“Are you really that petty?”
Su Shuhao sighed as she watched her younger sister guard the apple so fiercely.
“It’s just an apple. I don’t mind that you’ve already taken a bite.”
“I do.”
Su Wan’er’s face flushed slightly as she pretended the apple was hers, taking small bites.
Of course, it wasn’t because she was after Gu Bai’s good looks.
If she left the apple untouched, her sister might get suspicious.
So Su Wan’er decided it was her duty to finish it off.
“I’m not going to fight you over it.”
Su Shuhao set her bag on the sofa, then caught a faint whiff of alcohol.
She asked, “Wan’er, have you been drinking?”
“Ah… just a little.”
Su Wan’er didn’t hide the fact that she’d had some alcohol. She explained calmly, “I wanted to test my tolerance and see how much I can handle.”
“Oh, that,” Su Shuhao said, as if remembering something.
“Actually, that’s a good idea. So, what’s your limit?”
“One glass.”
“…”
Su Shuhao fell silent for a moment upon hearing Su Wan’er’s answer, then couldn’t help but say, “Weak. When I was your age, I could drink… five glasses.”
Seeing Su Shuhao boast, Su Wan’er didn’t feel like exposing the truth.
She just nodded repeatedly.
“Big sister is amazing. But why did you come home?”
“Well…”
Su Shuhao thought for a moment, then sighed.
“I can’t seem to study effectively.”
As mentioned before, Su Shuhao was preparing for graduate school and had been trying hard to study and make progress.
But for some reason, ever since Gu Bai wasn’t around anymore, she couldn’t understand a thing.
It wasn’t that she couldn’t focus—she simply couldn’t grasp the material.
Gu Bai used to tutor her, but after they separated, she had to rely on herself.
“Ah… so what will you do about the exam?”
Su Wan’er asked worriedly. “If you don’t pass, you’ll have to wait a whole year.”
Su Shuhao replied firmly, “No, I will pass.”
She refused to admit defeat or that she couldn’t manage without Gu Bai.
Su Shuhao had to prove to herself that she could do well even without him by her side.
As she’d said before, she would make Gu Bai regret it—not herself.
“Graduate school is a big deal,” Su Wan’er said, concerned.
“Maybe you should ask Gu Bai for help. You said he’s really good at studying.”
“That’s out of the question.”
Su Shuhao shook her head, then turned her gaze to Su Wan’er.
“By the way, why are you wearing my clothes?”
“Uh… well…”
Su Wan’er thought on her feet.
“This outfit is really pretty, so I wanted to try it on.”
“I bought that for Gu Bai… Ah, forget it, go ahead and wear it.”
Su Shuhao started to say something but held back.
She couldn’t very well admit that she still cared about others wearing clothes Gu Bai had given her.
“But I have to admit, your taste in clothes has improved a lot. This combination really looks good.”
Su Shuhao looked at Su Wan’er and praised her.
“Not bad. You look a lot like me now. Later, you can help me get Gu Bai to teach me again.”
“Uh… ahaha…”
Su Wan’er laughed awkwardly.
She couldn’t exactly confess that she’d just been flirting with Gu Bai.
“I’m going to take a shower first. When you’re done with my clothes, remember to wash them and put them back in my wardrobe.”
With that, Su Shuhao left the living room and entered the bathroom.
Seeing her sister go into the bathroom, Su Wan’er knew this was the perfect chance.
She hurried back to Su Shuhao’s bedroom.
As soon as she entered, she anxiously said to Gu Bai, who was hiding under the bed, “My sister is taking a shower. Hurry and come out.”
“Alright.”
Gu Bai poked his head out from under the bed, then looked up.
Su Wan’er was squatting in front of him, and the direction he was facing was right up her skirt.
What appeared in his view was a very eye-catching, adorable white silk panty.
Faced with this situation, Gu Bai fell silent.
Su Wan’er also realized what was happening and went quiet too.
Not a word was exchanged, but Su Wan’er’s face turned red and steamed.
She let out a gasp and quickly pressed her skirt down, blocking the maiden’s absolute territory.
“Pervert!”
But from that angle, even with her pressing down on the skirt, Gu Bai could still vaguely see something.
So Gu Bai could only try to look away.
But honestly, Gu Bai was a normal man.
His gaze just wouldn’t move.
After an awkward silence, Su Wan’er was about to say something when she heard the doorknob turning from outside the bedroom.
Panicking, she shoved Gu Bai’s head back. “My sister is coming in!”
But Gu Bai’s body was heavy, and it happened so suddenly that he didn’t have time to retreat.
Seeing the door about to open, Su Wan’er didn’t think twice.
In her haste, she pushed Gu Bai back under the bed using her own body.
The price was that the already cramped space under the bed now held two people squeezed together.
“Strange…”
Since Gu Bai’s entire view was blocked by Su Wan’er, he couldn’t see what was happening outside.
The only thing he could see was Su Wan’er’s warm, soft body…
And her little face, red as an apple.
Her eyes had already turned into spiral circles, continuously letting off steam.
Gu Bai lowered his voice and asked the girl in front of him, “Are you okay, being this close?”
From Gu Bai’s perspective, Su Wan’er’s trembling body and uneasy expression were probably a result of her heterophobia acting up.
So he pressed his back against the wall, trying to put as much distance as possible between them so she wouldn’t have a stress reaction.
But Su Wan’er, whose brain was already overloaded, couldn’t respond.
She had completely stopped thinking.
After all, being this close to a teenage boy—given Su Wan’er’s personality, it was impressive she hadn’t fainted.
Still, she couldn’t say a word. Dazed, she lay sideways facing Gu Bai.
This state lasted for who knows how long before Su Shuhao finally left the bedroom.
After confirming that the footsteps had faded and the door was closed again, Gu Bai said to the girl in front of him, “Your sister is gone.”
