“What’s over there, meow?”
Phyllis looked toward the spot Carola was staring at, but even after searching for a long time, she couldn’t find any clues.
With a wave of Carola’s hand, a particle no larger than a speck of dust floated up from the ground and into her palm.
“Master, what is that, meow?”
Phyllis leaned in for a closer look but still couldn’t tell what it was.
She only felt a strange sense of familiarity.
“Your blood.”
Carola’s words were startling.
“Huh?”
Phyllis froze.
“Why would her blood be here?”
“…It’s Blood Source Resonance.”
Carola pulled her hand back and looked at Phyllis with a complex expression.
“Blood Source Resonance? What’s that? Why would that put my blood here?”
Phyllis looked at Carola, waiting for an explanation.
“It is an ability of the high-ranking Blood Tribe. It is somewhat impractical, as it not only consumes a massive amount of energy but can only transport small amounts of blood through the void. Coincidentally, I sent a sample of your blood to the Ventrue Clan earlier.”
Carola’s expression darkened.
“???”
Phyllis was stunned.
‘You sent my blood to the Ventrue Clan for what?’
“I wanted those in the Ventrue Clan to help me investigate what makes your blood so miraculous. At the same time, I wanted to ask the relevant experts why there was an issue when I signed the Master-Servant Contract with you.”
As if hearing Phyllis’s inner thoughts, Carola explained her actions.
“So now…”
Phyllis understood Carola’s reasoning, but it seemed they were in big trouble now.
“Now that we know the cause, it will be easier to handle.”
Carola clapped her hands, stowing the droplet of blood away.
“Adrian is one of the few beings who could escape from his cell after regaining his strength. Next, I simply need to reinforce the defenses for the other powerful prisoners.”
“Furthermore, this proves two things.”
Carola walked toward Phyllis.
“Which two things, meow?”
Phyllis took a few steps back, exiting the prison cell.
“First, there is a faction within the Ventrue Clan that is dissatisfied with me. Second…”
Carola stepped out of the cell and stopped in front of Phyllis, reaching out to gently caress her cheek.
“They have their eyes on you, Phyllis.”
“They’re targeting me?”
Phyllis’s tail fluffed up instantly.
This was terrible news!
There was a saying from her past life that fit perfectly: ‘It isn’t the thief you fear, but the one who keeps watching!’
She was trembling with rage!
She was just a Cat Girl.
It was bad enough that she had somehow become the lover of a yandere Blood Princess!
How had she suddenly become the target of an entire group of the Blood Tribe?
“What happens if I’m targeted? Will other vampires kidnap me?”
Phyllis asked.
“If you were captured by other members of the Blood Tribe, you might be kept in a cage and have your blood sucked by different vampires every day.”
‘How scary, meow!’
Phyllis’s teeth chattered with fear.
“However, you don’t need to worry about that.”
Carola leaned closer to Phyllis and closed her eyes.
The tip of her nose pressed tightly against Phyllis’s neck as she took a deep breath.
“Um, why, meow?”
Phyllis felt like her head was full of question marks today.
“Because you are mine! I will not allow other vampires to have you.”
Carola opened her eyes, her tone as flat as if she were stating a simple fact.
However, the extreme possessiveness flickering in those red pupils made Phyllis shiver.
Between being Carola’s lover or being kidnapped by other vampires to be a pet… which was better?
‘Neither of them is good!!!’
Phyllis didn’t want to make that choice at all!
“So, you don’t need to worry about this.”
Carola’s fingers slid from Phyllis’s cat ears down to her chin, where she began to scratch gently.
“But what if…”
Phyllis was worried that another situation like Adrian’s would happen.
“It’s fine. I’ll give you a Magic Tool for protection in a moment. I was going to give it to you earlier, but I was afraid you wouldn’t be willing…” Carola replied, narrowing her eyes.
“I want it! I want it! I knew Master was the best!…”
Under the threat to her life, Phyllis decisively threw away her pride and showered Carola with praise.
“I’ll take you to get it as soon as I finish reinforcing these cells.”
For some reason, Carola actually started laughing.
Looking at Carola’s smile, Phyllis felt a sense of looming mischief.
However, she didn’t overthink it.
Right now, gaining some means of survival was the priority.
Carola reinforced the protections on several special cells before leading Phyllis out of the basement.
Outside the basement, the massive Magic Formula was still continuously running.
However, as they were leaving, Carola gave a casual wave, and the Magic Formula actually stopped.
“The problem has been found, so there is no need for it.”
“Oh, okay.”
Phyllis responded, only half-understanding.
A Magic Formula of this level must consume a staggering amount of mana.
In the Catkin tribe, something like this would probably only be used during an Extermination Crisis.
It was only natural that Carola wouldn’t keep it active normally.
“We’re here.”
Carola’s voice pulled Phyllis’s thoughts back to reality.
The two had arrived in front of Carola’s bedroom.
“What happened here?”
Phyllis saw that the door to Carola’s bedroom was lying on the floor.
“Was your place attacked too—”
Carola shot Phyllis a look.
Phyllis shut her mouth immediately.
Then, she noticed a footprint on the door that was roughly the same size as Carola’s foot.
‘Oh… so Carola kicked the door down herself!’
“Well, that was fine then!”
Carola easily lifted the door.
Phyllis wanted to help, but she didn’t know how to contribute, so she stood to the side and watched as Carola set the door back into the frame.
“Give me a hand.”
Carola looked back at Phyllis.
“Right, meow.”
Phyllis stepped forward.
“What do you need me to do, meow?”
“Hold the door steady!” Carola replied.
“Got it!”
Phyllis used her body to brace the door.
*Clang! Clang! Clang!*
Out of the corner of her eye, Phyllis saw Carola pull repair tools out of her Space Bracelet.
In a few quick motions, the door was fixed in place.
‘So impressive!’
Was this the kind of skill one developed after living for so long?
Phyllis couldn’t help but feel a twinge of shame.
Despite having the experiences of two lives, she didn’t have many specialties; she mostly just enjoyed eating and sleeping.
“Right now, it seemed the only special thing about her was her blood…”
She really was a bit… lazy.
Phyllis sighed inwardly.
“Come in! I’ll give you the Life-saving Magic Tool.”
Carola gave the door a test push to ensure it opened and closed properly, then gestured for Phyllis to follow.
Phyllis followed Carola into the bedroom.
The coffin still sat in the center of the room.
“I think I left it near the bed.”
Carola rummaged through the coffin, searching for the protection tool.
‘What kind of life-saving magic tool is it?’ Phyllis wondered expectantly.
“Found it!”
Soon, Carola found the item.
“Here.”
Carola held the object out.
Except… this thing…
“A… a collar???” Phyllis stammered, pointing at the Magic Tool Carola was holding.
“That’s right. A Life-saving Magic Tool made specifically for you~” Carola shook the collar in her hand.
“What do you think? Do you like it?”
“I…”
