“Who are you? Boss, another beer!”
“Miss, I suggest you stop drinking.”
The proprietress watched Sephine, who was drunk after just one small glass of beer, and served her a glass of milk instead.
She didn’t want a tipsy young girl getting into an accident in her shop.
The tavern was busy, and there was no telling if someone with bad intentions might cause trouble.
For instance, this woman in a trench coat didn’t look like a good person.
Seeing a pretty girl and leaning in… the owner had seen it all—those who liked women, those who liked men—she had seen them all.
She wouldn’t let her guard down just because the stranger was a woman.
Since the guest had entered her establishment, she would take responsibility for her.
This was why the tavern had so many customers.
“I suggest you behave yourself here. We have bouncers.”
“Boss, I know her. We just had a falling out recently.”
“That’s what everyone who tries to pick up a ‘corpse’ here says.”
Sephine suddenly lifted her head, staring at the woman’s face.
She couldn’t see clearly, so she leaned closer.
“You look a lot like my husband… wait, I think I’ve already divorced~”
“Ex-husband! *hic*~”
“See, she admitted it!”
The Demon King hadn’t expected to be recognized so easily even while wearing this Disguise.
Fortunately, Sephine was drunk; otherwise, she would have definitely been chased away.
Sephine’s head dropped again.
Her hair was a mess, stained with the beer spilled on the table.
In Vi’s memory, Sephine’s tolerance for alcohol was terrible.
Unless someone forced her, she would never drink on her own.
“She called you her ex-husband. You young girls really know how to play.”
“It’s just a misunderstanding. We’re still a couple. I’m so sorry, she’s caused you trouble.”
“Just take her away. It’ll be bad for her health if she catches a cold. These two glasses of milk are on the house.”
Vi bowed and thanked the proprietress.
This was the first time in a long while she had been so humble toward an outsider.
Placing Sephine’s arm over her shoulder, Vi carried her on her back and walked out.
It was already dark outside.
She didn’t know how long Sephine had been there.
Vi was very strong.
Even though Sephine’s body was limp, she could carry her easily.
However, Sephine kept squirming on her back.
Fearing she might fall, Vi walked very carefully.
“Put me down! I want to walk by myself!”
“Stop it. I’m taking you home.”
“I’m not going to the Imperial Palace! That place is no good at all!”
Sephine’s movements became more violent.
Vi had no choice but to set her down.
Fortunately, there was a bench nearby.
Sephine’s small feet, encased in thick white silk stockings, kept shaking in the air, almost kicking off her black leather shoes.
After placing her on the bench, the first thing Vi did was help her put her shoes back on properly.
“Don’t move.”
“That tickles~ Who are you again? Where’s the older sister from before?”
“I’m your lover.”
“Liar! Where would I get a lover? I only have children… Oh, right! They haven’t eaten yet. I have to go back quickly.”
Sephine broke free from Vi’s grip on her foot.
One unshod foot hit the ground, and since the heights were uneven, she accidentally tumbled.
“It hurts…”
“Who told you to move? Let me see where you’re hurt.”
Vi rushed to help Sephine up.
Her long hair was now trapped beneath her body, making her look like a crazed widow.
“To think you want to be a Mother when you’re still a baby yourself.”
“Is it any of your business what I’m like! I’m fine, I’ll walk myself!”
“Can’t you stop being so stubborn! Come back and sit down!”
Vi let out a loud shout.
Surprisingly, it worked.
Sephine obediently sat back down, her feet finally still.
“Your feet are so cold. Why are you dressed so lightly?”
“Clothes are too expensive. I forgot to bring money, so I only bought a few things for them.”
“Your life is so difficult, yet you didn’t think about going back to your… ex-husband?”
Vi helped Sephine with her shoes, only now realizing they were the ones she had gifted Sephine before.
She probably wore them because she didn’t have any other shoes at home that fit.
Sephine lowered her head, staring at the ground, answering haltingly.
“I don’t want to be a pet.”
“I don’t want to be a burden to her.”
Vi took off her trench coat and draped it over Sephine.
This thin clothing couldn’t withstand the cold night wind.
But at this moment, Vi suddenly wanted to talk to Sephine more.
“When the children grow up, I’ll send them back. Then I’ll return to my hometown and wait for death.”
“No.”
“Hehe, but there’s no other way, right? I don’t want to either.”
Sephine smiled foolishly at Vi.
Then she stood up and gave Vi a kiss.
“I know it’s you. Your disguise technique is terrible!”
Vi stared at Sephine.
The city’s Magic Lamps illuminated Sephine’s face and etched her silhouette into Vi’s eyes.
“It must be exhausting to constantly accommodate my emotions, right? It’s better if we’re apart. It’s better for both of us.”
“I’m not doing well at all. Can you come back?”
“No.”
“Why?”
Vi brushed the dust off Sephine and tidied her messy hair.
Sephine returned to being that cute young girl.
“Because we’re divorced~ dummy.”
“The Wedding hasn’t even happened yet, how can we talk about divorce? I even had the wedding dress made for you.”
“That kind of thing doesn’t interest me anymore.”
Sephine lightly bit her index finger and tapped it against Vi’s forehead.
“Look, now you have my Soul Imprint. You aren’t allowed to change your mind before I die.”
“Don’t keep talking about life and death. Aren’t you doing fine? I’m begging you, can we make up?”
“You’re always like this. You need to think more for yourself. Even without me, you still have to keep living, don’t you?”
“I’ll definitely find a way! If you just disappear like this, I’ll dig you up from your grave and resurrect you!”
“Dummy, you can’t do something like that. Come closer, I’m so cold.”
Vi moved closer.
Sephine stood right in front of her.
The white-haired girl gave a mischievous smirk and suddenly climbed onto Vi’s body.
“Forget me, okay? This is the last time.”
Sephine hugged Vi tightly and kissed her deeply.
The long-lost sweetness was like nectar, intoxicating.
Was Sephine drunk now, or was she sober? Only she knew.
After a long time, the two separated.
