Mia gave a cold snort. With a wave of her small hand, a staff appeared in her grip.
“I really don’t know where you two get your confidence from. Mere underlings like you actually dare speak to me this way.”
Although her specialty was teleportation magic, she had dabbled in essentially every other type of magic as well.
Even if the power she could unleash was not as strong as those mages who specialized in offensive magic, it was more than enough to deal with two Serkath demons.
The Serkath race was renowned in the Demon Realm for their fierce combat strength. From the moment of birth their power already far exceeded that of humans, and with only a little training later they could rival A-rank warriors.
Unfortunately, the Serkath race had an extremely fatal weakness: their perception of magic power was extremely poor, and they essentially had no defensive ability against magical damage.
They could indeed rely on their physical advantage to eliminate enemy mages before the latter could cast spells, but the moment they encountered a team with even decent coordination, they almost never had any chance of winning.
As it happened, their Duke’s Private Knight Order was precisely such a team.
“Declan, take them down!”
“Yes, Lady Mia!”
Declan drew the greatsword from his back. In a single flash he arrived in front of the two Serkath demons and raised his greatsword to slash straight down.
At the same time, Mia gripped her staff vertically with both hands and continuously chanted incantations. Magic power gradually surged within her body.
The two demons also noticed the situation on Mia’s side and immediately intended to eliminate Mia first.
Yet just as they prepared to act, Declan’s greatsword appeared before their eyes. They could only temporarily abandon the plan to attack Mia and barely dodge aside.
“Frost Horror Army Needles!”
The next second, Mia had already finished her chant. Under the effect of magic power, the moisture in the air instantly condensed into countless fine ice needles as thin as ox hair and flew toward the two demons.
Their hearts jumped in shock, and they erupted with their fastest speed in an attempt to dodge.
“Want to dodge? No chance!”
Declan immediately detected the two’s movements. He aimed the greatsword in his hand at one of them and threw it, directly disrupting that one’s evasion route.
In the moment of his hesitation, countless ice needles had already poured down, piercing into his skin in an instant. In the blink of an eye he turned into a hedgehog covered entirely in ice needles and directly breathed his last.
Seeing his companion die so miserably, the other one immediately fell into disarray, but quickly adjusted again.
Yet how could Declan give up this opportunity?
Taking advantage of the moment he had just regained his bearings, Declan slammed a fist into his lizard head.
However, for the thick-skinned Serkath race, Declan’s fist fundamentally could not cause any substantial damage.
But the problem was that Declan had directly disrupted his rhythm. He could only watch helplessly as the ice needles, like a sky full of falling snow, pierced through his body.
In less than a single minute, the outcome had already been decided.
“So… so amazing! Is this the elite of the Duke’s Private Knight Order?”
Atia was left completely stunned by the two’s performance.
In the wars between the Human Realm and the Demon Realm of past years, the Serkath race had always been the absolute vanguard of the Demon Realm’s army. If the Human Realm’s forward troops engaged them head-on, they almost never had any possibility of victory.
Even after the Human Realm’s army later discovered their weakness, the Serkath race still left a deep fear in the hearts of the Human Realm’s forces.
In Atia’s eyes, if humans faced the Serkath race alone, their chances of winning were almost zero.
Even if they won, it would be a pyrrhic victory.
Yet Mia and Declan had slain these two Serkath in less than a minute. It was simply unbelievable.
“Just average. Still needs practice.”
Eileen gave her own evaluation.
After all, she was a veteran player who had cleared the first playthrough. What kind of scenes had she not seen?
Mia and Declan’s coordination looked quite impressive, but it was merely the most basic team coordination in the game. There was nothing particularly outstanding about it.
If it were Kate instead, it would probably have been one slash each, not even needing ten seconds.
“Miss Eileen, this is still only average?”
Atia found it hard to believe.
Mia and Declan’s coordination was already something most teams would never achieve in a lifetime, yet Eileen said it still needed practice?
“Declan’s performance truly has nothing that can be criticized. As a warrior protecting the backline there is no problem at all. But Mia was a bit of a drag.”
Eileen analyzed, “Frost Horror Army Needles is indeed very powerful among mid-tier magic, but this skill is more suitable for situations when there are many enemies. Secondly, the chanting time of this magic is too long and the margin for error is too low. If Declan had failed to block those two demons, she would have been in danger.”
Atia listened in complete confusion.
Although she did not know what exactly Eileen’s words meant, they sounded very impressive.
“Eileen, you have such deep research into magic?”
Mia also overheard the two’s conversation and was drawn in by Eileen’s analysis.
She had to admit that Eileen’s analysis was quite professional.
It was not that she did not want to do better. She had simply felt that the opponents were just two underlings and had not taken them seriously.
“It’s alright.”
Eileen shrugged.
Although her levels and everything else were gone now, at least the theoretical knowledge remained.
“Then what magic do you say I should have used just now?”
“Low-tier magic would have been enough, like Water Blade or something.”
Eileen answered, “The Serkath race has almost no defensive ability against magic. Although low-tier magic is not enough to kill in a single hit, its advantage lies in short chanting time and high margin for error.”
“Hehe… As expected of the chief mage of the Duke’s Private Knight Order. Your strength truly cannot be underestimated.”
Lawson’s voice interrupted their conversation.
Mia looked toward him.
“Lawson, your people are already dead. Do you still intend to resist?”
“Resist? No no no. I never intended to resist at all… After all, only those who have been captured would speak of resistance, and I am not one of them.”
Awooo!
The moment the words fell, a wolf’s howl resounded through the night sky.
Everyone immediately became alert.
“This cry… is a Selene Wolf?!”
Lucen said in terror.
Selene Wolves were indeed B-rank magical beasts in the broad sense, yet once it reached a night of the full moon, their power would rise exponentially, sufficient to rival A-rank magical beasts.
Unfortunately, the moon tonight was very full…
“Lawson, is this your trump card?”
Mia’s willow-leaf eyebrows furrowed slightly. Eileen also gripped the Resonance Crystal that Kate had given her before they left.
Selene Wolves were renowned for their speed, yet Mia required time to activate teleportation magic.
If Declan failed to hold them back, she would truly have to call for reinforcements.
“Trump card? Superficial.”
Lawson shook his head, turned toward the direction of the wolf’s howl, and then devoutly knelt on the ground.
“Owen Lawson, respectfully welcomes Lord Black Demon!”
The next second, an enormous black silhouette flashed through the darkness and in an instant landed before everyone.
Moonlight poured down, illuminating this mass of black shadow.
It was a silver giant wolf fully two stories tall, and standing on its back was a human figure.
That was probably the Lord Black Demon of whom Lawson had spoken.
