The distance between them kept shrinking until their faces were almost touching. Ying Su had originally thought the other person would carry that typical elderly scent, but unexpectedly, there was actually a faint fragrance.
Was it perfume or something?
Roland sniffed lightly, then straightened up and said, “I understand. Stay here and hide properly. Don’t run around, understood?”
“I understand, Ms. Roland.”
Ying Su watched as Roland headed toward Zone A, finally letting out a sigh of relief. It seemed she really hadn’t noticed that Olivia was inside her body.
“I thought you were about to fight her just now,” Ying Su said.
Even Olivia found it strange. Under normal circumstances, she would have already crushed the other party into pulp. Thinking carefully, she realized she had been unusually rational up to this point.
Olivia knew herself well enough—arrogant, domineering, unable to tolerate even the slightest offense.
Otherwise, the first thing she did after escaping wouldn’t have been running away, but coming back to take revenge on Roland.
Yet that moment had clearly been the perfect opportunity, and she had actually remained calm enough not to act?
And that person had repeatedly offended her verbally. If it had been one of her servants, they would have been torn apart and left out in the sun long ago. Yet she had only given a minor punishment and let it go.
Was it because she was full?
No… it was this girl.
Olivia suddenly realized something and tried to detach from Ying Su.
Ying Su immediately saw a large amount of blood seeping out of her body—so much that it could have been enough to swim in—but halfway out, it all flowed back inside.
Reluctance.
Olivia actually felt that her current state was excellent. Her mind was extremely clear, and every judgment she made was correct and rational.
If she had acted recklessly like before, there was no way she would have been able to leave this place.
Thinking back, what kind of foolish actions had she taken earlier? She had directly abducted Ying Su, slaughtered her way toward the deeper levels, forced her way through before the doors closed, and then planned to find an escape route.
Then she could have taken Ying Su and left.
Yet now she had ended up having to lie low and wait for an opportunity. Who knew how long that would take?
Although her lifespan was abundant, every day spent here was not something she wanted. It was miserable.
After some time, Roland returned and told Ying Su to follow her back to Zone A.
Zone A was still relatively safe. There were numerous valves separating different areas, and most containment objects were unable to move across zones. Not everything possessed intelligence as high as Olivia’s.
When Roland brought Ying Su back to Zone A, she manually closed the valves again. However, all the guards here had already been killed by Olivia, leaving the corridors empty.
“Stay with me,” Roland said, lifting her nose slightly to sniff again. The faint fragrance coming from Ying Su gave her a sense of reassurance.
She then led Ying Su down the corridor, checking each important containment object according to her memory.
Ying Su remained outside each door, occasionally catching a glimpse inside.
“The Universal Sight is fine… next is…” Roland mentally ticked off her checklist and brought Ying Su to the most important containment object.
As usual, she told Ying Su to wait outside while she entered to inspect.
Containment Object B four one four: Resource Exchanger.
Its appearance consisted of a conveyor mechanism with an input and output system. Its operating principle remained unknown, and all external scans were ineffective.
After pressing the activation button and inserting an item, it would transform into something else.
Most items would convert into gold equivalent to their value. The exchanger seemed to operate on its own internal currency system, where some ordinary items could be exchanged for large amounts of gold.
Aside from gold, it could also produce certain special items.
It was extremely important to the facility.
“The machine is fine as well.” Roland finished checking and prepared to manually lock the valves.
Dr. Anna had already granted her authorization, allowing her to control this section’s valves.
However, when she stepped outside, she noticed Ying Su’s expression seemed slightly dazed.
“Ying Su?”
“Ah, I’m fine, I’m fine. I was just spacing out for a moment,” Ying Su replied.
At the same time, Olivia asked from within her body, “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” Ying Su said again, glancing at the now-closed room before taking a deep breath.
Ding—!
Countless mechanical sounds rang out in her mind, like being bombarded with message notifications all at once.
[Dete-dete-detecting that the original host has di-died… scanning new host information… binding in progress—!]
