“Blew up?”
Hearing Moya’s snarling threat as she retreated step by step, Aide could not help but laugh in exasperation.
“Who blew up with whom? Is there any chance that we’re already about to blow up with you?”
“Who tormented whom first? If you hadn’t run away overnight without a word, would things have turned out like this?”
To be fair, if Moya had been willing to discuss this with him in advance or had been willing to take him along when she ran, things would not have turned out like this.
Aide might even have kindly helped Moya deal with Cold Light a little longer so she would not have suffered so much grievance.
But Moya had insisted on deliberately choosing a route that offended everyone at once.
‘Was it because she was stupid?’
How could that be?
When he had joined her in subjugating the Dream Circus, Aide had already witnessed Moya’s abilities.
When it came to matters of principle, she was not a fool at all.
During their journey beneath the starry night sky, Aide had already thought about this question.
In the end, he still had no choice but to accept Cold Light’s earlier answer.
“Moya has always had a habit of running away. This includes relationships that are gradually becoming intimate.”
It was true that Moya had chosen to run because of Cold Light, but the fact that she had not even informed him before leaving spoke volumes.
As the two approached, Moya broke out in a cold sweat and retreated step by step, indirectly proving her guilt and lack of confidence.
However, her face still wore a stubborn, unyielding expression.
“So what? So what? So what? Who did I torment? I just moved house. Who did I offend? I didn’t violate anyone’s interests, did I?”
Hearing Moya’s stubborn response, the gazes of the two grew colder and more intimidating as they advanced toward her step by step.
Before she knew it, Moya had been backed into a corner with her back against the cold wall.
Her feathered ears trembled violently with tension as she looked at Cold Light on the left, who wore an expressionless face, and then at Aide on the right, who was smiling faintly.
Suddenly, she felt that the scene was somewhat familiar.
How was this situation any different from the time she had first met Aide and been cornered against a wall after trying to evade a debt by exploiting an inequality?
Except that back then, there had been only one person.
Now there were two.
“No, can’t you two be reasonable? If reasoning doesn’t work, you resort to violence, is that it?”
Aide and Cold Light still did not reply and continued closing in on Moya.
Seeing that her situation was becoming increasingly dangerous, Moya continued chattering away, but a smile born of desperation had already begun to appear on her face.
“Heh, can we make peace?”
With hollow eyes, Moya stared into the Void, helplessly drooling and unable to get back up.
Half an hour earlier, when she realized that the two would not stop until they had given her a beating, Moya had finally chickened out.
Being a cowardly lizard was better than suffering.
“I understand. Since you’re so unwilling, we’ll do things another way.”
Under Moya’s pitiful gaze, Cold Light remained unmoved.
She knew very well that beneath Moya’s aggrieved expression, Moya was most likely still secretly cursing the unfairness of fate and her own bad luck.
However, Aide seemed to have a sudden flash of inspiration and thought of a good idea.
“After all, we’re not demons.”
“Exactly, exactly. Sister Cold Light, we’re all angels. Why should angels make things difficult for other angels? Brother Aide, you’re a noble and virtuous Hero. Surely it’s not too much to forgive a brother who has repented, right?”
Seeing a glimmer of hope for survival, Moya’s eyes lit up.
She hurriedly echoed him, doing her best to avoid the punishment that was about to come.
“You’re right, but forgiveness must always come after punishment.”
Under Moya’s hopeful gaze, Aide grabbed her with one hand.
“Ouch, what are you doing?”
Moya had thought there was still hope, but when she realized that Aide had no intention of giving up, her pitiful expression instantly turned fierce as she bared her claws.
“Don’t think that just because there are two of you, you can do whatever you want! I’m warning you, even if I’m no match for the two of you, don’t think you can run wild! You can beat me, but can you fly faster than me?”
“Silver-tongued as ever. Don’t think that pretending to be the victim will let you muddle the truth. You’re the one who dodged your debt, and you’re also the one who refused the Church’s supervision. So we’ll live in your house. If you have the ability, then don’t return to this mansion for the rest of your life.”
Hearing Aide’s rebuttal, Moya was instantly rendered speechless after he had seized upon her fatal weakness.
“Miss Cold Light, I’ll hold Moya down. You handle tickling her soles.”
Aide stopped wasting words and pinned Moya against the corner.
“Understood.”
Cold Light nodded, plucked a feather from her own wings, and moved it toward Moya’s plump thighs, which were covered in white stockings.
“Hey, hey, hey, you’re joking, right?”
Moya widened her eyes and stared at the two in disbelief.
Her body, pinned down by Aide, froze for a moment before she began struggling wildly.
“Let me go! Despicable! Shameless! Lowlife! You’re supposed to be a Hero, so how can you stoop to such dirty tricks? Cold Light, you’re an elite disciplinary angel of the Church! How can you help an outsider do something so wicked to a colleague?”
“Getting angry, are we?”
Hearing Moya’s furious questioning, Aide could not help but feel amused.
“Moya, I believe Mr. Aide’s punishment is quite necessary and meaningful this time. You have indeed been far too unruly recently. As for your objection, my answer is that you cannot remember you’re an angel of the Church only when you’re the one suffering. Your actions have seriously deviated from the Lord’s teachings and the Church’s orders, severely tarnishing the image of both the angel race and the Church.”
Unlike Aide, Cold Light refuted Moya’s unreasonable complaints point by point.
“Bullshit! How is that the same…”
Moya had intended to stubbornly argue a little longer, but the feather in Cold Light’s hand had already lightly touched the sole of her foot.
“Stop, stop!”
Moya’s body instantly tensed before she began twisting violently, the feathered ears on her head flapping and trembling wildly.
“I was wrong, I was wrong! I really know I was wrong! Stop!”
Seeing Moya laughing uncontrollably beneath him, Aide could not help but curl his lips into a faint smile.
“Only now do you regret it? Too late. Take this!”
When Cold Light finally stopped, Moya had completely slumped into the corner, gasping for breath.
Her white stockings were soaked with sweat and clung to her slightly reddened calves.
Her golden hair was messily stuck to her cheeks, and tears from laughing still lingered at the corners of her eyes.
Having expended so much energy during the recent ordeal, Moya no longer had the strength to curse Aide and Cold Light.
Aide gently embraced her and placed her on the sofa.
At Aide’s gentle actions, Moya weakly glared at him.
Her lips moved several times, but she could not utter a word.
“Regarding your escape and refusal to accept the Church’s supervision, I have already reported everything to the Church.”
Cold Light’s tone was as cold as ever.
“After a while, the Church should issue a new punishment notice for you. If nothing unexpected happens, Her Holiness the Pope should deduct half of your salary this month as punishment.”
Hearing Cold Light’s merciless announcement, Moya felt her vision go black.
The sky had collapsed once again.
Could she ever live a normal life?
“Wait, about this new punishment, is there no room for negotiation?”
However, what Moya had not expected was that before she could protest, Aide took the initiative and spoke first.
