Description

Guild.

This organization, where hunters gathered, had risen to become the most powerful group in South Korea.

It was only natural.

Just being an armed group was impressive enough, but they also earned enormous amounts of money from clearing gates.

Thanks to that, guilds boasted more wealth and power than most large corporations, and thus, guilds became increasingly powerful entities.

Naturally, competition arose between guilds.

They constantly fought and waged wars to become stronger guilds, to have more money and greater power, competing every single day.

And there was a guild that stood at the pinnacle of such competition.

「Myth Guild」.

This guild, with its dazzling name, climbed to the top after competing with countless guilds aiming for the summit of South Korea.

Koreans, who love rankings, often talked about the top 3 guilds or top 5 guilds, but everyone unanimously picked ‘Myth Guild’ as the overwhelming ’emperor’.

Their financial power, influence, and even the military might of the hunters belonging to Myth Guild were on a completely different level from other guilds.

And there was a person who founded this immensely powerful Myth Guild and rose to the top solely through skill.

His name was ‘Shin Daeho’.

A man well over 50 years old, yet possessing the demeanor of a tiger.

Centered around that man, a meeting was in progress in the Myth Guild conference room.

“Then let’s start with the report from the Diamond Raid Team.”

In Myth Guild, ranks were divided based on skill.

Diamond Raid Team.

Gold Raid Team.

Silver Raid Team.

Bronze Raid Team.

And the captains of these raid teams began their reports under Shin Daeho’s instructions.

“I will report on this week’s performance of the Diamond Raid Team. This time, the Diamond Raid Team…”

The Diamond Raid Team captain reported in a heavy atmosphere.

Under the ferocious, tiger-like gaze of Shin Daeho, the raid team captains spoke in turn.

After the presentations about the gates they had raided this week, their achievements, and casualties were finished.

Shin Daeho opened his mouth.

“Good. Everyone worked hard. By the way, it seems we’re short on new hunters lately.”

Shin Daeho continued speaking while scanning the list of new hunters who had joined this time.

“Of course, there are many strong ones. But I don’t see any shining ones. Hunters who shine brightly like stars and will become the future of our Myth Guild.”

Shin Daeho asked the raid team captains and administrative executives if there were any decent new hunters.

But everyone stayed silent like mutes who had eaten honey, unable to give any answer.

At that moment, the vice guild master sitting beside him spoke up.

“Guild Master.”

“Speak, Vice Guild Master.”

“What do you think about the hunter who cleared the recent Red Gate incident?”

“The Red Gate incident? Ah, yes, there was something like that.”

Shin Daeho nodded as if he remembered.

Recently, there had been quite surprising news in the hunter world.

A phenomenon where a normally blue gate turned blood-red, and the monsters inside became drastically stronger.

The so-called ‘Red Gate’ incident.

Shin Daeho, who knew about it, said.

“Yes, there was a guy who did a news interview after clearing the Red Gate.”

“That’s correct. What do you think about him? Our Myth Guild is already reviewing him, but I was wondering about your opinion, Guild Master.”

“Hmm, the monster he caught was a Poison Goblin, right?”

“Yes. It was originally a Goblin Gate, but it mutated into Poison Goblins.”

“I see.”

Shin Daeho nodded.

If he entered to hunt the lowest-grade monsters, he must be a low-level hunter.

Yet if he effortlessly took down mid-grade monsters like Poison Goblins, he was undoubtedly an attractive hunter.

Not just a strong hunter, but one who shone brightly like a star.

Shin Daeho opened his mouth.

“Good. Then let’s bring that guy into our Myth Guild as well. That level of skill is more than enough to join our Myth Guild.”

“Understood, Guild Master. We will push forward with recruitment as soon as the review is complete.”

“Yes, do that. Ah, by the way, what was that guy’s name again?”

Shin Daeho asked the vice guild master.

The vice guild master immediately answered.

“It’s Seo Juwon. His class is Necromancer.”

These days, my phone was on fire.

The reason was simple.

My face had been broadcast on TV because of the Red Gate clear, and as a result, texts and calls came in every day.

Even during the hunter qualification exam, I had received many contacts from guilds because I killed an Orc, but after appearing on TV, my phone battery drained in no time.

Well, that didn’t mean I felt bad about it.

In fact, for someone like me who only received calls about bill payments, contacts from various media outlets and guilds were a joyful thing.

I still had no idea how they found my number.

Anyway, even in the midst of such incessant contacts every day, I continued my daily life with Eunbyeol.

“Ah! Daddy, that one! Eunbyeol wants to eat that!”

It was the weekend, so the mart was bustling.

Eunbyeol, riding in the cart, pointed at something and shouted.

“Ah, crab? You want to eat crab?”

“Yeah yeah! Want to eat crab! Saw it on TV and it looked super yummy!”

“Really? Got it. Since our Eunbyeol wants to eat it, of course Daddy has to buy it.”

I smiled and put the packaged crab into the cart.

In truth, crab was an ingredient I could only dream of normally.

Crab was insanely expensive.

I made a decent amount from the Red Gate.

Nevertheless, the reason I put the expensive crab in the cart without hesitation was simple.

The Red Gate where Poison Goblins appeared.

I had sold the items obtained from killing the boss there and made money.

A whopping ’10 million won’, no less.

Plus, if I become a hunter civil servant or join a guild, I won’t have to worry about money anymore.

There was one more reason I didn’t worry about money.

It was because my future was bright.

This wasn’t baseless delusion.

Through recent events, I had actually been offered quite high salaries.

Because I was a hunter, the salaries started at a basic 50 million won, with the highest being 100 million won.

