“How is it? Any results?”
Xin glanced at the pattern on the Tarot cards and asked Noah.
Noah quietly felt the feedback from the divination and announced to everyone, “The World represents permanence and continued success. We have already arrived at the threshold of success; we just need to wait patiently. Entering the Gate of Success is only a matter of time.”
The Primordial Organization members immediately cheered.
The result sounded very positive.
Noah rubbed the World Card in her hand, then placed it face-up on the table.
A field of stars immediately enveloped everyone present.
Within the starry reflection, the members saw a blurred figure tied to an experiment table by a group of people in white coats, doing something unknown.
The starry reflection gradually faded, and Noah put away the deck.
“It’s Yoge.”
Naya said in a serious tone.
“It seems we can’t wait any longer. Who knows what those madmen will do to him. We need to rescue Yoge as soon as possible!”
“He’s Yoge?”
Xin recalled the image in the stars.
“Not what I imagined.”
Naya gave her a puzzled look.
“What do you mean?”
“Shouldn’t he be…”
Xin glanced at Shabu, then gestured with her hands.
“Shouldn’t he have a bunch of tentacles? Otherwise, they wouldn’t look like a couple.”
Naya rolled his eyes in exasperation, ignoring Xin.
He looked around and addressed the entire group.
“Let’s go, comrades. This is our final battle against the New Truth Organization. This fight decides whether we can escape this prison. Come, take your weapons and follow me!”
“Understood!”
The entire Primordial Organization responded immediately.
Everyone gathered all their resources and weapons, then began advancing toward Zone C.
The Research Institute had a total of four zones: A, B, C, and D.
The Sin Organization occupied Zone A at the main gate.
The Primordial Organization occupied Zone B, which held the laboratory.
The New Truth Organization, relying on their familiarity with the place and numerical advantage, occupied both Zone C and Zone D.
Zone C’s incinerator and Zone D’s main control room were both in their hands, and they also guarded the back gate.
In terms of numbers, the Primordial Organization had only about fifty members, while the New Truth Organization included most of the former researchers and low-level failed products, totaling one hundred and twenty people.
That was more than double the Primordial Organization’s numbers.
On top of that, the high-ranking members of the New Truth had undergone Pseudo-God Modification.
Rescuing Yoge from their grasp was an extremely difficult task.
After marching for about ten minutes, the group arrived smoothly at Zone C.
The incinerator here was originally used for disposing of daily garbage and experimental waste.
Since the New Truth had stationed itself here, the furnace was still running.
Blazing heat, accompanied by the deafening roar of the furnace, enveloped everyone.
Suo’en pressed himself against the wall and glanced down the corridor.
There was one New Truth member operating a small furnace.
No one else was in sight. Suo’en looked back at the group and spoke.
“I’ll capture that guy and interrogate him. Everyone stay put and don’t move.”
Suo’en was the organization’s scout leader; handling such a task was second nature to him.
He glanced at the man again, then drew his long blade.
Concealing his presence, he slowly approached.
That New Truth member, who had been slacking off, never expected an ambush.
Suo’en caught him off guard.
He covered the man’s mouth, dragged him back to the group while keeping him subdued, then slammed him against the wall.
Suo’en signaled everyone to surround him.
Suo’en wiped his long blade and said with a grin, “Kid, you dare stay here all alone? Not afraid to die?”
The man, dizzy from the impact, shook his head first.
Then he was startled by the situation.
All the high-ranking members of the Primordial Organization were present, and clearly, he had been captured.
Despite that, he didn’t back down. He sneered.
“Hah, the Primordial Organization’s leader shows up. What’s with the sneak attack? If you’ve got guts, fight us head-on! Do you dare?”
Naya sneered back, about to speak, when he saw Xin push through the crowd and approach.
She waved her hand, using the Steel Refining Art to shape a scalpel.
She brandished the tip across the man’s body in a threatening manner, speaking with a sly smile.
“Pretty cocky, kid. I suggest you loosen your tongue to spare yourself some pain.”
Noah’s divination was not omnipotent; most of the internal details of the New Truth Organization remained unclear.
That was why Suo’en had thought to capture a prisoner to learn about the New Truth’s current situation.
Seeing that Xin was about to torture him for information, the man didn’t show fear—instead, he burst out laughing.
Xin looked at him in confusion, then glanced back at Noah.
“This guy seems insane. Even a random catch is this crazy. Looks like the New Truth is rotten to the core.”
“Me? Insane? Hahahahaha…!”
After hearing Xin’s remark, the man laughed even harder.
He tore open his coat, exposing his chest to everyone.
A red lump, like a heart, began to pulse continuously, growing larger.
Dots of red light radiated outward through the lump.
Naya was shocked; he immediately gestured for everyone to evacuate, shouting loudly.
“It’s bad! It’s a self-destruction! Everyone, get out of here!”
“Too late!”
The man laughed maniacally, shouting with delight.
“This is the gift from the Great Leader! You think you rats can torture me? Dream on! Come meet the great Truth with me!”
The corridor was narrow; there was no room to retreat.
Seeing this, the man grew even more triumphant.
“Great Leader! Please acknowledge my worth!”
“Long live the New Truth!”
Just then, Noah, who had remained still until now, finally moved. She pulled out her Tarot deck and drew a single card, then slapped it onto the man’s face with a crisp sound.
She held her breath and focused, reciting.
“[Temperance]! Cease and desist!”
The curse, filled with Star Divine Power, fell.
The lump on the man’s chest immediately stopped pulsing.
He pulled the Temperance Card off his face and looked blankly at the group as they closed in again.
Naya stared at Noah, who was reshuffling her deck, and said in disbelief, “Darling, can the Temperance Card be used like that?”
“Temperance can cancel an ability that is about to take effect.”
Noah put the cards away and explained.
“But it can only be used once every long while. Now was the right time.”
“Move it! That bastard scared me!”
Xin pushed through the crowd again.
She pulled a surgical kit from her pocket, placed it on the ground, and opened it.
A clatter of various surgical instruments spread out.
Xin looked up at the man and said in a cold tone, “Do you have any more skills? If not, I’m starting.”
