Vylian spoke sweet words, but her face was dark as a storm cloud.
The Hero truly was not to be underestimated.
She had thought it would take at least two to three months for this Hero to gain any real combat strength.
But she never expected that in just three days, the girl already possessed such power.
And this was under her very watch, no less.
If she let things continue like this, she might not even need three years before losing her head!
The sense of crisis had never been this heavy.
“Don’t just stand there saying nasty things! Help! Help!”
Just as Vylian gathered the Power of Corruption in her palm, ready to knock the girl before her unconscious, she heard Anlis, frozen in place, struggling to force out a few words.
“Huh?”
Vylian paused, utterly baffled, even her hand freezing mid-motion.
“I just wanted to see if I could unleash all the energy in my body through the sword at once, but now I can’t move a muscle. It hurts, it hurts so much. Am I going to die?!”
The urgency in her voice didn’t sound fake.
After a moment’s thought, Vylian hesitated.
Shifting her energy, she replaced the Power of Corruption with the most ordinary Magic Power, then probed into Anlis’s body.
What she found was that the magic power inside had turned into a chaotic mess, fighting against itself, clashing all at once.
At this rate, Anlis would definitely be torn apart and shredded by this turbulent magic power!
She had become a ticking time bomb, ready to explode at any moment!
That wouldn’t do.
The Hero couldn’t die now.
If she died, the concept would choose a new master.
Letting the Hero develop in the shadows was like hanging a sword over her own head.
That was something she absolutely did not want to see.
Injecting Magic Power, Vylian quickly straightened out the chaotic magic power within Anlis.
Anlis immediately felt her body go limp, collapsing backward into Vylian’s embrace, but she yelped in pain and stiffened. In the end, though, too weak to move, she couldn’t escape Vylian’s arms.
At this point, Anlis was utterly spent, trembling all over from the pain, even a trace of blood seeping from the corner of her mouth.
But at least her life was no longer in danger.
“How did it end up like this?”
Even though Anlis had already explained, Vylian was still puzzled.
She wondered if this idiot had just overexerted her power in some misguided way while half-conscious.
If that was the case, it was actually a good thing.
After all, no matter the system, overexerting power damages the foundation.
Damaging the foundation means cutting off the future, planting hidden risks for future growth.
It unexpectedly aligned with Vylian’s own goals.
“Haha, good thing, good thing you were here.”
Anlis gave two awkward laughs, speaking weakly and breathlessly.
Hearing this, Vylian’s tone carried a hint of resignation.
“You really are reckless, you know. If I hadn’t been watching, that move probably would have sent you straight into the Goddess’s Embrace. See if you dare do that again.”
“I won’t, I won’t. I was just trying it out. Who knew it would turn out like this?”
“What now?”
“I… I want to rest a bit.”
Vylian didn’t refuse. She dragged Anlis over to a nearby tree stump.
Since they were out in the wild, there was nowhere decent to lie down, so Vylian simply laid her flat, resting her head on her own thigh.
A knee pillow was unavoidable given the poor conditions out here. If she just left her there, the blood might rush to her head, causing suffocation, and Anlis the Hero might croak right then and there.
Consider it a privilege for the injured.
With that, the back of Anlis’s head could feel the warmth of the girl’s thigh and the texture of the black silk stockings.
Even from this angle, looking up, the stunning face was still as beautiful as ever.
Anlis had done it on purpose.
It was a huge gamble.
After all, she couldn’t think of any other way to bluff her way through just now.
In a flash of inspiration, she decided to play this card, deliberately scrambling her own magic power to make it look like a magic rampage from using the wrong technique.
She was betting that Vylian wouldn’t let her die so easily, and she was also betting that Vylian would really take it as a mistake in using magic power.
Even though she was basically walking on the edge of death, the result was clear.
She had bet correctly.
But… now was clearly not the time to let her guard down.
With her acting talent, Anlis’s expression was utterly weak, tinged with a hint of pitiful charm.
She needed to win a bit more sympathy to completely snuff out the Demon King’s desire to crush her.
“Vylian, am I a real waste? Even just practicing basic skills got me into this mess. How can someone like me ever embark on the Demon King’s Expedition?”
Her pale face, paired with this frail tone, was simply perfect.
Vylian, unaware, gave a gentle smile, as soft as water.
“It’s okay. Everyone has moments of failure. What matters is regaining your confidence and standing up again. One failure doesn’t mean anything.”
Though it sounded like encouragement, Anlis didn’t take it to heart.
How could she dare to regain confidence?
The Demon King’s words could never be trusted.
If she actually dared to do that, she’d have no idea how she’d die.
“Ah, maybe… I’m just not cut out for this.”
Anlis threw out another self-deprecating line.
Vylian didn’t respond further, just listened quietly.
In her view, that pretty line just now was enough to show her attitude as a companion.
She wasn’t a true Justice Companion, so why would she encourage from start to finish?
Let Anlis digest it herself.
Heehee.
The end result of self-digestion would surely be indigestion.
Humans were, after all, social creatures who needed communication.
Without someone to guide her, it would leave scars on her personality and soul.
Even if she forgot in the future, it would always affect her character.
Compared to a proactive, fearless Hero, Vylian much preferred a deeply insecure Heroine.
Best~
If she could be a useless Heroine who could only rely on her, her nemesis.
If this Hero could truly settle down and live a quiet, peaceful life, then Vylian wouldn’t mind supporting her for a lifetime.
With that, she lay there for an hour, and Anlis finally felt a little better.
The pain in her body, like the agony of a toothpick shoved under a toenail and kicked against a wall, had completely vanished.
“It’s about time to get up and practice the sword.”
Even though the soft, fragrant thigh made a great pillow, Anlis ultimately needed to be diligent.
Sword practice was one of the few training methods Vylian, the Demon King, accepted.
As long as she deliberately did a bad job, the other wouldn’t say a thing.
So, time was precious.
“It’s 4 PM now. Only an hour has passed, Anlis. Your body definitely hasn’t recovered yet. What if some…”
Before she could finish, Anlis decisively gave up on the idea of getting up to practice the sword.
Without waiting for Vylian to rack her brain for more persuasive words, the half-raised head sank back down.
Her beautiful eyes blinked as she looked up at Vylian’s face.
“Since you’re so reluctant to part with me, I’ll just lie here a little longer, heehee.”
“You…”
What sudden nonsense?
This girl!
She’s really…
Vylian was at a loss for words, unable to think of a reply.
Right!
A perverted Heroine whose head was full of junk!
