Lin Shuran followed a group of black-robed people through the secluded forest. Behind her, two black-robed figures held Long Chen by the arms, occasionally forcing a potion into his mouth to ensure he couldn’t move.
Lin Shuran punched a nearby tree in anger. There was also a huge footprint on her body, clearly from Xuan Long’s big foot. Her voice trembled with uncontrollable fury as she said, “That damn Bai Lili, she even had a magical beast helping her. I really underestimated her.”
The cultists nearby didn’t know what to do seeing their Saintess so furious. One of them, with a shifty-eyed face, spoke up. “Saintess, why do we have to capture that young lady from the Bai family?”
Lin Shuran just glanced at the shifty-eyed cultist, her expression returning to calm. She had no intention of telling them that her goal was never to summon the evil god, but to use its power to swap lives.
And her target was Bai Lili’s life—a life where everyone loved her, where she did nothing and still received so much affection. That made Lin Shuran envious. Her own abilities came from the evil god’s power. She could say that without the evil god, she had nothing.
Lin Shuran planned to execute Plan B. Since Bai Lili was still in this city, she estimated Bai Lili was lying in the hospital right now and wouldn’t be able to escape anytime soon.
…
Back to Bai Lili’s side. Bai Lili didn’t want to let Lin Shuran get away so easily, after all, that woman had nearly killed her. And her goal was to summon an evil god—something that couldn’t be ignored.
But she really had no way to deal with it for now. She could only recover in the hospital and hope that Lin Shuran wouldn’t launch a sneak attack.
Bai Lili lay in her hospital bed, looking at the other three people beside her, and started thinking. The tentacles Lin Shuran summoned probably weren’t that strong, but the poison on them limited their abilities, leaving her unable to struggle at all.
As Bai Lili lay on her bed staring at the ceiling, she suddenly felt something cool burrow into her blanket. She looked down and saw a pink-haired ball of fluff in her covers. Turning her head to look at Lilith’s bed, she found no one there.
Now Bai Lili was sure—the pink-haired ball in her blanket was Lilith. Lilith wriggled a bit inside Bai Lili’s blanket and poked her head out. Bai Lili was confused how Lilith had managed to neutralize the poison so quickly, so she asked, “Lilith, is your poison already cured?”
Hearing this question, Lilith shifted to a more comfortable position, pulled Bai Lili—who still couldn’t move freely—into her arms, and leaned against the wall. With a hint of pride in her voice, she said, “Lili, do you remember that blood pool?”
Bai Lili nodded. “I remember. I soaked in it with you back then.”
Lilith continued, “That blood pool can refine bloodlines. Right now, I don’t really have powers—I have racial abilities.”
Bai Lili roughly understood what Lilith meant. That meant that when Long Chen couldn’t copy Lilith’s power earlier, it was because Lilith had already become a full-blooded member of the Blood Clan. Lilith added, “Now I can expel the poison by controlling my blood.”
Seeing how energetic Lilith was, Bai Lili had no choice but to believe her. For now, she couldn’t resist any of Lilith’s actions, but Lilith was sensible and didn’t do anything—just lay beside Bai Lili.
Outside the door, Bai Qing and Li Meng watched the surveillance feed on their phones and exchanged opinions. Bai Qing said, “Wife, what do you think of this Lilith girl? I feel like her relationship with our Lili is more than just friends.”
Li Meng nodded seriously. “From what I can see, Lilith has the closest relationship with Lili. They must have experienced a lot in that unknown place.”
Bai Qing spoke beside her, “Then what about our daughter’s engagement? After all, there’s still the betrothal with Su Ruo. Su Ruo did say she would cancel it once Bai Lili found someone she liked, but I don’t think Su Ruo will actually do that.”
Li Meng nodded in agreement. She knew that Su Ruo was after their Lili. Then she said, “Let’s observe for now. I think Qing Hanyin and Su Ruo are also not simple. We’ll wait for Lili to tell us herself later.”
Bai Qing rubbed his chin and raised a question. “Meng, what if our Lili wants all of them?”
Li Meng waved her hand. “Then she’ll have all of them. The achievements of these three won’t be low in the future. Even if we want to stop her, we won’t be able to.”
Bai Qing nodded, indicating he understood. The rest of the road had to be walked by Bai Lili herself, because the help they could provide was limited. Abilities hadn’t been around long, so there weren’t many strong people right now. The current strongest was Bai Lili’s academy dean, who could only match a seventh-rank magical beast.
Bai Qing seemed to think of something and asked, “Meng, what about Lili’s Xuan Long?”
Li Meng answered with a smile, “It’s in the woods outside the city. Don’t worry, no one will find it. That Xuan Long is very fast—probably no one will bother chasing it.”
…
Over at Lin Shuran’s location, in an underground base, a sacrificial formation was drawn on the ground, surrounded by cultists. The controlled students and teachers were locked in cages to prevent them from escaping once the control wore off.
Lin Shuran ordered a cultist beside her, “Throw Long Chen onto the magic circle.”
Long Chen’s mouth was gagged, so he could only let out whimpering sounds as he was thrown onto the formation. The cultists around muttered words Long Chen couldn’t understand, but he knew he was in deep trouble.
When the ritual was complete, a rift appeared in the air. A monster resembling an octopus crawled out of it, about ten meters tall. It looked like it had come from the deep sea. It had ten eyes on its head, all fixed on Lin Shuran. Feeling the pressure bearing down on her, Lin Shuran sensed two streams of energy suddenly enter her body.
The octopus monster shifted its gaze elsewhere, observing its surroundings. All the cultists prostrated themselves, bowing to the summoned octopus monster. Lin Shuran felt the energy inside her. She stretched out her hand and realized she could use Long Chen’s ability now.
The octopus monster pointed at Long Chen, who was already collapsed on the ground. Lin Shuran immediately understood—the monster wanted her to bring Long Chen. Though they didn’t understand what the evil god they had summoned wanted with Long Chen, Lin Shuran and the others complied.
