The flood of unsealed memories overwhelmed Aiya’s heart, scenes and experiences flashing before her eyes like a movie.
When she opened her eyes again, gazing at Bai Yue Ling, there was no trace of unfamiliarity. Instead, her eyes held the steadfast resolve of a knight, tinged with a gentle warmth beneath.
“Little White… I’m sorry,” Aiya said, her eyes lowered, voice heavy with guilt. “I was too careless, letting my guard down and getting hypnotized by Her Highness…”
Bai Yue Ling exhaled in relief, smiling. “It’s okay, I don’t blame you.”
“Mm…” Aiya paused, then stood abruptly. “Let’s go corrupt Her Highness!”
“Wait, don’t go! We haven’t dealt with this catgirl loli yet!”
Taoxia had been quietly observing Aiya’s transformation from the side.
She confirmed two things: first, Aiya’s memories were indeed sealed; second, this Otherworld Traveler named Priest Hero was immensely important to Aiya.
“Lady Taoxia,” Aiya knelt on one knee, her voice sincere. “Little White fought Her Highness to save me. Please show mercy and spare her this once.”
“Even if we overlook the crime of attacking the Third Princess, she must still face judgment,” Taoxia said, shaking her head, her doll-like face resolute.
“Good is good, evil is evil. No amount of pleading will sway my verdict.”
Taoxia adhered to a complex and thorough set of judgment criteria to distinguish right from wrong, good from evil, light from darkness.
Given Bai Yue Ling’s Kill Value of 150, backed by ample witnesses and evidence, Taoxia decisively deemed her a “gravely sinful” person.
Once Taoxia made a verdict, she executed it unwaveringly, unaffected by personal favors or external influence.
But then, Bai Yue Ling spoke up. “Little loli, compared to the crimes of your Judgment Church, my 150 Kill Value is nothing.”
“What did you say?”
Taoxia’s gaze turned icy, like a chilling winter wind, sending a shiver through anyone caught in its path.
A tidal wave of oppressive aura hit Bai Yue Ling, making her legs tremble uncontrollably.
Yet she stood her ground, forcing a smile.
“Everyone just keeps quiet about it, but who doesn’t know the sins your Judgment Church has committed in recent years? I think the ones who need judging most are you.”
Taoxia’s petite chest heaved, her face flushing with anger. “The Judgment Church upholds justice in the world. How dare a sinful Otherworld Traveler like you slander us?”
“Oh, really?” Bai Yue Ling smirked. “But my Aiya feels wronged, doesn’t she? She’s just too shy to say it.”
Taoxia turned to Aiya, who nodded, speaking softly. “You may not know, but some bishops have used the guise of judgment to pursue personal gain.”
“Personal gain?” Taoxia’s tail bristled uneasily. “Why wasn’t I informed?”
“Because… those greedy bishops are cautious and have banded together, deceiving you and the other bishops,” Aiya said, her voice growing quieter.
“I only escaped their control because I became a Chosen. Please uphold the sanctity and justice of the Judgment Church.”
Taoxia’s face darkened, her delicate frame trembling slightly.
But she soon calmed, her clear eyes resolute. “Thank you, Aiya. After the trial, I’ll investigate this thoroughly.”
Just then, the bell tolled, signaling the start of the trial.
Taoxia gripped the chain, dragging Bai Yue Ling forward with determined steps.
“Hey, are you serious? I’m the one who pointed out your problems!” Bai Yue Ling struggled. “Can’t I get credit for that?”
“You can,” Taoxia replied. “If you behave well afterward, your year of labor at the mines can be reduced or waived, but your level will still be reset to zero.”
“You’re even more stubborn than Aiya!”
At the center of the Chamber of Judgment stood a massive scale, labeled “Good” and “Sin” on either side.
Behind it loomed a solemn statue of the Goddess of Judgment, her Sword of Judgment radiating a dense aura of menace.
Bai Yue Ling, bound tightly by chains, stood before the scale, her face pale. She hadn’t expected this catgirl loli to be so inflexible.
Yet only someone as steadfast and resolute as Taoxia could qualify as a Grand Archbishop of Judgment, impartially judging the world’s good and evil.
Each church had unique methods to reset Otherworld Travelers’ levels, first confining their soul to prevent it from leaving Destiny World and fixing their respawn point.
The specific methods varied: the Church of Nature used sturdy vines to strangle repeatedly, the Church of Life infused excessive life energy until the body burst.
The Judgment Church struck the heart with a Judgment Gavel until it stopped beating.
As Taoxia prepared to begin the trial, Aiya grabbed her hand tightly.
“Lady Taoxia, I can’t let you do this.”
“Aiya,” Taoxia said without turning, “let go, meow. Sit down, meow.”
The ripple of Word Spirit magic forced Aiya to release her grip and sit motionless.
The catgirl loli stepped forward, and Bai Yue Ling clenched her teeth, sweat beading on her forehead.
Would all her hard-earned levels from grinding bosses really be lost here?
But at that moment, the doors of the Chamber of Judgment were blasted open with immense force!
A massive, sturdy vine, writhing like a giant python, burst in. Atop it sat a mature woman in a Vine Robe and an anxious, thick-thighed secretary.
Finally, they arrived… Bai Yue Ling sighed in relief.
Taoxia spun around, her stern face filled with displeasure at the intruders.
“Sistana, what are you doing here?”
Before Sistana could respond, Bai Yue Ling shouted, “Mommy, save me!”
Mommy?
Aiya and Shi Qianla’s faces changed, glancing worriedly at Sistana.
But Sistana showed no reaction, seemingly unbothered by the term.
Good thing Sistana had a calm temperament.
“Mommy?” Taoxia, usually so serious, spoke with rare sarcasm. “Old hag, since when did you have a daughter?”
Sistana leapt gracefully from the vine, her ample chest swaying dramatically, casting a shadow over the catgirl loli’s face.
Looking down, she said bluntly, “Shut up, little loli.”
Without waiting for Taoxia’s reaction, Sistana extended two vines, forcefully shattering the chains binding Bai Yue Ling.
“Does the Judgment Church think it can judge a priestess of our Church of Nature?”
