Chapter 5: Carrot? Awesome!

Bai Ziyu turned her head.

In the living room, Luo Yunzhi had placed a full-length mirror. 

She could see her own reflection in it. 

Her eyes couldn’t help blinking again and again.

Before, she had only secretly tried transforming into a human. 

But since she was still in the alley at the time, she had kept it brief—she couldn’t let anyone discover her secret.

And what she actually looked like.

She didn’t even know herself.

“I’m actually pretty cute~” Bai Ziyu leaned closer to the full-length mirror.

She stared at herself in the mirror and spaced out for a few seconds.

She raised her hand to touch the top of her head.

“Ears?”

Even after turning human, the cat ears were still there. 

They just seemed to serve no real purpose anymore. 

They were simply a beautiful decoration.

Bai Ziyu gently touched them. 

They were fluffy, and the cat ears subconsciously twitched a couple of times. 

She couldn’t hear any sounds, but the sensation was still there.

She pulled the bedsheet back a bit from her body. 

The cat tail behind her swayed lazily back and forth, looking very relaxed and showing that the owner was in a pretty good mood right now.

Bai Ziyu smiled.

“Gotta say, I’m really cute.” 

The young girl stuck out her little tongue secretly, not feeling embarrassed at all.

In fact, she was quite enjoying the praise.

But hearing the sound of water from the bathroom, Bai Ziyu temporarily gave up on exploring her body any further. 

Instead, she ran back to the sofa to get ready.

She reached out and picked up the phone.

She lit up the screen.

The phone naturally belonged to Luo Yunzhi. 

Bai Ziyu had secretly observed the password earlier, and of course Luo Yunzhi wouldn’t be on guard against a mere cat.

The screen unlocked smoothly. 

Her slender fingers first typed two characters into the search engine—”yokai”—then began searching.

Results quickly appeared. 

Bai Ziyu swiftly scrolled the screen, occasionally clicking into a post before quickly exiting and continuing to swipe through.

Then she soon gave up.

“Hmm, nothing?”

It was about what she had expected. 

There were no descriptions of yokai creatures online at all. 

Even if there were any, they had long been proven to be fabrications.

So if nothing went wrong, she was probably the only “yokai” in this world. 

To be honest, that feeling wasn’t exactly wonderful.

“Looks like I don’t have any kin.” 

Bai Ziyu sat on the sofa, swinging her legs back and forth. 

“Looks like I need to be even more careful in daily life.”

Being rare meant danger. 

She wasn’t a child, so she naturally understood this. 

Therefore, she absolutely could not reveal her secret in front of outsiders.

Bai Ziyu sighed.

A wave of inexplicable melancholy.

But this melancholy didn’t last long. Holding onto the “when in Rome, do as the Romans do” mindset, she exited the search engine and instead opened the video app.

Bai Ziyu wasn’t looking to scroll videos for fun. 

She was thinking about how ordinary people made money, and of course the internet was the way. She was searching for inspiration.

Luck favored her.

“Hmm? Eh?” 

She let out a light sound of surprise. 

Bai Ziyu scrolled back to the video she had just passed, staring at the content and pondering.

The scene in the video was simple—just an ordinary family room. 

From the shooting angle, a calico cat was sitting on the floor.

The little cat was wearing cute clothes. 

At the same time, there were items placed nearby, and the owner’s voice off-screen was guiding the cat to choose objects.

The video audio came in fragments.

“Carrot.”

“Carrot.”

“Awesome!”

After drying the water from her body and putting on her pajamas, Luo Yunzhi looked at herself in the mirror and slapped her cheeks hard a couple of times.

She let out a light breath, pulling herself out of the day’s busyness and exhaustion. She opened the bathroom door, and a cloud of warm steam rushed out.

Luo Yunzhi blinked.

She glanced sideways.

The black cat was still curled up on the sofa pillow, breathing evenly, her little body rising and falling. Occasionally those ears would twitch again.

The cat seemed to have woken up earlier, because her bedsheet was now bunched up at the edge, almost rolled into a ball and looking strangely messy.

“Little White sure loves to play.” Luo Yunzhi approached the sofa. She simply looked at the black cat and smiled gently, showing no sign of anger.

She reached out and stroked the black cat’s fur. It felt soft and comfortable, and the warm body heat chased away a chill that hadn’t even been there.

Luo Yunzhi picked up the bedsheet.

Then she suddenly froze.

The young girl brought the bedsheet close and couldn’t help sniffing it a couple of times. “A sweet scent?” 

She tried again to confirm she wasn’t imagining it.

There was a sweet, rich fragrance on the bedsheet. 

Luo Yunzhi couldn’t identify what kind of scent it was, but instinctively her throat bobbed a few times.

The smell clearly wasn’t food.

Yet she really wanted to eat it.

After a brief hesitation, the young girl leaned close to the black cat and sniffed her for a long time as well, but she didn’t detect the same sweet scent.

She even inhaled some cat fur.

And sneezed.

“Achoo! That’s really strange.” 

Luo Yunzhi shook her head in mild helplessness, carried the bedsheet to the bathroom, and tossed it straight into the washing machine.

Her daily life was tiring enough. 

She wasn’t in the mood to play detective. 

If she couldn’t figure it out for now, she would just set it aside for later.

With that laid-back attitude, Luo Yunzhi changed the bedsheet on the sofa. Then she flopped her whole body onto the soft cushions.

She turned onto her side.

Her head resting right against the cat.

“Time to rest.”

The young girl lazily narrowed her eyes and picked up the phone she had been using for years. Watching videos was one of her few forms of entertainment.

But this time it was different. When she lit up the screen, it wasn’t the usual wallpaper. 

The video app was already open and playing a video.

Luo Yunzhi didn’t think much of it, assuming she had simply forgotten to close the app earlier. 

She started watching the video with interest.

The room was quiet.

Only the video played.

On the phone screen was a calico cat. 

Following the owner’s guiding tone, the calico cat moved left and right, using its paw to point at things nearby.

“Carrot?”

“Awesome!”

“Tissue?”

“Awesome!”

Every time the cat pointed correctly, the owner would give the calico cat a treat. 

If it pointed wrong, the command would be repeated.

Although the content wasn’t particularly exciting, it somehow drew people’s attention. 

Watching the cat twist and turn until it finally earned its food through effort.

Luo Yunzhi scrolled down.

The video had great traffic. 

Every clip had at least a hundred thousand likes. 

She couldn’t help holding her breath, feeling a twinge of envy.

If she could turn this kind of traffic into money, her current poor life would improve quickly. 

But could she really do it?

She had tissues.

She had carrots.

And now… she had a cat.

Luo Yunzhi couldn’t help looking up at the black cat. 

The other party was sleeping peacefully, completely unresponsive to the outside world.

“Should I give it a try?”

She murmured softly.

“If Little White likes it.”
