Chapter 34 : The Deviance of a Third-Generation Conglomerate – What Happened at the Club That Day (3)

“Father, I don’t think it’s a good idea to confront him right now. After all, I wasn’t directly hit, so it’s ambiguous to raise an issue.”

I was grabbed by the hair by Cha Kang-hyuk and fell disgracefully.

If such rumors spread, what would I become among my friends?

In his mind, it was simply disgusting how good Cha Kang-hyuk looked.

“So we need to package this well and use it. I’m exceptionally good at that, you know.”

Fabrication and incitement.

That was his specialty.

Director Woo patted Jin-gon’s shoulder and said.

“Moreover, today’s broadcast is clearly about Kang-hyuk. It’s obvious it will fuel people’s anger even more.”

“Indeed, even the title suggests it. I was so excited to watch this that I couldn’t sleep at night.”

‘The Deviance of a Third-Generation Conglomerate – What Happened at the Club That Day.’

It must be about the Cha Kang-hyuk incident.

Since there’s no one as hot as Cha Kang-hyuk on broadcast these days, they’re promoting it with special previews, aren’t they?

“A third-generation chaebol went to a club, caused a disturbance, fought, and even sent someone to the hospital. What a great topic for a broadcast.”

Director Woo was satisfied with the frame he had created.

He had already exploited the Cha Kang-hyuk incident to some extent by airing it as an exclusive.

He also achieved the feat of completely burying his son’s story.

‘Isn’t it funny that I’m getting criticized for simply admonishing some bugs?’

How dare those parasites, who eat the scraps I discard, pick a fight with my son?

I actually disciplined those who should have groveled on their own.

The only regret here was Cha Han Construction, but then an unexpected opportunity arose.

The youngest truly was a blessing.

‘Thanks to him, our broadcast also pretended to be righteous this time.’

A righteous broadcasting company that takes down a third-generation chaebol.

Moreover, KBN is a news specialized channel. The image it gained from this incident was quite significant.

Although it was an action taken for his son, strictly speaking, Cha Kang-hyuk was in the wrong, so he had a point to make.

‘Why would anyone injure someone to that extent?’

It was a bit of bad luck, but what do I care?

Protecting my precious child comes first.

He turned on the SBC channel with a satisfied expression.

Thanks to his youngest sacrificing himself for Cha Kang-hyuk, today’s broadcast became an opportunity for him.

The more ‘That Curious Day’ tears him apart, the more Cha Kang-hyuk will have to lie low.

But what if other issues arise here?

Cha Kang-hyuk is on a direct train to ruin.

‘Well, in fact, he’s already halfway across the river.’

But isn’t it a parent’s heart to try to do something?

They will surely try to silence us with advertisements so that no more negative talk comes out from our side.

“Father, look over there. That’s the footage we aired as an exclusive.”

“Haha, doesn’t Kang-hyuk take to the camera well?”

“What’s with that face… Father, you’ve always been strangely lenient with Cha Kang-hyuk.”

“He’s the advertiser’s son, of course I should be lenient! Don’t do that, let’s focus. We’ll probably get a lot out of this today.”

“Hahahahaha!”

Amidst the father and son’s anticipation, the first scene of Director Woo’s masterpiece, KBN News, began to play.

Cha Kang-hyuk threw a punch, and the victim fell, hitting his head on the curb in front of the parking lot.

“Kang-hyuk’s punch is strong. He just collapsed in one hit.”

“Oh, it’s not that much. That bug was just unlucky. If he had just been hit once, he wouldn’t have gone to the ICU, would he?”

“That’s true. He just happened to hit his head on the parking lot curb.”

“Isn’t that all karma?”

Unlucky bastard.

Still, Woo Jin-gon felt a thousand years of accumulated frustration disappear today.

As expected, the broadcast started with Cha Kang-hyuk causing a major accident.

And then the narrator’s voice.

[The victim has not been able to get up since. What exactly happened at the club that day?]

“They’re sending him off right from the start. Cha Kang-hyuk is truly finished now.”

“Hmm!”

It would be troublesome if Chairman Cha gets too upset.

Whether it’s blackmail or persuasion, it won’t be good if the advertiser’s feelings are shattered.

I just hope he doesn’t watch this broadcast live.

[We needed to hear more from the parties involved.]

“What’s there to hear? We’ve already silenced everyone with money.”

Director Woo snorted and said.

As expected.

From the victim’s mouth in the interview, well-known facts were heard.

-That day, due to a sudden request from a client, I worked late and was leaving work looking disheveled when I collided with a group of people who were smoking. The person was blocking the narrow walkway, so I couldn’t help it. Then, perhaps feeling offended, he started swearing and mocking us, and then began to beat us wildly.

[That person. He was referring to Cha Kang-hyuk, who was known for being built through various sports. He was also famous for being obsessed with exercise.]

Along with the narrator’s voice, interviews with people who knew Cha Kang-hyuk followed.

Along with the statement that he was obsessed with sports and exercise.

Thus, Cha Kang-hyuk was gradually driven into a corner, and conversely, the immersion in the broadcast grew stronger.

“Someone who knows broadcasting well made this. With this incident, Cha Kang-hyuk’s image as an unparalleled chaebol delinquent has been solidified.”

News and current affairs programs are different.

Although Director Woo distorted the facts, it was merely a statement of the incident.

But this program is like an exposé of Cha Kang-hyuk’s life.

His past actions are being revealed in detail like this.

In short, it was like throwing a bomb into a burning house.

“He was already going to be sentenced to prison. It might even be a harsher sentence.”

“Hehehe. Ah, it’s so refreshing.”

