Looking at her own panel, Lin Yi sighed.

“What’s wrong?”

Yan Jianxing asked, biting the straw of her Wangzai milk carton as she turned to look at Lin Yi.

“Exams are over! Whether you did well or not, you shouldn’t sigh!”

Lin Yi looked ahead.

Next to the club building stood the Comprehensive Sports Gymnasium of Zhuming Girls’ High School, consisting of a new hall and an old hall connected by a corridor.

The badminton court where Yan Jianxing was located was inside the old hall, which contained a total of twelve indoor badminton courts.

Lin Yi had once asked Yan Jianxing why, as a sports enthusiast, her skin was so fair.

Yan Jianxing’s answer was that all the badminton team’s training took place indoors, including running.

After the exams finished, Lin Yi had wanted to go back to the dorm alone and lie down, but unable to resist Yan Jianxing’s enthusiastic invitation, she decided to come take a look at the gymnasium.

Yan Jianxing said that their old class teacher had already asked Lin Yi to find an extracurricular hobby to cultivate.

As the class sports committee member and Lin Yi’s roommate, she couldn’t just stand by and do nothing.

If possible, it would be best to sign the team application form right on the spot today!

The two of them crossed the outdoor football field, entered the old gymnasium, and went to the women’s locker room to change.

After changing into her sportswear, Yan Jianxing slung her racket bag over her shoulder.

Her upper body looked just like that iconic picture of Kanna.

My heart is moved, folks.

Pushing open the door to the badminton court, they could see many team members practicing on the courts.

The sound of shoe soles squeaking against the floor and rackets hitting shuttlecocks echoed throughout the hall.

But among all those figures coming and going, only one young woman was an exception.

In Lin Yi’s line of sight, time seemed to slow down.

The slanting rays of the setting sun were sliced by the row of huge floor-to-ceiling windows on the west side, falling onto the deep brown wooden floor to form a row of gradually lengthening rectangular patches of light, like some kind of melting amber.

Just like the eye color of that young woman within her view.

The young woman in front of the scoreboard had fair skin that contrasted sharply with her long, smooth black hair.

Her small, straight nose bridge and full, glossy lips were tinged grapefruit-pink by the sunset glow.

Her delicate features exuded an aloofness that no one else could achieve.

Many people ask how the term “flower on a high peak” can be visualized.

Lin Yi could answer that now.

Only the young woman before her could represent that term.

Perhaps from an appearance perspective, her flawless eyes and lips were already beyond description.

One could only catch a glimpse from the expression that held hidden coldness, unworldliness, and cynicism.

If she also had a panel, her charm value would definitely be A too, Lin Yi thought.

Lin Yi blurted out, “That young woman with the long black hair, is she also a member of the badminton team?”

Yan Jianxing followed Lin Yi’s gaze and then shook her head.

“No, that person seems to be from the Art Club. She’s just here gathering material.”

“Gathering material?”

“Yeah. She’s a big name in our grade, Jian Shuye. Very beautiful, right?”

Seeing Lin Yi nod silently, Yan Jianxing smirked mischievously and nudged her shoulder with an elbow. “Hey, do you know Jian Shuye has a nickname?”

“What nickname?” Lin Yi’s first thought was something like Feng Chuyue’s “Moon God” nickname.

“Her nickname is ‘The Ultimate Solution to All Problems.’ How about that? Sounds impressive even if you don’t understand it, right?”

Lin Yi was puzzled.

“What does this nickname mean?”

“Not too clear. It seems to be saying that with her family background and personal abilities, she could probably solve any problem on Earth.”

“Hah. So can she solve the unification of the four fundamental forces or the turbulence problem in quantum chromodynamics?”

?

That stumped Yan Jianxing.

She froze on the spot, lost in thought.

Whether their conversation had reached Jian Shuye’s ears, or the sunlight had fallen on Lin Yi’s face, making her the center of the entire hall… in any case, Jian Shuye, stepping in her black loafers, walked towards Lin Yi.

