Chapter 63: Linlin Is Already Prepared to Be “Eaten” by Me

“Linlin.” Xiran’s voice was soft, crystal clear in the quiet bedroom.

Linlin’s heart clenched.

She looked at Xiran, waiting for the next words.

“You saw it,” Xiran paused, “the contents of that diary, didn’t you?”

Linlin froze.

She knew.

Xiran knew she had read the diary.

A thought flashed through Linlin’s mind—one that made her want to slap herself.

Xiran was the Victim Witch, after all.

Since she had hidden that box, it had to be something very important to her.

She would definitely have protected it with magic.

If anyone touched it, she would definitely sense it.

Linlin had acted like a complete idiot, flipping through someone else’s diary and stupidly believing no one would ever know.

“Mm.” Linlin lowered her head, her voice tiny. “I… I saw everything.”

She waited for Xiran to demand why she had snooped. 

She waited for the explosion, for the anger, for the outburst, and then…

But Xiran didn’t get angry.

She simply looked at Linlin. In those deep black eyes shone a light Linlin couldn’t read.

Then she said something that left Linlin completely dazed.

“Linlin, you didn’t actually remember. You lost those memories.”

Linlin lifted her head and stared at her with wide eyes.

Xiran went on, her tone calm, as if stating a simple fact.

“That segment of memory was sealed away by you. You have no idea what happened in your past at all. Or is the you right now actually Linlin’s second personality—one born from Linlin’s desire to protect herself?”

Linlin opened her mouth.

“I… I…”

She wanted to say no.

She wanted to say it was completely wrong.

She wanted to say she was just a player who had taken over this body.

But before the words could leave her, Xiran raised her hand and pressed one finger to her lips.

“Shh.”

Linlin’s words were stopped short.

Xiran looked at her, the corners of her mouth curving up slightly.

“It doesn’t matter anymore.”

Doesn’t matter?

What didn’t matter?

That who she was didn’t matter?

Or that what happened in the past didn’t matter?

Xiran’s finger was still pressed against her lips—warm, carrying a faint, delicate scent.

Then Xiran spoke again, her voice as soft as a secret.

“Did Linlin dress up so cutely tonight and come all the way here just to reward me?”

Linlin’s mind buzzed.

Reward?

What reward?

“Or is it because after seeing the diary,” Xiran continued, her smile deepening, “you felt guilty and wanted to make it up to me?”

She gave a smile.

That smile was far too familiar to Linlin.

It was the kind laced with wickedness that made one’s back run cold and heart race at the same time.

Linlin’s face flushed bright red.

Reward?

Make it up to her?

She had clearly come here to “die”!

She had come to “be a scumbag” and “end everything”!

But now, with Xiran’s expression, her tone, and those words “reward” and “compensation”…

How was this so different from what she had imagined?

“I… I came to…”

She stammered, trying to explain.

But Xiran’s finger stayed pressed to her lips and didn’t move away.

“Linlin doesn’t need to explain.”

Xiran said gently.

“I already know everything.”

Linlin was about to lose her mind.

Know what?! What do you know!

You think I’m a second personality, but I’m actually a player!

You think I’m here to protect the original owner, but I’m just a guilty idiot who wants to run away!

Linlin suddenly froze.

What had she come here for?

She had originally come to let Xiran punish her.

To satisfy Xiran and then end this instance.

But now Xiran was like this—so gentle, so… cute.

Linlin’s thoughts were a complete mess. She didn’t know what to do.

At this moment, her dazed look was unbearably adorable in Xiran’s eyes—long pink hair spilling down, cheeks flushed pink, eyes round and wide, mouth slightly parted, face full of “Who am I? Where am I? What am I doing?”

Xiran reached out and gently stroked Linlin’s hair.

The light pink strands slid through her fingertips, soft and cool like flowing water.

Then her hand slid lower. Her fingertips brushed Linlin’s cheek.

The strands of hair followed, clinging silkily to Linlin’s face.

It tickled.

Linlin snapped back to reality and met Xiran’s gaze.

Xiran was looking at her. In those deep black eyes there was no madness, no possessiveness—only a focused, gentle light that made Linlin’s heart race faster.

This look was too familiar to Linlin.

She knew exactly what Xiran wanted to do.

She closed her eyes of her own accord.

Her eyelashes trembled lightly like the wings of a startled butterfly.

Sure enough.

The next second, warm breath drew close.

It started with a gentle lick. Something soft brushed her lips.

It wasn’t the devouring, suffocating kiss from before.

It was light and gentle, like a chick pecking rice—peck after peck.

Xiran’s hand rested on the small of Linlin’s back and pulled her closer with gentle strength.

Linlin’s body pressed against hers. Through the thin layers of clothing she could feel Xiran’s warmth.

It didn’t feel bad.

It actually felt… nice.

So Xiran can be this gentle too, Linlin thought secretly.

The kiss went on for a long time.

But unlike before, it never left Linlin gasping until she nearly passed out.

Xiran would kiss for a while, then pull back to let Linlin catch her breath, then kiss again.

As if savoring something extremely precious and unwilling to devour it all at once.

Linlin’s chaotic thoughts slowly settled.

She began to wonder.

Maybe… maybe things didn’t have to be so terrible?

Maybe Xiran had really changed? Maybe…

It felt so… good. So good that she didn’t really want it to stop.

Because right now, like this—being kissed so gently, being held so lightly—she didn’t dare think too much.

Finally, Xiran released her.

Linlin breathed softly. 

Her lips were red and pink from the kissing, still glistening.

She opened her eyes and met Xiran’s gaze.

Xiran looked at her, and that look made Linlin’s heart skip another beat.

“Linlin is already prepared to be ‘eaten’ by me, isn’t she?”

Xiran’s voice was soft, carrying a hint of amusement.

Linlin’s heartbeat quickened even more.

“Eaten.”

Xiran had used that word before.

“I want to eat you up… but then you wouldn’t be cute anymore.”

Back then, Linlin had only felt fear.

But now, the word seemed to carry a different meaning.

She lowered her head and stared at her own fingers.

Her fingertips fidgeted restlessly.

Then she spoke in a tiny voice.

“Mm.”

The sound was so soft it was almost inaudible.

But in the quiet room, it was perfectly clear.

Xiran smiled.

It was a gentle, satisfied smile.

She reached out and stroked Linlin’s head.

From the crown down along the strands, again and again, like petting a kitten.

“Linlin is so good.”

She said.

“Then from now on, Linlin has to listen obediently, okay~”