In a situation where such a future was guaranteed, there was no reason to hesitate over mere groceries.

“Eunbyeol, what else do you want to eat?”

“Hmm? Eunbyeol is okay with just crab?”

“No. Eunbyeol said you wanted to eat all sorts of things before. It’s fine, so pick whatever you want.”

“Umm, really okay?”

“Yes. Really okay. So pick as much as you want. Daddy will buy everything.”

“Hehe, got it! Umm, then want to eat eel too! And salmon too! Ah, right! Want to eat lots and lots of pork belly too!”

Eunbyeol started listing all the foods she wanted to eat.

It seemed she had been holding back because she was worried about my wallet.

So I filled the cart with all the foods Eunbyeol wanted.

To the point where the cart was piled high with food.

Then.

RING RING RING!

The phone in my pocket rang.

Hmm, another media outlet or guild, probably.

I answered the call with a slight feeling of annoyance.

Media outlets were too bothersome, and most guilds were similar in level, so they weren’t particularly appealing.

“Hello.”

Hello. Is this Hunter Seo Juwon?

“Yes, that’s me. Who is this?”

I shopped while holding the phone between my head and shoulder.

To put the cereal Eunbyeol was pointing at into the cart.

Then, a voice came from the other side.

I am Jo Youngbae, recruitment team leader of Myth Guild.

“……What?!”

Startled, I dropped the cereal box on the floor with a thud.

Even when Eunbyeol said the cereal fell and asked me to pick it up, I couldn’t move.

I was too shocked.

“W-What did you just say?”

I said I am Jo Youngbae, recruitment team leader of Myth Guild.

“I-Is this real? Really Myth Guild?”

I asked several times because of the huge shock.

I had no choice.

Myth Guild.

It was the largest guild in South Korea.

Truly the overwhelming number one guild.

Yes. I could send you my business card via text, but you can just believe me.

No one in South Korea would dare impersonate Myth Guild.

I nodded at Jo Youngbae’s words.

I knew it well because I had searched about guild recruitment.

You must never impersonate other guilds, but especially Myth Guild.

If someone impersonated Myth Guild, you never knew what might happen to them.

There were even rumors that even voice phishing scams couldn’t impersonate Myth Guild that’s how great Myth Guild’s reputation was.

“I-I see. By the way, what is the reason for your call?”

It’s simple. Myth Guild wants to recruit Hunter Seo Juwon.

“Really? You really want to recruit me?”

Yes. And it was even recommended by our Guild Master.

“When you say Guild Master, do you mean Hunter Shin Daeho?”

That’s correct.

..!”

At Jo Youngbae’s words, my mouth fell wide open.

Shin Daeho.

Korea’s number 1 ranked hunter.

The monster who reached the top of the Korean hunter world with just a single sword.

He recommended me.

I couldn’t believe it.

Anyway, after various conversations, we set up an appointment to talk in detail in person and ended the call.

“Daddyyy, what is ittt? What happeneddd? Why are you like thattt?”

Eunbyeol, sitting in the cart, asked curiously.

I stood there blankly for a moment before finally opening my mouth.

“Eunbyeol.”

“Yeah?”

“Daddy thinks he just hit the jackpot…….”

A few days later.

After sending Eunbyeol to kindergarten, I went to the place recruitment team leader Jo Youngbae had mentioned.

The meeting place was a luxurious Korean restaurant.

Guided by staff wearing hanbok in this tile-roofed house, I headed to a room inside.

Slide.

When I entered through the sliding door opened by the staff, I met a man.

“Hello, Hunter Seo Juwon. I am Jo Youngbae, recruitment team leader.”

A man wearing an obviously expensive suit worth millions of won greeted me.

Even just the recruitment team leader was this luxurious.

As expected, Myth Guild was different.

“Hello. I am Seo Juwon.”

I greeted him while trying to calm my trembling heart.

We sat down, and soon gorgeous dishes were served.

It was truly a luxurious Korean set meal that could break the table legs.

“Wow, amazing. It feels like receiving a royal feast.”

“Haha, all these dishes are for Hunter Seo Juwon.”

“Huh, if I join Myth Guild, can I eat food like this every day?”

“Well, if you want to, it’s not impossible. Though you’d probably get tired of it first. Anyway, please eat. It won’t taste good if it gets cold.”

“Understood. Thank you.”

Saying that, I started eating.

Braised short ribs, dried corvina, soft tofu soup, nine-section platter, sinseollo, grilled persimmon rolls, and more.

Eating countless dishes was truly enjoyable.

After eating appropriately, Jo Youngbae and I began the main conversation.

Jo Youngbae said.

“As I mentioned over the phone, our Myth Guild wants to recruit Hunter Seo Juwon.”

Thank you. I was really surprised to hear the news. But may I ask why you really want me?

“Ah, we became interested after seeing the news about the Red Gate incident and started reviewing. Then, thanks to the Guild Master recommending that we must recruit Hunter Seo Juwon, things progressed quickly.”

“Oh, I see…….!”

I nodded with a dazed expression.

Back during the Red Gate incident, I thought it was a disaster.

But that incident was actually a jackpot.

A jackpot that connected me all the way to Myth Guild.

Here is the contract. Please read the contract conditions slowly, and I will temporarily tell you only the most important part—the salary.

Jo Youngbae slid over a document envelope and continued.

“We would like to offer Hunter Seo Juwon an annual salary of five sheets.”

“When you say five sheets…….”

“Yes. 500 million won.”

“……!”

500 million.

The moment I heard that number, I felt the hairs on my head stand on end.

Eunbyeol, Daddy just got hit by a money storm.

It was the moment when sunlight finally shone into my life that had been poor my whole life.
