Chapter 50: The Final Step

Xin yanked the chain blade down from the ceiling.

She dropped the rubber bullet in her hand and stared at Ska with a serious expression.

‘This guy is weird,’ Xin thought.

‘He could have killed anyone here from the shadows, but he didn’t. If he really meant to stop us, he should have shot all the executives the moment we entered the meeting room. But now, he’s just standing there leisurely, even taking the time to wipe his sniper rifle, as if none of us exist.’

Noah looked for cover while pulling out the Magician Card to summon a light orb again.

Ska immediately noticed her move.

He raised his gun and aimed.

The powerful impact of the sniper rifle sent Noah flying.

After firing that shot, Ska rolled backward and dodged the chain blade Xin threw at him.

As he reloaded, he said to Noah,

“Don’t move, beautiful. That thing of yours is too hard on the eyes. I don’t want to wear sunglasses in such a dark place.”

Naya quickly shielded Noah and said in a worried tone,

“Are you okay, darling? How bad are your injuries?”

Noah felt like a hammer had slammed into her chest.

She coughed lightly.

“I’m fine. He used rubber bullets. I don’t know why he didn’t kill me, but everyone be careful!”

“You’re finished, punk…”

Xin said, pulling back her chain blade and reforging it into a katana.

Her face darkened.

“If you had actually killed her, I would have torn you apart!”

‘If he really killed me, I’d just respawn…’

Though she was touched, Noah couldn’t help snarking internally.

“Oh, I’m so scared,” Ska said while backing away and shooting at Xin.

“Did I offend your little mascot?”

After dodging another sniper round, Xin noticed Ska’s weakness.

Although a sniper rifle had immense destructive power, reloading and aiming took a lot of time.

Xin lowered her body, pushed off her feet, and charged at Ska like a cheetah.

The explosive acceleration startled Ska.

It was too late to aim again.

He sidestepped the slash and immediately rolled backward.

Ska tore off a piece of railing from the side, channeled his divine power to summon a ball of flame.

The massive fire melted the iron railing, which quickly solidified and reshaped into an automatic pistol.

Ska immediately raised the gun and aimed.

The bullet flew straight toward Xin.

With a clang, Xin’s katana sliced the incoming bullet in half.

Then the second, the third.

The dazzling blade light closed in on Ska.

Sweating profusely, he quickly dropped the pistol and pulled a flashbang from his trench coat.

Biting off the pin with his teeth, he threw it at Xin.

Realizing what it was, Xin immediately ducked and lay flat on the ground.

A blinding white light flashed through the meeting room.

Ska’s figure vanished from where he stood.

Xin looked up and found Ska had disappeared.

She quickly stood up, grabbed the railing, and shouted to Noah,

“Beautiful! He’s probably targeting you! Be careful!”

“I know!”

Noah immediately responded.

She reached out and drew the Moon Card, intending to use the Moon’s insight to locate Ska.

Before she could sense anything, someone behind her grabbed the card and snatched it away.

Ska had already come up behind Noah.

As he quickly moved away from her, he said with a grin,

“Beautiful, can you give this to me? I’ll add you as a friend~”

“Dammit! Don’t run!”

Seeing Ska take Noah’s Tarot card, Naya immediately raised his cane.

He struck the ground heavily, unleashing the power of Chaos to envelop the meeting room.

“Dance wildly—sing for Chaos!”

All the tables, chairs, and debris in the meeting room floated up.

They crashed into each other like headless flies, immediately blocking Ska’s escape route completely.

Xin jumped down from the second floor.

Brandishing her katana, she cut through the obstacles and swung at Ska.

Relying on his swift footwork, Ska dodged left and right among the debris and blade light, not letting a single cut touch his clothes.

Although he seemed to handle it with ease, Ska knew he couldn’t last long.

Gripping his sniper rifle in one hand, he pulled a grenade from his trench coat with the other.

He bit off the pin and threw it hard at Xin.

“Take this! Fragmentation grenade!”

Xin was startled.

That thing was no joke.

She quickly jumped back to avoid being riddled with shrapnel.

But the “grenade” only burst into a thick cloud of smoke when it hit the ground.

Coughing, Xin heard Ska’s voice growing farther away.

“Haha, tricked you! It’s just a smoke grenade!”

Xin fanned away the smoke around her and looked at the back door of the meeting room.

It was wide open—it seemed Ska had already left through there.

She looked at her palm and asked the others in a doubtful tone,

“Did you see that? That flame…”

Xin looked at Naya.

“And the ability to create guns out of thin air? What was that?”

“It’s the Flame Divine Power, the Authority of Forging,” Naya said, stroking his cane and frowning deeply.

“This is bad…”

“Hah, what’s there to fear?”

Xin said dismissively.

“I can forge weapons too. I’m not scared of him.”

“That’s not what I mean…”

Naya glanced at Noah, who was reshuffling the cards, and explained helplessly.

“Don’t you remember? Keerman once said that only the Star Divine Power is missing. That guy took the Star-blessed Tarot card. He’s probably going to hand it over to Gexiusi so he can complete the final step of ascension to godhood…”

After explaining, Naya frowned in distress.

“This is bad. We need to stop him quickly!”

“Was he not killing us all along just to find a chance to take the Star Divine Power?”

Xin looked at Noah.

“Beautiful, that card is yours. Can you call it back?”

Noah shuffled the cards again and drew the Moon.

She sighed softly.

“The Moon card is in my hand—I just redrew it with Star Divine Power. The card he took can’t be recovered.”

Everyone immediately realized the severity of the situation and hurriedly set off for Zone D.

After climbing over the debris in the meeting room, they pushed open the final door.

There was no plan, no need for surprise or assassination—because Gexiusi had prepared everything and would not give the Primordial Organization any chance to ambush.

Once they entered Zone D, harsh lights immediately blinded the group.

After their eyes adjusted to the spotlights, Noah looked up at the center of the area.

A man dressed like a scholar stood there, appearing to be around thirty years old.

He was hunched over, with dark circles so big he looked like a panda.

He seemed as if he hadn’t slept for days—utterly haggard.

About a dozen members of the New Truth Organization knelt around him, chanting some incomprehensible gibberish.

When he saw the group enter through Zone D’s gate, the man raised his head and smiled lightly.

“Welcome to New Truth, everyone.”

He paused, then declared again,

“You will witness the moment of Truth’s ascension to godhood!”
