Since someone else took the initiative to greet them, Lin Lu stopped and responded, as if both trying to recognize them and confirm something.
“May I ask who you are…” The woman nodded, her gaze slowly sweeping across everyone’s faces before settling back on Lin Lu, but there was no malice in her eyes.
“Y-You… hello.”
Although she didn’t know who this woman was, presumably Heng Guang and the others had mentioned her to some extent, right? “I forgot to introduce myself. You may all call me—Eri.”
“Ah… so you’re Senior Eri…” Lin Lu was somewhat surprised. In her imagination, Eri had been a strict, difficult-to-approach manager type.
“It seems my appearance doesn’t match your expectations.” Seeing Lin Lu’s expression, Eri naturally guessed what she was thinking, a faint smile tugging at the corner of her mouth. “But that’s fine. We’ll have plenty of time to get to know each other.”
“It’s all right.” Eri waved a hand, then turned to Heng Guang. “Heng Guang, go get some rest. I’ll take it from here.”
Heng Guang stood nearby, hands in the pockets of her trench coat, her eyelids already drooping. She glanced at Eri, then at Lin Lu and the others, as if she had just completed an arduous task, and stretched lazily.
“Alright, I’ll leave them to you.” Heng Guang loosened up her joints, her tone carrying a hint of fatigue. “I’m going back to catch up on sleep. I’ve had less than eight hours of sleep in the past few days arranging everything for them.”
Heng Guang waved and turned to leave. “You’ve worked hard,” Eri said. Her steps were brisk, and her dark gray trench coat flashed at the end of the corridor before disappearing around the corner.
Eri withdrew her gaze and looked at the group. “What can you do? Being one of the Seven Blades while also serving as Deputy Chief Judge means a heavy workload. She’s been like that since her first day as a Seven Blade.”
“Is Senior Heng Guang always this busy?” Su Tang asked curiously.
Eri turned sideways and walked deeper into the corridor.
“Come, I’ll take you to your lodgings first. You must be tired after a full day of flying.”
The group dragged their luggage and followed Eri into the elevator.
“By the way, Senior Eri, Senior Heng Guang mentioned that… our arrangements would be communicated by you. I was wondering…”
Lin Shuiyue finally spoke up to ask, since one of the major reasons for coming to the Capital was the verdict on her crimes. Eri smiled.
“Considering that you’ve just arrived at Capital Headquarters, your judgment date has been set for the morning after tomorrow. At that time, we’ll also discuss Chiyoyuki’s identity issue.”
Ding~
The elevator stopped. 28th floor.
“Wow~ Is this our accommodation… It’s so luxurious…”
Chen Xingye leaned over and whispered to Su Tang. After the elevator doors opened, the first thing they saw was a fully carpeted floor, landscape paintings hanging on the walls, and some decorative items lining both sides of the hallway. It felt more like a high-end hotel.
“Your rooms are on this floor.” Eri stepped out of the elevator. “One room per person. Already arranged.”
“One room per person?” Su Tang was a bit surprised. “Such good treatment…”
“The headquarters has plenty of living space.” Eri glanced at her. “Besides… with Chiyoyuki being a witch, if we couldn’t even arrange proper accommodation, wouldn’t that be mistaken for us trying to intimidate her?”
“Uh… so we’re riding on Sister Xue’s coattails after all…”
Lin Lu felt a bit embarrassed. Actually, she had assumed she’d have to find her own place before coming here.
“Haha, just a little joke.” Eri chuckled, stopping in front of a door. “Starting from here, these four rooms are yours. But guests are guests, after all—we must treat them well.”
Lin Lu looked at the small nameplate on the door—”Chiyoyuki.”
“Thank you,” Lin Lu said. Eri nodded.
“I won’t disturb your rest.” As soon as Eri finished saying goodbye and left, Chen Xingye couldn’t wait to open the door and see what the room looked like.
“Wow…” Chen Xingye’s voice came from inside the room, startling Lin Lu and the others into worrying something had happened. Lin Lu pushed the door open and was also stunned by the sight before her.
“Sister Xue! Come look! This room is way too extravagant!”
In the center of the room was an enormous bed with white sheets spread over it.
“This bed could easily fit three people, right?” Su Tang walked over and pressed the mattress. “So soft.”
“Look at the bathroom!” Chen Xingye had already rushed in. “There’s a bathtub! A huge one!”
Lin Lu followed her in and took a look. The bathroom was separated into wet and dry areas—a shower stall and a bathtub. On the sink counter were two sets of toiletries, with towels folded into the shape of little swans placed on the surface. The bathtub was next to a window, with scented candles and a basket of petals on the windowsill.
Su Tang reached out and touched the edge of the bathtub. The smooth marble texture felt cool.
“Come look at the balcony!” Chen Xingye rushed to the other side and pushed open a glass door. A spacious balcony was laid with anti-corrosion wood flooring, furnished with a round table and two lounge chairs. There was even a small pool on the side! Cushions, beige to match the bed sheets, were placed on the lounge chairs. Standing on the balcony, you could see the city skyline—an excellent view.
Even Lin Shuiyue was shocked by the room’s arrangement.
“I agree. I’d believe we were on vacation.”
“Isn’t this… a bit too much?”
Lin Lu nodded. Before the exclamations in the room had even settled, Su Tang and Chen Xingye had already started causing trouble.
“Chen Xingye, don’t stand so close to the pool. If you slip and fall in, I’m not responsible!”
Before she could finish, Chen Xingye’s foot slipped, and with a plop, she fell into the pool.
“How could I possibly slip… I’m not clu… Ahhh!”
“Hahaha! I told you you’d slip, but you didn’t believe me. Serves you right!”
Su Tang stood aside pointing at Chen Xingye and laughing, even pulling out her phone to take unattractive photos of Chen Xingye.
The water in the pool was warm, so Chen Xingye wasn’t worried about catching a cold.
“Su Tang! You dare take ugly photos of me?!” Chen Xingye glared at the laughing Su Tang, her eyes twinkling. She quickly approached the edge where Su Tang stood, grabbed Su Tang’s ankle, and yanked. “Get in here!!”
“Huh?! What are you doing?!”
Before Su Tang could react, Chen Xingye dragged her into the pool. The splash even hit Lin Lu and Lin Shuiyue’s faces.
Lin Lu wiped the water from her face and stared expressionlessly at the two drenched figures in the pool.
“Chen Xingye! I almost got my new phone wet!”
Luckily, Su Tang reacted quickly—the moment she was pulled in, she precisely tossed her phone onto the lounge chair.
“Who told you to take ugly photos of me! And your phone didn’t get wet either!”
The two floundered in the pool like drowned rats, splashing water everywhere.
“Uh… you two keep messing around. I’m going back to my room.”
Lin Lu looked at the two soaked girls in the pool. Their already thin clothes became translucent when wet, clinging to their skin, faintly revealing tempting outlines. Her face flushed, and she decided to head back to her own room.
But Su Tang and Chen Xingye weren’t about to let Lin Lu escape so easily. They stopped their roughhousing in tacit agreement, exchanged a mischievous glance, and then crept toward Lin Lu with their hands outstretched like claws.
“Hey?! What are you two trying to do… I’m warning you, don’t come near me!”
Lin Lu stepped back, trying to flee, but Chen Xingye and Su Tang flanked her from left and right, firmly grabbing Lin Lu and lifting her up.
“One, two… go!”
Plop~
Lin Lu was thrown into the pool.
“Chen Xingye! Su Tang!! I’m really going to discipline you two today!”
“Eek! Sister Xue, don’t grab there!”
