In the deepest recesses of the Underground Prison beneath the Judgment Church’s Hall of Justice, the environment was oppressively dim.
The air was damp, cold, and reeked of decay, devoid of any trace of life. Faint, futile murmurs echoed from nearby cells—desperate cries of prisoners trapped in despair.
The Judgment Church’s prison held hundreds, perhaps thousands, of inmates, organized by the severity of their crimes.
Those at the upper levels, guilty of lesser offenses, might be freed after a few months.
But the deepest cells housed the most heinous criminals, for whom death would be a mercy. Their fate was eternal torment within these icy confines.
Today, the deepest cell welcomed a peculiar new prisoner.
Clank, clank—
Cold Magic-Sealing Chains bound Bai Yue Ling’s delicate frame, suspending her mid-air like a slab of curing meat.
Unable to move, her voluptuous chest hung like teardrops, swaying with a lingering ripple.
She now wore a Prison Uniform, exuding an austere, forbidden allure.
[Equipment Name: Prison Uniform]
[Quality: Broken]
[Attack/Defense: None]
[Equip Condition: Become a Prisoner]
[Attribute Bonus: None]
[Description: Wearing this severs you from the world. Your life will be spent in a cold cell, perhaps accompanied by the lash of a jailer’s whip.]
[Note: This is the ‘prison chic’ vibe!]
Even the chains were specially crafted.
[Item Name: Magic-Sealing Chains]
[Quality: Common]
[Description: Forged from magic-sealing stone, these chains suppress skills and weaken attributes.]
[Note: Magic-sealing isn’t foolproof—powerful mages can ignore the stone’s effects, but it’s more than enough for small-fry Otherworld Travelers.]
“Help—!” Bai Yue Ling thrashed, swinging like a pendulum.
The chains clinked sharply, their crisp sound piercing the eerie silence of the prison’s depths.
She was beyond regret.
She had calculated everything perfectly.
Viki’s Mental Magic couldn’t breach her mental defenses.
She’d planned to teach Viki a lesson and slip away, her name unsung but her victory assured…
Who could’ve predicted Viki would throw honor out the window and call in the Grand Archbishop of Judgment?
A level 40 Mage bullying a level 19 Priest was bad enough, but bringing a level 65 ally?
After her arrest, Taoxia had asked only two questions:
“Education?”
“Uh… high school.”
“Occupation?”
“Priest.”
With that, Taoxia tossed her into the prison and ignored her.
The more Bai Yue Ling thought about it, the angrier she got. Heartbroken, she wailed, “Let me out—! I’m innocent—!”
She was in dire straits.
Bound by the Magic-Sealing Chains, she couldn’t muster a shred of mana or use any skills.
Her newly acquired Friend of Slimes title skill was useless, Ming Die’s Ring of the Dead was inaccessible, and even forcibly logging out was blocked.
She could only wait helplessly for her trial in two hours.
“Shut up!” a sinister voice growled from a nearby cell.
“Behave, or I’ll skin you alive!”
“Wah—! Even my cellmates are so rude—! I don’t wanna live—!” Bai Yue Ling cried.
“Quiet, you dumb newbie!” another cell hissed. “Yelling like that will get you punished by that damned cat!”
“Punished? How?” Bai Yue Ling asked.
“With the Ring of Judgment, of course,” the sinister voice sneered.
“That skill tears your soul apart with endless pain, like thousands of red-hot wires piercing you. Every moment is pure agony—begging for life or death won’t help.”
Bai Yue Ling gasped. “That powerful?”
“They say the Ring of Judgment draws on the Goddess of Judgment’s power. Dunno if it’s true,” another cellmate said gravely.
“I’ve seen plenty of tough-talking prisoners like you. After a few hits of the Ring of Judgment, they all turn docile as puppies.”
“The Goddess of Judgment, huh…?” Bai Yue Ling fell silent, then thrashed even harder.
“Hey—! Is the Judgment Church full of useless trash? My skin’s itching—come give me a taste of that punishment—!”
“You idiot, are you insane?!” a cellmate panicked. “You’ll bring them down here!”
“Too late,” another said grimly. “No footsteps after all that noise? That damned cat’s coming herself…”
Sure enough, moments later, a twin-tailed cat-eared loli—Taoxia—glided down silently, her light frame making no sound.
She stepped lightly to Bai Yue Ling’s cell, slamming her small gavel against the bars.
“Silence, meow,” she said, her cute voice forced low.
An invisible wave of magic rippled out, forcing Bai Yue Ling’s mouth shut.
“What’s with all the noise, scum?”
Taoxia glared at the disruptive prisoner. “Trash like you deserves to burn in hell.”
Bai Yue Ling kept making muffled protests, defiant.
“In two hours, you’ll leave this prison for your trial. Stay quiet, and nothing happens,” Taoxia said, her eyes cold.
“Or do you want a taste of the Ring of Judgment before you go?”
“Hmph!” Bai Yue Ling glared down at Taoxia, her eyes dripping with disdain, as if mocking her.
“Tch…” Taoxia’s cat tail flicked irritably. She covered her mouth with her gavel, pouting secretly, then looked up.
“Fine. You’re the first piece of garbage to ask for the Ring of Judgment.”
The surrounding prisoners whispered in shock.
“Is this fool crazy, taunting that damned cat?”
“She’s leaving in two hours—why court death?”
“Guess we’ll hear some delightful screams.”
These prisoners had all been proud and defiant before their punishments.
Now, they’d learned to tuck their tails and behave.
To them, Bai Yue Ling’s actions were suicidal.
Taoxia opened the cell, commanding the chains to lower Bai Yue Ling.
She gripped Bai Yue Ling’s soft, cool cheek, her voice icy. “Never heard such a bizarre request, but if you want to die, I’ll oblige!”
Her gavel slammed into Bai Yue Ling’s forehead. Crimson-gold magic surged like electricity, spreading through her body like thousands of searing needles piercing her flesh and soul.
Bai Yue Ling’s eyes widened, her tongue lolling as she let out a pained wail: “Eek—!”
Taoxia stared impassively, devoid of pity or joy, then turned to the other cells. “Hear that, you filth? Misbehave, and this is your fate…”
But then, the wails stopped.
“That’s it?”
Taoxia turned back, puzzled, to see Bai Yue Ling smirking with playful mockery.
“Weakling loli, didn’t you eat today? So pathetic—way worse than your crazy Goddess~”
