaming over Tunzuo, searching for an opening, patiently waiting for the next opportunity to breach the defenses.
Watching the dragon-and-tiger struggle unfolding before her, Sally felt like she was about to split in two.
On one side was the murderously hostile and disgusted Tunzuo; on the other was the persistently clingy and seemingly enjoying-herself Olivia.
How was she supposed to choose?
As for how things had escalated to this point, we have to go back half an hour.
Originally, Sally had been excitedly planning to take Huli to the Aerial dueling arena to practice flying techniques.
As an active and lively black cat witch, Sally felt it was her duty to teach Huli how to soar gracefully through the sky.
However, since the riding classes began, Huli’s fear of heights hadn’t improved; it had gotten worse.
The moment Sally flew her broom just up to treetop height, Huli, sitting behind her, would already be trembling and on the verge of tears, even dropping the teddy bear she clutched in her arms.
Left with no choice, Sally had to abandon teaching any advanced maneuvers.
She simply took Huli for a couple of lazy laps around the Aerial dueling arena before slinking back to the dorm in defeat.
But who could have predicted that upon their return, they would walk right into the standoff between Tunzuo and Olivia?
The moment they pushed open the dorm door, two terrifying waves of magical pressure nearly blasted Sally and Huli right back out.
The air was thick with the scorching smell of dragonfire and the chilling aura of shadows.
The two magical forces clashed violently within the narrow living room, making the entire dorm groan as if crying for help.
Fortunately, hearing Sally’s startled gasp, Tunzuo, concerned for the two younger witches, forcefully suppressed her rage and withdrew her shadow magic.
Seeing this, Olivia also took the opportunity to step down, retracting her own domineering golden dragon pressure.
After a fragmented explanation interspersed with Tunzuo’s furious cursing and Olivia’s teasing laughter, Sally and Huli finally grasped the situation.
The new roommate Teacher Sherry had mentioned as being “very capable” was actually Olivia! This was something Sally and Huli had never imagined.
Sally felt both shocked and thrilled.
After all, Olivia was a major celebrity in the witch world.
Being able to live with her idol was something she could boast about for a lifetime.
But Sally’s excitement didn’t last long, soon drowned by immense worry.
Because both Sally and Huli could see that Tunzuo and Olivia were profoundly incompatible.
Tunzuo’s disgust for Olivia was off the charts.
If not for their presence, Sally was sure Tunzuo would plant her fist squarely on Olivia’s face the very next second.
And Olivia?
While she appeared gentle and refined, even the usually oblivious Huli could clearly sense her undisguised possessiveness towards Tunzuo.
If Tunzuo and Olivia were to live under the same roof, could they ever have a peaceful day?
Today it was a standoff; tomorrow, would they start tearing the place apart?
“Huli…”
Sally whispered weakly to Huli, but Huli just hugged her teddy bear, looking pitifully at Sally, her eyes full of helplessness.
Seeing Huli like this, Sally took a deep breath.
As the only witch in the dorm who could possibly mediate between Tunzuo and Olivia, she felt she had to do something.
“Ahem, um, Lady Olivia…”
Sally steeled herself, plastering a smile on her face that was uglier than crying, and awkwardly addressed Olivia.
“Why did you specifically transfer to Han Hai Cheng and get placed in the same class as us?”
Hearing Sally’s question, Olivia finally shifted her gaze away from Tunzuo for a moment.
She swept her hair back gracefully and stated matter-of-factly.
“Isn’t it obvious? Of course, it’s to pursue my beloved little ghost.”
“Hiss—”
Olivia’s answer made both Sally and Huli suck in a sharp breath simultaneously, their eyes nearly popping out of their sockets in shock.
Pursue?!
The lofty, seemingly unattainable Lady Olivia said she was pursuing Sister TuTu?!
Meanwhile, Tunzuo, sitting at the other end of the sofa, instantly looked like she had just swallowed a fly alive upon hearing Olivia’s words.
Despite their internal shock, Sally and Huli knew Tunzuo would absolutely not accept Olivia right now.
Friendship was questionable, let alone romance.
Helpless, Sally nudged Huli with her elbow and gestured towards the opposite side with her chin, signaling Huli to go try and calm Tunzuo down, while she herself braced to deal with Olivia.
“Um… Lady Olivia?”
Sally scooted over to Olivia’s side, a placating smile on her face, though internally she was panicking.
Olivia turned her head, her gaze sweeping over Sally.
Her tone was gentle and polite, yet ultimately carried a hint of distance.
“Is there something, little black cat?”
“Uh, well, since you’ve already transferred here, we’ll all be roommates from now on.”
Sally chose her words carefully, racking her brains on how to handle Olivia.
“But, you see, matters of the heart… they depend on fate. We shouldn’t rush things, right? Sister TuTu… she’s a bit slow to warm up. And that duel you had with her before might have given her a bit of, um, a fright?”
Sally’s persuasion made Olivia raise an eyebrow.
