“What?”
“I said there’s no need.”
She didn’t elaborate further, her narrow eyes casually scanning the surroundings.
“Hmph, aren’t you arrogant. Oh, it’s the Saint herself? Looks like we caught a big fish this time.”
The shrill shouts echoed through the cave, but Vylian didn’t even lift her eyelids, clearly not intending to respond to such boring provocation.
She slowly raised the Holy Maiden Staff in her hand, her fingertips pausing lightly.
The staff vibrated slightly, and a faint ripple spread across the ground. A ball of pure white light slowly emerged from the staff’s tip, floating in midair.
Initially, whether Temple Knights, Battle Nuns, or those black-robed figures, they all looked disdainful when they saw the light ball.
It was small, its magical power fluctuation so faint it was almost negligible. Such an unremarkable piece of magic was laughable.
But the next second, smiles froze on everyone’s faces.
That seemingly weak light ball suddenly erupted at incredible speed, too fast for the naked eye to catch!
With a soft “pfft,” it pierced straight through the chest of a black-robed figure in the front row.
Blood splattered, and the man was snapped in half, his abdomen area blasted away without even leaving a trace.
Their self-healing abilities, which they prided themselves on, were instantly nullified as their lives were taken.
“What is this thing! Defend! Quick, build a defense!”
The black-robed figures panicked completely, their arrogance replaced by extreme fear as they shouted frantically, falling into chaos.
But it was all too late.
Within just a few breaths, more than half of the surrounding black-robed figures had already fallen inexplicably.
Some hadn’t even realized what happened before their bodies were torn apart by that eerie, invisible light ball.
Piercing screams rose and fell, then quickly faded.
One desperate figure tried to survive, tremblingly shouting, “God! I offer the organs of all believers to exchange for your power…”
But before he finished, the light ball pierced his throat, freezing his prayer forever in his throat.
Vylian didn’t bother to watch. Killing them was as easy as crushing an ant.
The so-called fear of killing for the first time didn’t exist.
After all, having inherited the knowledge of the [Corrupt Monarch] and being a member of the [Corrupted Disaster], she was already numb to life-or-death killings like this.
“Th-three seconds.”
A Temple Knight trembled slightly, his voice hoarse as he spat out two words, disbelief in his eyes.
Only three seconds.
No complicated magic incantations, no flashy moves to set it up. The Saint simply vibrated the Holy Maiden Staff lightly and released an unremarkable spell, annihilating all the heretics.
The Saint was far too powerful!
They had just been putting on a heroic act of sacrificing themselves, but now it felt somewhat awkward.
After a brief stunned silence came extreme fervor.
“The Saint’s strength is unfathomable! With the Saint here, these heretics are just lambs to the slaughter!”
“Yes! With the Saint presiding, these heretics can only surrender meekly, without any power to resist!”
Vylian wasn’t particularly moved by the excitement around her.
“Continue forward.”
Everyone immediately composed themselves, respectfully acknowledged, and followed closely behind, the earlier gravity mostly dissipated.
The Captain of the Temple Knights, walking at the front, finally couldn’t contain his curiosity.
“Your Highness, what magic did you just cast? Its power was astonishing.”
“Just an ordinary Holy Light Bullet.”
Light Bullet Magic, without the “Holy” prefix, was the most basic light-attribute spell, a simple magic that condensed light into a ball and threw it.
Basically, anyone who had studied magic could cast it.
After all, with Level Suppression in play, she didn’t need to use any flashy magic to swat a fly.
Not that forbidden spells or large-scale magic weren’t cool.
The group continued forward. Before long, another group of black-robed figures appeared ahead.
Unlike the previous group, these people looked composed, their bodies exuding a dense aura of divinity. They had clearly prepared thoroughly during the interval, with the faint scent of Divine Grant Power lingering.
“Heh, you damned Holy Order followers really spare no expense, even sending the Saint here! Too bad, we’ve already received the blessing of the Life God. Today, you’re destined to fall here!”
Everyone’s hearts sank, tension instantly rising.
They could clearly sense that the strength of these black-robed figures was on a completely different level from the previous group.
They might barely be able to fight the previous batch, but these people in front likely required the Archbishop himself to suppress them.
“Damn it, how can these heretics be so strong? How many lives did they sacrifice to gain such Divine Grant Power?”
“Your Highness, do you have a chance of defeating them?”
If the Saint had no hope of winning, they would use their own lives to escort her away.
Vylian didn’t answer.
She gently shook the Holy Maiden Staff in her hand.
Something flew out from the staff, barely visible to the naked eye, and immediately, several corpses appeared on the ground.
Those black-robed figures who had been so arrogant just moments before couldn’t even scream before they were beheaded.
“Truly worthy of the Saint! We were really worrying for nothing!”
The Temple Knights and Battle Nuns exclaimed again, their awe deepening.
The sole surviving black-robed figure knelt on the ground.
His back was drenched in cold sweat, his face pale as paper. Fear flooded his entire body like a tidal wave, shaking his soul.
“Damn it! You! How can you be so strong?!”
Vylian had deliberately left one alive to extract information.
She didn’t want to waste time on these small fry. They couldn’t even withstand a single blow from her, so there was no desire to fight.
Better to finish quickly.
“Where is your leader?”
“Our leader… our leader is…”
The black-robed figure stammered, then a strange, manic smile suddenly appeared on his face.
At that moment!
A shadow suddenly emerged from the darkness deep in the cave. A man holding a sword, surrounded by sharp wind, ignored all the Temple Knights and Battle Nuns, and shot like an arrow straight for Vylian’s throat!
“Hahaha! Die! As long as the Saint of the Holy Order dies here, even if all of us sacrifice, it will be worth it!”
It was common knowledge that mages had weak defenses.
Those who spent all day studying magic and meditating to replenish magic power had far inferior physical fitness compared to warriors.
Once they were closed in on, it was almost certain death.
Especially for a Saint who looked so soft and delicate like the one in front of them. Despite her powerful magic, if she were stabbed by a sword, it would definitely be a fatal blow to the throat.
The black-robed figure seemed to see the scene of the Saint’s head being cut off, his eyes wild with excitement.
But Vylian remained calm, not even showing any intention of dodging.
She simply raised her hand slowly, positioning it exactly in the path of the sword.
A faint, glowing white light flickered at her fingertip. With just one finger—or maybe just her fingernail—she steadily blocked the sharp blade.
No matter how hard the man struggled, he couldn’t advance half a step.
The violent collision of forces created a terrifying wind pressure, and even the Battle Nuns guarding Vylian were blown away, crashing heavily to the ground.
But Vylian herself stood motionless.
The black-robed figure’s eyes widened.
“Th-this is impossible! What kind of Magic Barrier is this? Why can’t my sword pierce it? This sword has the Divine Grant Power of magic destruction!”
Magic Barrier, indeed.
Vylian was simply relying on her physical strength to withstand the blow.
The faint glow was just a disguise to avoid appearing too absurd.
If Vylian had actually used a Magic Barrier, the opponent would have been blasted into a mist of blood the moment he approached.
Only then did the Temple Knights and Battle Nuns realize that someone had silently approached the Saint!
And even completed an assassination attempt!
Everything happened too fast, less than a second from start to finish!
Yet the Saint effortlessly blocked this fatal blow.
The Captain of the Temple Knights stood frozen, dumbfounded.
“This is the strength of the Saint… Just how powerful is she?”
