Walking to the warehouse door, Gadelia inserted the key and opened it.
Dust rushed toward them. Gadelia and Jiang Jialie covered their noses simultaneously. After the dust settled, they gently fanned the air in front of their noses.
“Cough, cough, cough. Gadelia, how long has it been since you were last here? So much dust.”
Jiang Jialie patted the dust off her clothes, her face full of disgust.
“If I came here every day, wouldn’t I be noticed?”
Gadelia, though also disgusted by the dust, still retorted to Jiang Jialie’s comment.
“Don’t just stand outside. Come in.”
Gadelia pressed a button. The filament-blackened incandescent bulb flickered a few times, then went out completely.
“I don’t understand why you have to store things here.”
Jiang Jialie raised her phone, turning on the flashlight to illuminate for Gadelia, while still couldn’t help complaining.
“With such a strong urge to complain, did you learn it from Zhou Ming, or did Zhou Ming learn it from you?”
“Of course we’re soulmates, so our personalities are the same.”
Jiang Jialie put her hands on her hips, lifted her head high, and looked down at Gadelia through her nostrils.
“Stupidity is contagious. You probably infected Zhou Ming.”
“I recall that Yucheng University doesn’t have very high requirements for Anzhou people, does it?”
Gadelia lightly tapped her lips with her finger, using a question to counter Jiang Jialie’s words.
“Besides, even at Yucheng University, the cut-off scores vary by major.”
“My major is the best one at Yucheng University!”
Hearing Gadelia bring up majors, Jiang Jialie was extremely proud.
Her academic credentials were not only from the best university in Yucheng, but she had also worked hard to get in!
“On the other hand, Gadelia, you never say what your education background is or which school you attended. It’s not some diploma mill, is it!”
With confidence, Jiang Jialie’s tone grew assertive.
“I don’t need an academic background to prove myself.”
Beside her, Jiang Jialie watched wide-eyed as Gadelia casually rolled a shell away.
Gadelia lifted the black plastic sheet, rummaged through the piled items, and tossed aside dust-covered cold weapons and blood-stained steel pipes.
“Ga…Gadelia, are all these things yours?”
“No. Even the thing I’m looking for isn’t mine. But you could say it’s mine.”
Illuminated by the light from Jiang Jialie’s phone, Gadelia searched while replying.
“Found it! It’s a few decades old, but it’s still usable.”
Holding up the briefcase in her hand, Gadelia made a clanging sound.
“Guizang Armament!”
“Special equipment developed by some organization. It can absorb digestible Guizang and combine it with special alloys to create combat weapons with abilities. Even ordinary people can use them.”
Equipment with abilities that ordinary people could use?
To Jiang Jialie now, it was like a divine weapon falling from heaven.
Opening the briefcase, the armament inside was revealed.
It was a writhing mass of silver-white metal.
“With the Guizang Armament, you can destroy all Energy Beast!”
“This… is too absurd.”
“Gadelia, this doesn’t suit you at all.”
Jiang Jialie held her forehead, but she still took in what Gadelia had said.
“After all, it’s a model from decades ago. It’s a miracle it even retained the beast’s consciousness.”
Gadelia nodded, agreeing with Jiang Jialie’s assessment.
“It has the beast’s consciousness?!”
Jiang Jialie squatted down and held her head.
“That’s terrifying. Can I not use it?”
“You can, but apart from this, I don’t have anything else to give you right now.”
“The latest version of the Guizang Armament has an identity recognition system installed. If it’s not newly produced, you can’t even use it, and new ones are hard to come by—rarely circulated.”
After exiting the warehouse, Gadelia placed the briefcase on the ground and locked the warehouse door.
“Use it or not, it’s up to you. I can only provide the option.”
Jiang Jialie thought of Zhou Ming. Clenching her teeth, she stood up, her gaze suddenly firm.
“How do I use it?”
“Just put your hand on it, think of any weapon in your mind, and it will transform according to your thoughts.”
Her hand pressed against the wriggling metal inside the briefcase. Jiang Jialie closed her eyes and visualized a sword in her mind.
The metal in her hand kept flowing, slowly deforming into a silver-white longsword according to Jiang Jialie’s imagination.
“The ability of these Guizang Armaments is uniformly enhanced strength. It can roughly double your physical power.”
Seeing Jiang Jialie open her eyes and swing the sword with both hands, Gadelia leisurely began explaining the attached ability.
“Amazing!”
Swinging the sword repeatedly, Jiang Jialie could almost see herself fighting alongside Zhou Ming.
“But the moment you let go, the ability it gives you will disappear. Also, anyone who gets it can use it, so you need to take good care of it.”
“Oh, and most importantly, you can only use it once a day, and each use cannot exceed thirty minutes. Otherwise, you might not be able to hold on.”
After swinging the sword until she was exhausted, Jiang Jialie sat on the ground before releasing her grip.
“Why only thirty minutes?!”
“This weapon is essentially a beast with a shared power-enhancing ability, but its bloodthirsty instinct has been suppressed. Prolonged high-frequency use might cause the beast to activate.”
Jiang Jialie quickly kicked backward, distancing herself from the silver-white weapon she had been so fond of, afraid that the bloodthirsty instinct inside it would activate and devour her.
“That’s terrifying!”
Jiang Jialie placed the weapon back into the briefcase. Gadelia picked it up and extended her hand to the resting Jiang Jialie on the ground.
“Let’s go.”
Taking Gadelia’s hand, Jiang Jialie pulled herself up, brushed the dust off her clothes, and sat first in the driver’s seat of the car.
Since her first time driving went smoothly without incident, Jiang Jialie was now feeling quite bold!
They returned the same way to Gadelia’s residence.
On the way, Jiang Jialie remembered that Zhou Ming had never mentioned having a Guizang Armament, so she asked Gadelia:
“Does Zhou Ming have this Guizang Armament?”
“No. This initial model provides almost no boost to an ability user. It’s completely a museum piece—rare but useless.”
Jiang Jialie’s lips trembled slightly. She wanted to speak but had nothing to say.
Gadelia’s storage location and attitude toward the initial model of the Guizang Armament proved that this armament was expendable to her—not important at all.
Then what did Gadelia rely on to protect herself?
Before Jiang Jialie could speak, Gadelia spoke first.
“Because of my personal physical condition, I can hardly use these things. So I actually have nothing to protect myself with.”
“Otherwise, I wouldn’t have needed Zhou Ming to save me back then.”
“Personal?”
“What about the other two people?”
“The staff at my milk tea shop. They’re at work. I’ve already repaid their debt of gratitude.”
“So that’s why I haven’t seen those two in so long!”
Jiang Jialie understood why Gadelia didn’t let those two staff members get close to Zhou Ming!
She wanted to monopolize Zhou Ming!
How infuriating!
Even robbing others of their gratitude to their savior.
“Do you…”