Is that all?

The image of Cha Han Construction will also go down the drain.

Even more so because Cha Kang-hyuk is the head of the company.

They put such an unverified person in that position just because he’s his son.

“At this point, advertising isn’t the problem…”

What image could get worse from here?

On the broadcast, Cha Kang-hyuk was becoming a personality disorder.

[But. Is the truth we know everything?]

‘But.’

It’s an adverb used to reverse the current situation.

But what could be reversed here?

Question marks floated above the two father and son’s heads.

It was at that moment.

-Ah, I’m just really unlucky.

A déjà vu occurred through the distorted voice.

Woo Jin-gon sprang to his feet after watching the video that followed the narration.

Director Woo, who was looking at his son, also began to stiffen his expression.

On TV, the situation of that day was being shown with everyone’s faces, except for Cha Kang-hyuk’s, mosaiced.

-What? I don’t know what you’re talking about, you just bumped into me by mistake.

-Mistakes are what bugs like you make.

-What? What did you say?

-Isn’t it true? You live a mayfly life, eating the scraps I give you. Isn’t that right, guys?

No sooner had Woo Jin-gon finished speaking than his two friends snickered and sneered.

Although their faces were mosaiced and voices distorted, the two immediately recognized them.

That the person speaking there was the youngest son of this house.

-Indeed. It’s so noisy when a bug cries.

-Hehehe. My point exactly.

“W-What is this, Father?”

“That’s what I’d like to know. Where did they get this video?”

“Did some reporter bastard sell it to this broadcasting station too?”

“How could that be? We got a written pledge and gave them money. If this breaks, that guy will also be caught for taking money and selling us out.”

“Damn it! Then what is this?!”

Jin-gon pointed at the black box video and stomped his feet frantically.

However, Director Woo was in worse shape.

Even if the incident escalated, his son merely participated in the assault.

Although Jin-gon and his friends hit them a bit, the victims were all fine.

Moreover, they took money and raised no issues.

As long as they had reached a settlement, there wouldn’t be a big legal problem.

But what about him?

He bought people with money, manipulated the truth, and even broadcasted it.

Not only Director Woo’s crime but also the broadcasting station that reported it as an exclusive was now headed for ruin.

“W-We have to stop this broadcast.”

“But what can we do when it’s being shown so blatantly now?”

“At least the reruns… Ugh!”

“Father!”

Director Woo pointed at the broadcast with his hand and clutched the back of his neck.

In it, Cha Kang-hyuk, whose face was the only one revealed, had been trying to stop his friends from the beginning.

-You guys are noisy too. So just stop now.

-What are you talking about, Cha Kang-hyuk. If you’re drunk, just stay still.

Woo Jin-gon, frowning at Kang-hyuk’s words, furiously punched the chest of the trembling 40-year-old man.

-Look at this. This bug bastard is glaring without knowing his place, why should I tolerate him?

-Who’s the real bug-like bastard?!

With a shout, the man’s fist flew.

Despite Cha Kang-hyuk’s attempts to stop them, a brawl began between his group, excluding him, and the office worker group.

Eventually, Cha Kang-hyuk frowned, looking troubled, and stepped between them.

-Hey, don’t cause trouble, just stop…

Thud.

Blind fists rained down on Cha Kang-hyuk’s cheek as he was trying to stop Woo Jin-gon.

It was the first counterattack from the 40-year-old man who had been thoroughly beaten by Jin-gon.

It was the very man who was now in the intensive care unit.

-What is this now?

-What do you mean, ‘what’? This is justice that suits trash like you!

The man poured out all his pent-up anger from Jin-gon onto Kang-hyuk without reservation.

It was at that moment that Cha Kang-hyuk’s fist, which had been hit for no reason, went out reflexively.

-Ugh.

The man’s feet got tangled, and he hit his head directly on the concrete curb.

The video focused on Cha Kang-hyuk, who was staring blankly at the fallen man from his unintended punch, looking at a loss.

The video ended with Cha Kang-hyuk, his face pale, checking the man’s consciousness and quickly calling 911 and the police.

“Ughhhhh!”

“Ah, Father, calm down.”

“Calm down? Do you think this is something to calm down about?”

Director Woo’s vision turned yellow. But that was just the beginning.

Jin-gon’s cell phone next to him started ringing.

-Is this Mr. Woo Jin-gon?

“Yes, it is, who is this?”

-This is the prosecutor in charge of Mr. Cha Kang-hyuk’s case from the Violent Crimes Department of the Central District Prosecutors’ Office.

“Cha, Cha Kang-hyuk?!”

-I called because I have something to investigate regarding the club incident.

Jin-gon dropped his phone and stared blankly at his father.

“What is it? What’s wrong?”

“He says he needs to investigate something because of the Cha Kang-hyuk case.”

“The broadcast just aired, and it makes no sense for the prosecutor’s office to call you. Isn’t this a scam?”

“Right?”

Whether it’s the prosecutor’s office or the police, there’s a procedure.

They don’t just call you in for an investigation immediately after watching a broadcast and getting an idea.

Jin-gon picked up the phone again.

“You must be impersonating a prosecutor. The person on the broadcast isn’t me, you know? You should know what you’re talking about before you call.”

Since his face was mosaiced, he decided to deny it for now.

There was no need to tell the truth to a scammer.

-Ah, you mean the club assault case. We do need to reinvestigate that. But I didn’t call about that.

“What are you talking about now? Stop playing games and hang up!”

-I called about the marijuana case.

Woo Jin-gon, who was about to hang up the phone with momentum, froze instantly.
