After composing herself, Xing Yue left the room.
When she opened the door again, the two sheep-headed demons standing guard outside—who looked like muscular bros—once again stared at her.
Before, she had been intimidated by their fierce appearance, but now that she knew her backing was the Demon King, Xing Yue wasn't as scared. She mustered her courage, met their gaze, and shot back,
"What are you looking at?"
One of the sheep-headed demons scratched his head with his only three thick fingers and said honestly, "Sorry, Your Highness the Princess, you're too beautiful and charming, and you really look like the Demon King. We couldn't help staring."
"Yeah, yeah, you're a spitting image of the Demon King." The other sheep-headed demon chimed in.
Xing Yue frowned slightly.
Even though she was being complimented, she couldn't be happy.
'Before transmigrating, I was a real man. After coming to this world, I turned into a soft, petite little loli who could be pushed over easily.'
'Even though this life's model is top-tier—so much more refined than before—the thought that I might get... you know, I just can't be happy.'
Also, she felt there was something off about these two sheep-headed demons' eyes.
She and Phyllis could be seen as related at a glance, but upon closer inspection, the difference from her current appearance was quite noticeable.
The easiest way to tell them apart was by their eyes. Phyllis had blood-red pupils with a cross-star pattern inside, like starry eyes—truly unique.
And although she had inherited Phyllis's starry eyes, only one of her eyes was red and starry; the other was blue. Heterochromia like that was extremely rare.
Also, she was a bit taller than Phyllis. Anyone who had seen them both could definitely tell them apart.
So Xing Yue suspected that these two sheep-headed demons identified people only by hair color.
Sure enough, one of the sheep-headed demons nodded and admitted, "Right, in the Demon King Castle, only the Demon King is a two-legged beast with silver hair. The Princess shares exactly the same traits as the Demon King. There's no way to tell you apart..."
'Two-legged beast... hair...'
Hearing that description, Xing Yue felt relieved.
'Well...'
'I guess that's to be expected.'
The Demon King Castle was full of non-human races, and the monsters' thinking was very simple—they distinguished the Demon King by racial traits.
But she and Phyllis were both human, with very similar external features, making it hard for the monsters to tell them apart.
Xing Yue couldn't help but think of a possibility. "Wait, could it be... you guys are actually the guards of the Demon King's room?"
The sheep-headed demon shook his head. "No, the Demon King ordered us brothers to guard outside this room and told us to inform Du Gui if the Princess woke up..."
The other sheep-headed demon interjected, correcting him, "No, no, that was the old order. When the Demon King came out just now, didn't she give a new order? She told us to listen to the Princess and do whatever she says."
"Oh, oh, right, right. Yes. We have to follow the Princess's orders and arrangements."
Seeing how dumb and not-so-bright these two sheep-headed demons were when they talked to each other, Xing Yue didn't find them so scary anymore.
After the two demons finished communicating, they both knelt to Xing Yue. "Princess, what are your orders? Please command us."
"I'm hungry. Take me to get some good food."
"Yes, Princess."
Suddenly, Xing Yue realized these sheep-headed demons were muscular but simple-minded. If their understanding of "good food" differed from hers, and they brought back something weird, that would be a misunderstanding.
So Xing Yue quickly added, "Oh, and I want food that humans can eat... I mean, two-legged beasts can eat."
The sheep-headed demon stopped and looked at his companion blankly. "Uh... what do two-legged beasts eat?"
The other sheep-headed demon shook his head, honest and simple. "Why are you looking at me? I don't know either."
"Didn't the Demon King imprison the saint of the Hero party? Just bring me whatever you feed her."
The two sheep-headed demons looked at each other.
"Uh? Does she need to eat?"
"Don't you just need to give her some water?"
"...?"
Hearing the two sheep-headed demons' words, Xing Yue frowned. "Wait, even if she's a prisoner, you at least feed her something to keep her barely alive, right? Or is this some kind of torture you're implementing?"
The two sheep-headed demons shook their heads.
"We don't know. She never said she was hungry, so I thought two-legged beasts could survive just by drinking water."
"The torture here is to have dream-eating tapirs eat the prisoners' sweet dreams and make them have nothing but nightmares, so they can't sleep well all night."
'What the hell? Are they treating people like plants now?'
'Even plants need some fertilizer! Just watering them would kill them!'
'And that torture is too cruel! Not letting people sleep! That's so evil!'
There were too many crazy things revealed by the two sheep-headed demons. Xing Yue could barely keep up with the absurdity.
As for now, Xing Yue seriously doubted whether that imprisoned saint was still alive.
Not only did she have no food, but she also couldn't sleep well. Even if she was alive, she was probably tortured to the point of going crazy...
After learning about the saint's situation, Xing Yue had even less confidence in getting information out of her.
After all, from what Phyllis said, the saint hadn't revealed any information about the church so far. Even after being tortured so badly, she still kept her secret. She was clearly a loyal and unyielding person.
That kind of person was a hero worthy of respect anywhere. Xing Yue didn't want to torture her either.
As for the task Phyllis gave her...
'Anyway, the Demon King didn't set any requirements, like forcing a confession within a certain time. So as long as the Demon King doesn't push, I'll take it slowly.'
Xing Yue asked the two sheep-headed demons again, "What does the Demon King usually eat?"
The sheep-headed demon answered honestly, "The Demon King usually only drinks water. We've never seen her eat any food."
'Case solved...'
'No wonder these two sheep-headed demons thought two-legged beasts only needed water. They saw Phyllis's habits and made that assumption!'
Xing Yue silently mourned for a certain saint for a second. She decided not to use anyone else as an example anymore and directly gave a clear order. "I want bread and milk... well, forget the milk. Let's go with juice instead. Can you get bread and juice?"
"Probably, Princess. I'll go tell the other demons to gather bread and juice."
One sheep-headed demon, having received Xing Yue's instruction, immediately scampered off.
The other sheep-headed demon, Xing Yue ordered to continue taking her around the Demon King Castle to familiarize herself.
