Watching everyone cheerfully discussing the topic of returning, Noah felt an unshakable melancholy settle in her heart.
They all knew their identities, knew where they should return to, but what about herself?
Noah didn’t know who she was at all, or rather, she dared not be sure who she was.
Even if she escaped this research institute, where was she supposed to go?
As if sensing Noah’s disappointment, Naya stepped over to her and gently patted her on the shoulder.
“What’s wrong, dear? We’re about to escape this place. You should be happier.”
Noah looked up at him, then looked ahead and sighed softly.
“I’m fine… I’m just thinking, after we get out, where should I go…”
Naya chuckled softly and said in a matter-of-fact tone,
“Home, of course.”
“Home?”
Noah looked at him in confusion.
“Where is home?”
Noah didn’t know where she belonged, nor did she have any memories of home.
She only knew her name, and wasn’t even sure if that name was real.
Seeing Noah’s confused expression, a hint of sorrow flashed in Naya’s eyes.
Even though Noah was right beside him, she was no longer the same person.
Naya looked up at the sky and sighed.
“Dear… you’ve really forgotten everything… Our home is in Tost Town, on the edge of the Ancient Jungle in the Western Continent.
There’s a main road in the town that leads straight to Rofust Square in the Hamman Empire.
You might not remember, but I used to serve as the town’s mayor…”
Naya described it in great detail, as if a vivid town appeared before Noah’s eyes.
But unfortunately, Noah couldn’t recall a single thing.
Suddenly, Noah felt a pang of pain in her heart.
The man beside her was clearly her husband, but she felt no affection for him at all.
And Naya understood better than anyone that Geheluosi was no longer there, yet he still loved her as before.
Even knowing that his love might go unanswered, he still did it.
Noah pressed her lips together, as if she had made a decision.
She reached out and took Naya’s hand, murmured with her head down.
“Then let’s go home. When we get to that town, you can tell me all about it…”
Naya looked at Noah with shock in his eyes.
After a long moment, he chuckled softly.
Their hands tightly clasped together.
Noah heard him reply in a gentle voice.
“It’s a deal…”
The group returned to the place where they had fought Keerman.
Piles of corpses still lay there, including both members of the New Truth Organization and sacrifices from the Primordial Organization.
Naya glanced around the pile of corpses, then looked back at Yoge.
“Let’s begin.”
Yoge nodded.
He awakened Shabu, then gently rubbed her hair.
“My love, awake? Time to eat.”
Shabu slowly opened her eyes.
She first tilted her head to look at Yoge, then turned and crawled toward the pile of corpses.
Countless tentacles lifted a corpse, tearing at it as they brought it to Shabu’s mouth.
“Wait… is she going to…?”
Ska frowned at Shabu, the horrific scene making him nauseous.
Just as Ska thought, Shabu used her tentacles to tear apart the corpses one by one.
Countless fangs chewed through the flesh and bones of the dead, the sound of devouring raw meat echoing endlessly.
Shabu’s tentacles grew countless spikes that severed and shredded the bodies like steel saws.
Even the blood on the ground was sucked dry by the tentacles.
Xin watched the hellish scene expressionlessly, without turning her head as she asked Ska,
“Still feeling warm and fuzzy now?”
“Ugh… I think I’ll stick with science…”
Ska couldn’t take it anymore and decided to turn away from the sight.
The other members of the Primordial Organization watched Shabu’s meal indifferently, as if nothing was wrong.
Xin frowned and asked the members beside her,
“Uh… aren’t there our own people’s bodies in there too? Doesn’t the tentacle monster eating their corpses creep you out?”
The other members glanced at Xin, then silently shook their heads.
“What’s the big deal? The Primordial Organization has always been like this.”
Xin couldn’t help but frown again, but then thought, after leaving the institute, she would part ways with them anyway.
Why bother with this nonsense? So she stopped asking.
Noah nudged Naya with her elbow and asked curiously,
“So, is it because Shabu is hungry, or is there another reason?”
Naya nodded and explained to Noah.
“Dear, have you forgotten? Activating the teleportation array requires three mediums: [Flesh], [Chaos], and [Stars].
You’ve already obtained the power of Stars. Chaos can be obtained by extracting the Filthy Divine Power from Envy.
So now only the flesh medium is left. Letting Shabu eat more will help compensate for the insufficient flesh medium.”
“I see.”
Noah nodded slightly.
Shabu’s body looked very petite, but her stomach was like a bottomless pit, consuming all the corpses.
Her tentacles waved contentedly as she dragged her lazy body toward Zone B.
Seeing that Shabu had finished all the corpses, Naya directed the group to continue the return journey.
The Primordial Organization had annihilated the entire New Truth Organization, and the control room in Zone C was also piled with corpses.
Shabu ate as she walked. It took the group a full two hours to return to the Primordial Organization’s stronghold.
“Oh, so your stronghold is here.”
Ska sat under the shadowless lamp and patted the bed board gently.
“I’ve been to this ward before. Nice environment.”
This plan to rescue Yoge had exhausted the Primordial Organization members.
Everyone found a place to rest, planning to lie down for a while before continuing to set up the portal.
Naya was the last to enter the stronghold’s door.
He looked around the laboratory, then raised his head to gaze at Noah’s back.
Even though the plan was going smoothly, he couldn’t feel happy in his heart.
‘The plan is almost complete…’
Naya thought to himself.
‘But if this continues…’
Suddenly, Naya felt a headache.
He quickly held his forehead, and his other hand tightly gripped his cane.
Naya struggled to keep himself from fainting, and his face turned pale.
“What’s wrong?”
Noah noticed something unusual.
She quietly came to Naya’s side and reached out to support him.
“What happened? Is your injury not healed?”
“I’m fine… dear…”
Naya forced a smile, signaling Noah to help him sit by the bed.
“I might just be too tired. It’s the backlash from overusing the Script… Don’t worry…”
“Are you sure you’re okay?”
Noah frowned and was about to sit with him, but behind her came Suo’en’s voice.
“Madam! Please come over here! We need help!”
“See? They’re calling for you.”
Naya smiled weakly, pointing behind Noah.
“Go ahead, dear. I’m really fine… I just need to rest…”