[Ding! Congratulations on successfully binding System number seventy-six—Elderly Longevity System…]
[Ding! Congratulations on successfully binding System number one zero five four—Game Attribute Allocation System…]
[Ding! Congratulations on successfully binding System number fifty-five—Wealth Cashback System…]
[Ding! Congratulations on succe—]
Ying Su looked up at the room number: B four one four.
She had only glanced inside out of curiosity and seemed to have seen a machine-like object.
And then…
Why were there so many systems?
Could it be that there were so many transmigrators besides her?
And all of them had died?
All of them… here?
A chill ran through Ying Su’s body. Something was wrong. There was definitely something wrong with this facility—at least for her.
[System detection failed… error code one one four five one four… system sealed.]
[System detecting…]
The systems had just attached themselves to Ying Su before malfunctioning again.
One by one, they all went inactive. Ying Su couldn’t use any of them.
Only her own Save and Load System remained active.
After walking for a while, Ying Su suddenly bumped into Roland, who had stopped ahead.
“What’s wrong, Ms. Roland?”
“This is strange. I haven’t seen the Red Monster at all. Ying Su, are you sure it’s here?” Roland asked.
“She was dragging me around earlier, then left me behind. The last time I saw her was definitely in Zone A.”
“Then why weren’t you killed?”
“Uh… I don’t know either, Ms. Roland,” Ying Su said. Even she didn’t understand it. Olivia killed others without hesitation, yet she herself was still alive.
“Maybe it went somewhere else,” Ying Su added.
“Hmm… no. You’re lying. It’s on you!”
Suddenly, Roland turned around. Ying Su seemed to catch a flash of cold light.
But faster than that, she was yanked backward at high speed.
Olivia had pulled her away.
“So it really is on you,” Roland said with a dark expression. Normally, she could smell the Red Monster, but along the way she hadn’t detected any fresh scent.
Only Ying Su emitted that peculiar fragrance. If it hid within her, Roland truly wouldn’t be able to detect it.
“I… Ms. Roland, if I didn’t do this, she would have killed me!” Ying Su cried.
Before she could say more, Olivia engulfed her again.
Olivia immediately understood—Roland had been testing her. Ying Su hadn’t reacted, but Olivia had taken the bait.
She didn’t even know why she had started caring about this girl’s life.
A massive liquid monster surged toward Roland.
Roland’s form shifted, transforming into a werewolf.
With a single whip-like strike, Olivia sent her flying. Even in that monstrous form, Roland was far inferior.
Normally, the best option would have been to devour her and drain her blood. But the last time she tried that, she had been poisoned by anticoagulants in Roland’s blood.
Was this woman not afraid of killing herself by injecting that into her own body?
Still, Olivia remained calm. Fighting Roland was neither advantageous nor safe.
The other party definitely carried specialized weapons against her.
After landing a single blow, Olivia immediately retreated with Ying Su, leaving Roland standing there in confusion.
Something wasn’t right. Normally, this creature would charge at her relentlessly.
She had even prepared her anticoagulant, waiting to use it.
So why did it run?
This time, however, Roland would not be chased around like before. She had come prepared.
She immediately followed the scent.
Meanwhile, Olivia ran at full speed, only stopping after putting distance between them.
“Roland…” Olivia muttered, grinding her teeth in frustration. Once again, that woman had ruined her plans.
“Why don’t you just let me go? She’ll definitely catch up. If you run alone, you might still escape,” Ying Su suggested.
“…”
That was true. Carrying Ying Su limited her movement.
Olivia knew the facility’s water system was cyclical. She couldn’t leave through it, but if she hid inside, she could move freely throughout the base. It would be far safer than staying inside Ying Su’s body.
But every time she tried to separate halfway, a strong sense of unease gripped her.
Once detached, all her agitation, anger, pain, and confusion flooded back into her mind, making her extremely uncomfortable.
Only inside Ying Su’s body did she feel clear-headed and in perfect condition.
“You wouldn’t be unable to leave me, right?” Ying Su asked.
“Stay here later. Let Roland come close, and I’ll kill her,” Olivia decided after careful thought.
It was a terrible decision.
A complete gamble.
Roland definitely had something capable of dealing with her.
But compared to leaving Ying Su’s body and hiding in the sewers—
She would rather gamble.
