The demon woman made the first move.
The crystal ball suddenly erupted with multiple black light pillars, surging toward Moya and the others.
“Hmph, dropping the act, are we?”
Moya snorted coldly.
The massive holy light spears she had gathered behind her collided with the demon woman’s black light pillars, exploding and causing the entire tent to tremble violently.
“If you all wanted it, I would naturally give it. But as you just taught me, I must consider everyone’s opinions.”
The demon woman’s sweet smile did not waver.
More purple mist seeped from the wounds on her chest and abdomen, eroding and weathering Moya’s holy light spears.
The crystal ball’s attacks showed no sign of weakening.
“Clearly, not everyone wants me to hand over this crystal ball. So please allow me to refuse by force. After all, this crystal ball was originally mine. The cloaked man only borrowed it to play with for a while out of the kindness of his heart.”
The first half of the demon woman’s words made her meaning clear—
She was referring to the fake head of the household.
The fake head swallowed hard and lowered his head, not daring to meet the gazes of Moya and the others.
This was a natural reaction for a young child, but this was no place for a young child to be.
A black light pillar quietly slipped past Moya’s holy light spears, hurtling straight toward the bowed fake head!
“Watch out!”
Ed’s longsword finally left its sheath.
In one stroke, he severed the black light pillar the demon woman had sent at the fake head.
“You idiot! What are you doing! If you want to die, don’t drag my body down with you!”
The beggar girl, who had already found a corner to hide in, quickly pulled the fake head close and angrily scolded him for his stupor.
Feeling the heat wave about to hit his face severed by Ed’s white sword light, the fake head finally woke as if from a dream.
His face pale, he realized that death had been merely a hair’s breadth away.
He had been thinking about many things just now, but never once considered the possibility that he might die here.
“Keep your eyes open. Don’t assume that just because she puts on a sweet smile, she’s some good person. Your suffering is nothing more than a snack to pass the time in her eyes. One second she can tempt you with the sweetest voice, and the next she can exploit your unpreparedness to take your life. Entrusting your choices to someone like that—do you really think you’re holding your own life firmly in your hands?”
While manipulating her holy light spears to tear through the demon woman’s black light pillars, Moya didn’t forget to scold the fake head behind her.
“You two focus on dodging and hiding. This bitch knows she can’t beat me and Ed, so she’s trying to find a breakthrough through you.”
The beggar girl nodded and pulled the fake head even tighter.
But as the two backed away step by step, the fake head felt his back bump into a figure.
His first instinct was that it was the beggar girl, but the touch on his back was clearly not her petite frame.
Turning around, he saw a clown beaming with joy, staring at him, ready to kidnap him.
“Damn it.”
Ed, who had been keeping an eye on the two behind him, thought a single word of dismay.
After slashing through six black light pillars rushing toward him with his silver-white sword aura, he immediately dashed toward them.
The clown moved fast, but Ed was faster.
The strength of the hero finally showed itself in that moment.
In half a breath, Ed had already weaved through the barrage of black light pillars.
A flash of silver-white sword aura passed—
The clown was unharmed, but collapsed unconscious to the ground with that eerie smile still on his face.
“Can’t win on raw strength, so you resort to cheap tricks.”
Seeing that Ed had protected the real and fake heads in time, Moya breathed a silent sigh of relief.
She snorted coldly, her holy light spears tearing through the demon woman’s black light pillar defenses, preparing to strike a fatal blow.
“No choice. This is my home turf, after all. Naturally, I have to make the most of what I have.”
The demon woman snapped her fingers.
She sidestepped to avoid Moya’s flying holy light spear.
More and more circus members appeared before Ed.
“These are all real humans, you know? Sir Hero, you must be very careful when you strike. I don’t think anyone wants to accidentally kill someone, right?”
Contrary to the demon woman’s words, the circus members pressed forward toward Ed, trying to forcibly kidnap the fake head and the beggar girl.
“Quite the grand display.”
Sensing more and more figures behind her, Moya finally shed the laziness in her eyes.
Her clear blue pupils locked tightly onto the demon woman.
“What can I say? I don’t want to go to prison. I think I’m pretty aggrieved here. I didn’t do the body-swapping thing. These circus members are all people who lost hope in life and stayed voluntarily. I just gave them a beautiful dream they’d never have to wake from. And just because that fake head caused this accident when he restored his body, you already bear such prejudice against me. What other choice do I have but to resist?”
The demon woman’s tone sounded aggrieved, as if Moya and Ed had truly wronged her.
Moya shook her head.
She didn’t want to argue with the demon woman’s sophistry anymore.
She felt that saying one more word would just be wasting her own off-duty time.
She glanced back.
After confirming the significant number of circus members behind her, Moya sighed.
If possible, she wanted to complete this commission without drawing on the church’s holy light reserves.
That way, she could get Ed’s bonus on top of her normal church salary—
Double the profit, beautiful.
But it seemed unlikely now.
To catch the ringleader, first catch the leader.
To deal with the large group of circus members behind her, the easiest way was to subdue the demon woman first.
Although this demon woman’s combat ability was mediocre, her evasive skills were top-notch, making Moya increasingly irritated.
No choice.
She’d just have to take a pay cut.
Without further words, Moya’s clear blue pupils turned golden.
A vast surge of holy light power erupted and gradually condensed into form in her palm.
The demon woman frowned.
She had originally thought Moya might once again blast through everything with a flood of holy light like last time, and had prepared countermeasures for that.
But now, it seemed different.
As the demon woman pondered, the vast holy light power in Moya’s palm had finished condensing.
A massive holy light spear shot toward the demon woman.
Just a single massive holy light spear?
That should be easy to dodge, right?
The demon woman grew even more suspicious, but dared not slack off.
She quickly manipulated the crystal ball to float up and evade Moya’s holy light spear.
Though unclear of the massive spear’s true nature, she knew she couldn’t take it head-on.
Full evasion was the best strategy.
Just as her body brushed past the holy light spear, the demon woman saw Moya suddenly flash a sinister smile.
“I knew you liked playing the parkour dodge game.”
“I’m not here to play some kid’s game with you. This move was tailor-made for people like you.”
Before the demon woman could process the meaning of Moya’s words, the holy light spear that had passed her let out a violent roar and exploded midair!
“Even though it looks like a spear, it’s actually a bomb.”
