“Priest Hero?”
Following Xueyu’s gaze, the crowd’s eyes landed on the white-haired, curvy girl in the midst.
She was hiding behind Ying Ye, head lowered, looking ready to slip away.
The onlookers began whispering among themselves:
“She’s the Priest Hero?”
“Gotta be her. I remember that curvy girl from the Sky Treader Guild video!”
“Quick, post on the forums—the Priest Hero’s in the Royal Capital!”
Silver Fang was momentarily distracted. “Priest Hero? That trending player?”
Feeling the crowd’s stares, Bai Yue Ling coughed awkwardly and stepped out.
“What’s with calling me? Are we close or something?”
Xueyu sneered. “I just wanted a closer look at the so-called legendary Priest Hero.”
“Hah?” Bai Yue Ling squinted at her. “Deadbeat, didn’t you get enough of a look last night?”
Xueyu froze, caught off guard by the response.
The crowd buzzed with whispers, already spinning melodramatic stories in their heads.
Even Xuejianhua muttered, “Big Sis, you already got with this curvy girl last night?”
Xueyu shot her a cold glare. “Shut up.”
On the other side, Ying Ye stared at Bai Yue Ling. “Last night? Little White, what did you do with this woman?”
“Uh… nothing, really. Just shook hands, that’s all,” Bai Yue Ling hummed. “Ying Ye, trust me, I have zero interest in violent types like Xueyu.”
“Violent type?”
Xueyu’s face darkened, her deep red gauntlets humming faintly as if she were about to charge and pummel the white-haired girl into the ground.
As the tension thickened, a nearby guard shouted, “No fighting! This street’s under my jurisdiction. I don’t care about your grudges, but no one’s throwing punches here!”
The Royal Capital’s guards, ranging from levels 20 to 40, were unbeatable for current players.
Attack one, and a swarm would show up.
Assaulting a guard was a serious crime—either face jail time or get exiled.
In short, don’t mess with the guards.
But with their boss being provoked like that, Blood Era’s members weren’t about to back down.
If they couldn’t fight physically, they’d fight with words.
“Priest Hero, you act so high and mighty. I thought you were still number one on the leaderboard,” Xuejianhua mocked. “But you’ve been kicked out of the top ten, haven’t you?”
“Oh, really?”
Bai Yue Ling opened the leaderboard.
Sure enough, her name was absent from the top ten.
First place was SkirtDancer at level 15, with the other nine all at level 14, including “Xueyu.”
But Bai Yue Ling wasn’t the type to grind monsters for levels.
Plus, traveling from the novice village to the Royal Capital had cost her a day on a carriage, so falling behind in levels was expected.
“So you’re saying, weakling, that Xueyu’s level is higher than mine now?”
Bai Yue Ling covered her mouth, smirking wickedly. “But don’t you know, no matter how high a weakling’s level is, they’re still a weakling?”
Xuejianhua snapped, “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“It means, does level matter? Even if I’m one level below your boss, I can still wipe the floor with her.”
Bai Yue Ling drew her Charm Wound Staff, pointing it at Xueyu with a scornful smile.
“Listen up, you weakling who only bullies the weak. Behave yourself in this game. Stay out of your big sister’s way, or I’ll crush you every time I see you.”
The crowd erupted in gasps, Blood Era’s members bristled with anger, and Ying Ye stared at Bai Yue Ling in shock.
In Ying Ye’s memory, Bai Yue Ling was a cheeky girl who loved taunting big sisters, but she’d never been this brazenly provocative.
And Bai Yue Ling had her reasons.
From her ten cycles of experience, she knew she’d inevitably clash with Xueyu in a love-hate struggle.
Since offending her was unavoidable, why not seize the moment—when fighting was off-limits—to get some verbal jabs in?
When you have the upper hand, you go all out. But even in a stalemate, you taunt in their face.
No matter what happens later, at least she’d have her fun now.
Xueyu stared at the white-haired girl, taking a deep breath.
Her face was expressionless, but her eyes burned with barely contained fury.
With the guards watching closely, though, she had no chance to act.
“Priest Hero…” Xueyu pulled out a small notebook, scribbling “Priest Hero” in bold letters.
“Congratulations, you’ve made it onto my ‘Trash I Need to Kill’ list.”
Being on that list meant Xueyu and Blood Era would pursue Bai Yue Ling relentlessly.
But surprisingly, Bai Yue Ling showed no fear, acting as relaxed as if she’d come home.
“Can’t beat me, so you write my name in your little book? That’s all you’ve got, weakling~”
“Wasting words with you is pointless.”
Xueyu turned to leave, not looking back. “Priest Hero, I’ll be waiting at the slime nest. I’ll tear you and the boss to shreds together.”
As Blood Era’s members departed, the onlookers snapped out of their daze.
“Never thought I’d see the day—a level 13 Priest taunting a level 14 Fighter. Does she have a death wish?”
“Don’t forget, she’s no ordinary Priest. She’s the Priest Hero.”
“I thought the Priest Hero was some cute, elegant, gentle girl.”
“My illusions are shattered…”
“But why do I like her even more now? I want to see this cocky brat get brutally countered.”
The crowd at the Adventurer’s Association entrance gradually dispersed. Bai Yue Ling held her head high, strutting inside like a victor.
Suddenly, a massive figure blocked her path.
Silver Fang stood at the entrance, her face hidden by black armor, looming over Bai Yue Ling.
Bai Yue Ling’s lips parted slightly, her face shadowed by the towering figure, staring up in shock at the over-two-meter-tall iron giant, her breathing quickening.
She’d braced herself, but this… this was too big. Bigger than any big sister she’d ever met…
Bai Yue Ling was certain she’d never crossed a big sister named “Silver Fang” in her past cycles.
Silver Fang’s voice came through the heavy armor. “Priest Hero, thanks for teaching them a lesson.”
So she was here to thank her… Bai Yue Ling shook her head. “I didn’t do it for you. They provoked me first.”
Silver Fang chuckled. “Still, I owe you my thanks.”
The frail girl, previously beaten by Xuejianhua, approached, bowing to Bai Yue Ling, then blushing as she gave Silver Fang a hug.
“Um… thank you for saving me. Without you, they’d have killed me back to level 1…”
Silver Fang patted her head with a heavy hand, comforting her.
“It’s okay now. If they bully you again, come find me.”
“Mhm.” The girl sobbed softly, then released the hug, waved, and vanished into the crowd.
Silver Fang let out a long breath, watching the girl leave, seemingly relieved.
Another good deed done today.
Then, Bai Yue Ling kindly warned, “Silver Fang, you should check your inventory. Make sure nothing’s missing.”
“Inventory?”
Silver Fang opened her inventory menu, her movements freezing.
“What the… How am I missing 500 gold coins?”
