Slimes didn’t attack Bai Yue Ling’s group, allowing them to move through the nest with ease, progressing at a blistering pace, getting closer to the boss room.
But suddenly, Bai Yue Ling stopped, ushering everyone into a dark, narrow corner.
Silver Fang was puzzled: “Little White, didn’t you say the boss room’s that way?”
“We’re fast, but Blood Era’s not slow either,” Bai Yue Ling explained.
“They’re probably waiting for Xuejianhua at the boss room now. If we go, we’re just asking for a fight.”
“When should we move, then?”
“The nest’s boss is three ‘Slime Queen Avatars’ with Ice, Fire, and Lightning attributes, all level 20. We can afford to wait a bit.”
Most players were around level 10, with no chance against three level 20 bosses.
This was why no one had cleared the Hard-tier dungeon yet.
Only a group like Blood Era, with detailed boss intel and nine perfectly equipped, coordinated teams, stood a chance.
Ying Ye blinked, asking: “Little White, how do you know about the boss?”
“Uh… Last night, that meaty-thighed secretary slipped me some dungeon info. I spent all night memorizing it,” Bai Yue Ling said proudly. “I definitely wasn’t out messing around.”
Princess, intrigued after her slime encounter, asked: “Does this dungeon have a backstory?” Her interest in Destiny World had grown.
The question opened the floodgates. With nothing to do, the group started chatting like a girls’ dorm after lights-out.
Bai Yue Ling recalled: “I’m not sure, but I heard this is an ancient bottomless cave, ridiculously huge.”
Silver Fang’s muffled voice came through her armor: “Doesn’t feel that big to me.”
“That’s because we’re in areas pre-explored by the Adventurer’s Association, lit by those pale blue flames,” Bai Yue Ling pointed to a sealed-off dark zone.
“But those unlit areas? Even the association doesn’t dare venture in.”
Princess’s curiosity piqued: “What’s in there?”
Bai Yue Ling shook her head: “No idea. Only a few have come out alive, saying there are monsters scarier than slimes.”
In her past lives, she never explored those zones, focused only on collecting slime mucus.
Ying Ye asked: “Since the bosses are avatars, could the real ‘Slime Queen’ be in the unknown areas?”
Bai Yue Ling shrugged: “Who knows? They say this cave existed since ancient times, so anything terrifying in there wouldn’t be surprising.”
Oddly, while Slime Queen Avatars were common, Bai Yue Ling’s memories held no clues about the actual Slime Queen.
The boss likely existed, but in ten cycles, no player in Destiny World had ever found her, as if she’d abandoned her slime kin and vanished.
What kind of terrifying monster could she be?
With that thought, Bai Yue Ling whispered: “Wanna go check it out?”
“Sure!” Princess stood up, ready to march off.
“No, no, I was kidding! What about the boss?”
Bai Yue Ling yanked her back, then froze, noticing movement in the distance.
Her pupils shrank as she held her breath, staring that way.
Seeing her reaction, Ying Ye whispered: “What’s wrong?”
“Shh—”
Bai Yue Ling crouched, signaling silence and pointing to the dark depths.
A figure cloaked in black stood under dim firelight, a curved blade at their waist glinting coldly. After scanning the area and confirming no one was around, they slipped into the darkness.
Ying Ye’s breath hitched—their attire matched the black-clad figures who attacked the Nature Priest!
Why were they here?
“Little White, what do we do?” Ying Ye whispered. “Chase them?”
After a brief pause, Bai Yue Ling said decisively: “Chase.”
“Wait, we’re not fighting the boss?” Silver Fang asked, confused. “Who was that?”
“Just a Hard-tier boss. We can skip it. As for that person… I’ll explain later.”
Bai Yue Ling shook her head. The black-clad figure was a key clue to the epic quest “Shadows Under Divine Light,” which she’d been struggling to progress.
Princess was mildly excited: “Stealth mode time?”
“Yeah, we’re dropping the boss plan for now,” Bai Yue Ling said, looking at Princess. “I’ll refund your 100,000 gold. You can stay here…”
“No way, that’s boring! Games are about thrills!” Princess tucked away her fan, whispering: “Hurry, it’s dark in there—we’ll lose them!”
Silver Fang sighed: “I’d help, but how do I sneak in this armor?”
“Use this.”
Bai Yue Ling handed her slime pet to Silver Fang. Its pale blue mucus coated her massive frame, muffling the armor’s clanking.
With their goal changed, the group abandoned the boss and followed the black-clad figure’s mysterious trail into the deeper, unknown regions of the Slime Nest.
To avoid alerting their target, they carefully bypassed the Adventurer’s Association’s barricades, crouching low, tracking the figure while making no sound.
The unknown area was darker and colder, their breath forming white mist.
Fortunately, it wasn’t pitch-black—glowing mushrooms in the corners provided faint light.
They descended steep rocks, holding their breath, every step cautious.
The black-clad figure, however, navigated the area with ease, moving swiftly through the dark like a shadow. Bai Yue Ling nearly lost them several times.
“Where are they going?” Ying Ye whispered, her long, elegant legs bent low. “We’ve been descending the whole time—hundreds of meters by now.”
“No clue. Maybe a secret base?” Bai Yue Ling guessed, then frowned. “Wait, something’s off…”
“Definitely off,” Silver Fang said gravely. “That figure slowed down deliberately several times, like… they’re waiting for us.”
“Hm~ Classic plot twist,” Princess said, opening her fan with a grin. “We track them so hard, only to fall into their trap.”
As if to prove her point, blue flames suddenly flared up around them.
The four girls looked up, realizing they’d been led into a massive pit.
Dozens of black-clad figures emerged from the darkness.
“Priest Hero, you took the bait.”
The leader, wielding a massive curved blade, pointed it at Bai Yue Ling, their eyes blazing with ferocity:
“Hand over the Nature Goddess’s Crown obediently!”
