“Hah? Of course I’m not scared!”
Guchuan Xing patted the nonexistent dust off her clothes, trying to save face.
Qin Huan blinked, not calling her bluff.
She just softly said, “Oh,” then turned and continued walking.
Ju Zhenli still stood half a step in front of Qin Huan.
She didn’t look back at Guchuan Xing’s embarrassment, simply holding Qin Huan’s hand quietly.
The door to Ward No. 3 was ajar; a crooked nameplate hung on it, the lettering worn and indistinct.
Qin Huan pushed the door open.
The ward was unexpectedly spacious, with three hospital beds.
The bedding on them was messily piled up, as if someone had thrown it aside in a panic.
The monitors at the head of the beds still emitted beeping sounds, and green lines pulsed weakly on the screens.
On the bed farthest inside, there seemed to be a person lying down.
A white sheet was drawn from head to toe, outlining a blurred human figure.
“Isn’t that just a person?”
Guchuan Xing’s voice rang out from the doorway.
She kept her hands in her pockets, but absolutely refused to step into the ward.
“Lying in bed with a white sheet—that’s a cliché trick I saw in haunted houses ten years ago.”
The moment she finished speaking, the figure under the sheet suddenly sat up.
Guchuan Xing let out a short scream, stumbling back two steps and hitting the corridor wall again.
As the figure under the sheet sat up, it made a bone-grinding sound that set one’s teeth on edge.
Its entire upper body twisted around in a completely unnatural posture, facing the three of them.
The white sheet slid off its body, revealing a face wrapped in bandages.
“New…comers…?”
“Senior?”
Qin Huan turned her head to see Guchuan Xing squatting by the wall, hands gripping her own pant legs tightly.
Qin Huan suppressed the urge to laugh, turning back to face the thing on the bed.
In truth, she was a bit creeped out too.
The production level of this haunted house far exceeded her expectations.
If it weren’t for maintaining her image, she would have been screaming her head off already.
Ju Zhenli still stood in front of her, back straight as a rod, her golden side braid resting motionless on her shoulder.
“Sister Zhenli…”
“Don’t be scared, Xiao Huan.”
Ju Zhenli’s voice was a bit shaky, but she still maintained that elegant and composed tone.
“Stand behind me.”
Behind them, Guchuan Xing finally stood up from the wall, dusted off her pants, but still pressed tightly against the wall.
The thing slid off the bed with twisted movements, walking toward them.
Each step was accompanied by the crisp crack of bones.
The lights at the end of the corridor suddenly went out completely.
When the lights came back on, the thing was standing less than a meter away from Guchuan Xing.
“Ahhh!!!”
“Huanhuanhuanhuanzi! Howhowhowhow did it teleport! It’s cheating!”
“Senior, weren’t you just saying this was a cliché trick?”
“There’s really a ghost in this haunted house! I’m going to report it! Report it to the school! President Ju Zhenli, can you hear me! Don’t you student council handle this kind of thing?!”
Guchuan Xing was so agitated she forgot her fear, waving her arms wildly.
Ju Zhenli ignored her, her attention still fixed on the thing.
The thing stopped in front of Guchuan Xing, tilted its head with a crackling sound from its neck bones, then slowly lifted a bandage-wrapped hand toward Guchuan Xing’s face.
“Don’t come near!”
Guchuan Xing finally threw all dignity to the wind.
She dashed behind Qin Huan in a single bound, grabbing Qin Huan’s shoulders tightly and using her as a human shield.
She completely hid behind Qin Huan, peeking out with only one eye.
Qin Huan could feel Guchuan Xing’s body trembling slightly.
‘So the crazy big sister really is small fry.’
“Senior, you’re making this very awkward for me.”
“I’m your drummer! Drummers stay in the back! The bassist should be at the front!”
“What kind of twisted logic is that…”
At that moment, the thing turned around to face Qin Huan.
The eerie green light from its hollow eye sockets fell directly on Qin Huan’s face.
Seeing it up close made it even more chilling.
But Qin Huan just tilted her head and gave a smile.
“Stop.”
The thing froze for a moment; the green light flickered twice.
The thing finally dropped the act.
It straightened up, removed the bandages from its face with a perfectly normal human posture, revealing a pretty young girl’s face.
It pointed deeper into the corridor.
“Turn right up ahead, through the mortuary and the electrical room, and you’ll reach the exit.”
Qin Huan nodded and gave a sweet smile.
“Thank you. Great performance.”
Then she looked back at Guchuan Xing hiding behind her.
“Let’s go, Senior. The exit is just ahead.”
Guchuan Xing reluctantly came out from behind Qin Huan, her fingers still tightly gripping the hem of Qin Huan’s hoodie.
Ju Zhenli turned around now.
Her expression was still that composed and calm look.
Even though she herself was clearly scared, she still insisted on standing in front of her.
‘Was this the young lady’s domineering and unique love? Please, give her more of this!’
The three reached the end of the corridor.
Before them was an iron door marked [Emergency Exit] .
Qin Huan pushed the door open; the afternoon sunlight poured down from above, warming them all over.
Qin Huan nodded to the staff at the exit, showing a cute smile.
“Your haunted house is really well done. The Art Club’s set construction and the Drama Club’s sound design are very professional. Especially the actor in Ward No. 3—their acting was really amazing.”
As they left the haunted house, Guchuan Xing let go of Qin Huan’s hem and quickly returned to her usual lazy and wild demeanor.
She stuffed her hands in her pockets, her light red long curly hair flowing loose.
The playful smile returned to her lips.
“Hah, this haunted house is nothing special. Compared to the professional-grade ones I’ve experienced, it’s still far off.”
Qin Huan tilted her head, choosing not to comment.
[Target: Guchuan Xing]
[Identity: Instrumental Music Club President]
[Golden Finger Ability: Pleasure Manipulation (Development Level: 15%)]
[Affection Level toward You: 65 (She really liked your performance just now)]
[Obsession Degree toward You: 100 (She already sees you as her possession)]
[Evaluation: That female brat stirred up a strange desire to conquer. The Miao Heavenly Emperor doesn’t understand it but is deeply impressed.]
[Qin Huan, even though Guchuan Xing’s affection level increased, this time I really think there’s something wrong with you, meow.]
[People like Guchuan Xing are the type that the more they’re provoked, the more they want to conquer, meow. The way you acted in the haunted house, a normal person would think you’re brave and cool, but in Guchuan Xing’s eyes, she just thinks you’re a female brat in need of discipline, meow.]
“So she got stimulated by my performance just now?”
Qin Huan’s original intention was only to scare Guchuan Xing so that she would stop following them.
She really didn’t expect this unexpected gain.
[That’s how it is, meow.]
Qin Huan rolled her eyes internally.
‘Sure enough, you can’t use normal thinking to predict Guchuan Xing.’
‘Creatures like this flashy and repressed big sister, their thought processes are simply beyond normal understanding. The more you appear unhurried and dismissive of their various attacks, the more they want to pin you down on the bed and ravage you, watching you beg for mercy.’