“Oh no, we were secretly gossiping about her behind her back, and she caught us red-handed.”

“I propose we both bow and apologize now. Maybe there’s still time.”

Jian Shuye stopped in front of the two, her gaze turning to Lin Yi as she raised a slender, pale finger.

“You, pick up a racket now and stand at the net, about… this position.”

She crossed her arms over her chest, merely extending the enticing calf beneath her black-and-red plaid pleated skirt, clad in black over-the-knee socks, and tapped the floor with the tip of her shoe.

Lin Yi pointed at her own nose.

“Me… me?”

“Yes. And, you there, give her your racket.”

Yan Jianxing’s mouth opened slightly.

“Do I have to join in too?”

Jian Shuye clicked her tongue.

“You don’t. You don’t have the right feeling. Let her do it.”

Yan Jianxing, Class One’s sports committee member, the badminton team’s rising star, a typical beauty with both skill and looks… was being looked down upon.

Aura declining.

Lin Yi felt that if she used a mood emoji on Yan Jianxing right now, she’d probably see the surprised little yellow bean—the one with the blue forehead.

For some reason, Yan Jianxing handed her racket to Lin Yi, and then Lin Yi, as instructed by Jian Shuye, assumed a pose at the net.

Jian Shuye extended her index fingers and thumbs on both hands, as if mimicking taking a photo, took a few steps back, and framed Lin Yi’s figure within her fingers.

“A little more to the left. Try jumping.”

“Okay…”

“Jump higher. Didn’t you eat?”

“I did, I did!”

After a while, Jian Shuye shook her head, as if choosing to give up.

She grabbed the pure black handbag placed under the scoreboard and walked out as if no one else was there, without looking back.

Yan Jianxing and Lin Yi both watched her departing back and simultaneously thought of four words.

Completely baffling.

The badminton team captain jumped down from the referee’s seat and blew her whistle.

“Take a break!”

Then Yan Jianxing asked, “Captain, that Jian Shuye has been hanging around the training hall for three days now.

Is she joining the badminton team or not?”

The captain gave a bitter smile.

“Joining? She’s never said anything about it.”

“Is she really just here gathering material? But I heard she’s also very athletic. She even participated in the Inter-High School Games before.”

“Who knows? Don’t ask too much about rich people’s business. She has her own ideas.” The captain picked up a shuttlecock that had fallen by her feet.

“Besides, this school is one of her family’s properties. She can go wherever she wants.”

“That’s true…”

“Alright, enough about that.” The captain looked at Lin Yi.

“So this is the roommate you mentioned, the really good-looking one?”

Lin Yi covered her mouth, stifling a giggle.

“So that’s how you introduced me?”

“What else could I do? I just wanted you to make a quick impression on the captain.” Yan Jianxing put her hands on her hips.

“If you apply to join now, we can train together and compete in matches together in the future!”

The captain wasn’t in a hurry.

She pointed to the court.

“You can also experience it here for a few days first, get familiar with the sport, and then think about joining.”

Lin Yi thought what the captain said made sense.

Anything you can stick with long-term isn’t decided on a whim.

“Here, for you.”

Yan Jianxing handed the racket over, her smile like sunlight melting winter snow.

“While everyone’s taking a break, let’s play a round.”

“Are you sure you’re not just bullying me?”

“Don’t worry, I’ll hold back. I wouldn’t bully anyone, especially not you.”

Haha, so sincere.

Well then, what’s there to say?

I’ll just play a round with you.

Lin Yi held the racket, stood on the court, and focused her gaze on Yan Jianxing.

Swish!

That shuttlecock was so fast, it seemed like it wanted to escape Earth.

Lin Yi only felt a gust of wind pass by her ear before the kind captain flipped a page on the scoreboard.

Seriously, sis, are you playing for real?

What’s with that expression?

Why do you look like you really want to win?

Are you really holding back?

Help!
