The direction Liumi Ong pointed to revealed a girl lying there—an all-too-familiar face. Because the impression she left was so deep, the girl could immediately say her name.
Baiya Ifeil Clorom.
The girl took a deep breath, trying to calm herself.
“…Your Highness Liumi Ong, I beg you once again, please do not call me by my name. I am the slave girl 【Master of Life and Death】, your property and nothing more. Of course, it is your freedom to do so, but I merely offer a reasonable suggestion—calling a slave by name does not suit the dignity of a master.” The girl bowed respectfully, appearing entirely as a composed and virtuous maid.
Yet as she straightened her back, surprise, confusion, and anger flickered across her face, eventually settling into calm.
“Please forgive my rudeness, Your Highness Liumi Ong.” The girl lowered her eyelashes. “Although it is very rude of me, I wish to know the reason behind this.”
“Of course, I will not disobey your wishes. I will willingly accept any punishment for offending you. As a slave, I should not question my master’s orders so much.”
Not yet time to die. The last words Baiya left before falling completely silent flashed through the girl’s mind.
The girl inhaled deeply once more, then exhaled slowly, using it to soothe her restless heart.
“But I want to know.” Hearing her own voice, she was surprised by how firm it sounded. “The reason you gave this order, even if it is a very selfish request! Please, I beg you, tell me!”
Unconsciously, her tone grew higher, tinged with personal emotion.
How strange, the girl thought—this was the first time she had ever dared to speak like this. No matter who her master was, she had never spoken such words before.
A slave only needed to obey orders, that belief deeply rooted in her mind—when had it started to waver?
It didn’t matter anymore. The girl quietly waited for Liumi Ong’s reply.
She didn’t wait long, only two or three seconds.
“Very well, if you want to know, if it is your request, my slave girl,” Liumi Ong said calmly as he looked at her, “then I shall grant it.”
The girl involuntarily shivered, a cold sweat sliding down her cheek. This was the subconscious fear and dread of her master—a brand a slave could never erase in a lifetime.
“T-Thank you for the master’s grace. I am deeply grateful…” Despite the twisted pain in her heart, for a moment she felt like giving up, but she kept telling herself she had to persist.
The feeling was baseless; only this answer mattered. She absolutely could not retreat.
She was willing to pay any price for it! This weighty matter made the girl uneasy yet awakened a long-lost excitement.
“I suppose I must explain the reason quickly. She won’t last long—more precisely, she’s already slowly slipping into death without really holding on. Reincarnation Amity, you can understand this, right? Your racial talent doesn’t work on the dead—of course, I mean the living side of things. You know that, don’t you?”
Listening to Liumi Ong’s calm words, the girl finally understood why he ordered her to revive Baiya. Healing the dying is a physician’s duty, but she had no ability to cure—her specialty was slaughter.
She finally understood: Liumi Ong valued her racial talent and wanted to use it to bring Baiya back.
That was an utterly ridiculous idea.
What was even more unbelievable was that Baiya Ifeil Clorom was still alive. Was this slave an undead? If she were just an ordinary person, her perseverance alone to survive until now was terrifying.
“Indeed, among the abilities developed from my racial talent ‘Law of Life and Death,’ there is one called ‘The Scales of Burial and Resurrection,’ which can completely revive those on the brink of death.”
“But do you really want me to use this ability? This forbidden killer’s power—have you truly thought this through?”
The girl placed her hand on her chest. Although she spoke very calmly, Liumi Ong detected a faint tone of threat in her words.
When they first met, this slave girl named Reincarnation Amity had introduced her racial talent, power level, and the abilities she had developed—slowly, carefully, and without hiding a single secret. None of it was false. She had taken a secret potion called Trick; if she lied, her whole body would burn in pain and redness for an hour.
The rebellion of a slave girl was something all masters had to be wary of. None ever forgot how terrifying the power hidden beneath a beautiful girl’s exterior could be. Therefore, they would use any means to find their slaves’ weaknesses, understand their abilities, and ensure they had a way to kill them if they ever went berserk.
After understanding the girl’s abilities, Liumi Ong naturally had the means to kill her, thus achieving complete control over the slave girl.
Liumi Ong was fully aware of her power.
Still, the girl couldn’t help but remind him again. Although the possibility was very low, she felt as if Liumi Ong had forgotten the nature of her abilities.
If he truly remembered, he would understand that a slave girl was a killing weapon. Her racial talent and the abilities developed from it existed solely to kill enemies more effectively.
The girl wanted Liumi Ong to voluntarily abandon ordering her to use ‘The Scales of Burial and Resurrection.’ If he really understood her meaning, he would make a reasonable choice.
“Now listen to my reason.” Liumi Ong slowly closed his eyes. His pale, snow-white skin, illuminated by the cold light, made him look like an exquisite corpse.
“This is also something you want to know.”
Your Highness Liumi Ong didn’t answer her question directly but shifted the topic to why he wanted to revive Baiya, making the girl unable to suppress a flicker of irritation.
But what he said was not wrong—she truly wanted to know why the Third Prince of Amidale wanted to save a dying slave.
“Reincarnation Amity, do you know when Baiya Ifeil Clorom lost consciousness?” Liumi Ong’s voice was very serious. This question was crucial.