She glanced at Tunzuo, who was being soothed by Huli, and the smile on her lips deepened.
“Slow to warm up is fine. I’ll win her over slowly. I have plenty of time.”
Olivia’s reply made Sally’s lip twitch. Great, she wasn’t listening at all.
On the other side, Huli was tugging on Tunzuo’s sleeve, whispering.
“Sister TuTu, calm down. Since she’s already our roommate, we’ll be seeing each other all the time. If we break the dorm, Teacher Sherry will scold us. Also, Sally says Lady Olivia is very rich, so our snack budget is sorted…”
“I don’t want her money!”
Tunzuo snorted coldly, but looking at Huli’s pitiful little face, she lowered the clothes hanger in her hand slightly.
“I just don’t want to see her face! It’s so punchable!”
“But… if we don’t let Lady Olivia move in, she doesn’t seem like she’ll leave either…”
Huli pointed at the exquisite golden suitcase beside Olivia.
It was a symbol of status and, at the moment, proof of stubborn persistence.
Tunzuo fell silent.
She knew Huli was right.
After all, Olivia was a shameless, perverted golden dragon.
If she really decided to make a scene, this dorm would likely know no peace.
Finally, after Huli’s earnest persuasion, Tunzuo reluctantly, slowly lowered the clothes hanger in her hand.
“Fine, you win. But this doesn’t mean I accept you. I’m only letting you stay temporarily for Sally and Huli’s sake.”
Tunzuo glared viciously at Olivia, making the compromise.
Olivia knew when to quit while she was ahead.
She elegantly straightened the collar of her suit jacket, which had been wrinkled by the clothes hanger, and nodded with a smile.
“Of course, I understand. I will prove through my actions that I am a perfect roommate and lover.”
Although a temporary ceasefire had been reached, the prolonged confrontation had drained most of Tunzuo’s energy.
She felt a throbbing in her temples and just wanted to escape this living room reeking of dragon.
“I’m tired. I’m going to sleep.”
Tunzuo got up from the sofa, planning to return to her room for a good sleep and forget all the unpleasantness Olivia had brought.
Just then, Olivia called out to her with a smile.
“Little ghost, aren’t you going to show me which room is mine?”
Tunzuo’s steps halted.
She was about to snap back with a “find it yourself” when she suddenly realized a serious problem.
This dorm had a four-bedroom, two-living-room layout.
Sally and Huli each had a room.
Tunzuo had her own room.
And the only remaining empty room… was right next to Tunzuo’s! And there was only a single wall separating the two rooms!
Tunzuo turned her head stiffly, looking at Olivia’s expectant face, then at the sole empty room at the end of the corridor.
A herd of ten thousand alpacas stampeded through her mind.
Ah, damn it! I’ve been set up!
“Over there.”
Tunzuo pointed expressionlessly towards the empty room, her tone as if she were pointing out a crime scene.
“It seems we are fated.”
Olivia picked up her suitcase and followed behind Tunzuo with light, triumphant steps, like a dog’s tail that couldn’t be shaken off.
Arriving at the room door, Tunzuo whirled around, pointing a warning finger right at Olivia’s nose.
“Listen, you perverted dragon. Even though you’re moving in, I will absolutely not accept your pursuit. So behave yourself at night! Don’t do anything out of line, or I’ll skin you alive!”
Olivia stood at the doorway, one hand on the doorframe, the other holding her suitcase.
Hearing this, she just smiled gently, her brilliant golden vertical pupils flashing with a determined light.
“It’s alright, little ghost.”
Olivia spoke softly, her tone filled with confident certainty.
“We have all the time in the world. You will be mine eventually, just as the sun will always rise, and a dragon will always possess its own unique treasure.”
“Pah! Who’s your treasure?! I’ll kick you out sooner or later, you perverted golden dragon! Hmph!”
Furious, Tunzuo flipped Olivia the bird, then slammed her own door shut with a loud bang that shook the entire dorm.
Olivia stood there, looking at the closed door, shaking her head with a helpless yet amused smile curling her lips.
“Still so stubborn. But it’s fine. The more fiercely you resist, the more delicious you’ll taste when I finally win you over completely.”
Olivia licked her lips, muttering to herself as she pushed open her door and entered her room.
In the living room, Sally and Huli slumped on the sofa, completely spent.
Hearing the two doors close one after another, their faces showed relief at having survived the ordeal, but even more so, a deep confusion about their future life.
Sally turned her miserable face towards Huli sitting beside her and asked gloomily.
“Huli, tell me… what will our dorm life become from now on?”
Huli hugged her teddy bear, gazing at the two closed doors at the end of the corridor.
After a long silence, she finally let out a deep sigh and gave an extremely accurate assessment.
“At the very least… it will have nothing to do with peace.”
On one side, a ghost witch who vowed never to yield and just wanted to laze around.
On the other, a golden dragon heiress, wealthy beyond measure, obsessive and mad.
How did a perfectly fine academy life suddenly turn into this?!
