Chapter 44: Truth After Drinks

“Who are you? Boss, another beer!”

“Miss, I suggest you stop drinking.”

The proprietress watched Sephine, who was drunk after just one small glass of beer, and served her a glass of milk instead.

She didn’t want a tipsy young girl getting into an accident in her shop.

The tavern was busy, and there was no telling if someone with bad intentions might cause trouble.

For instance, this woman in a trench coat didn’t look like a good person.

It was already dark outside.

Sephine broke free from Vi’s grip on her foot.

“Clothes are too expensive. I forgot to bring money, so I only bought a few things for them.”

“Your life is so difficult, yet you didn’t think about going back to your… ex-husband?”

Vi helped Sephine with her shoes, only now realizing they were the ones she had gifted Sephine before.

She probably wore them because she didn’t have any other shoes at home that fit.

Sephine lowered her head, staring at the ground, answering haltingly.

“I don’t want to be a pet.”

“I don’t want to be a burden to her.”

Vi took off her trench coat and draped it over Sephine.

This thin clothing couldn’t withstand the cold night wind.

But at this moment, Vi suddenly wanted to talk to Sephine more.

“When the children grow up, I’ll send them back. Then I’ll return to my hometown and wait for death.”

“No.”

“Hehe, but there’s no other way, right? I don’t want to either.”

Sephine smiled foolishly at Vi.

Then she stood up and gave Vi a kiss.

“Why?”

Vi brushed the dust off Sephine and tidied her messy hair.

Sephine returned to being that cute young girl.

“Because we’re divorced~ dummy.”

“The Wedding hasn’t even happened yet, how can we talk about divorce? I even had the wedding dress made for you.”

“That kind of thing doesn’t interest me anymore.”

Sephine lightly bit her index finger and tapped it against Vi’s forehead.

“Don’t keep talking about life and death. Aren’t you doing fine? I’m begging you, can we make up?”

Vi moved closer.

Sephine stood right in front of her.
