Early in the morning, sunlight streamed through the window and hit Sephine’s eyes.
Her house was built in a good location, and its best feature was the excellent natural lighting.
However, she had to close the curtains at night; otherwise, she would be woken up by the sun like she was now.
“My head hurts… this is bad…”
Sephine ruffled her hair, trying to smooth it out.
There was no comb in the house, and she hadn’t bought one yesterday, so she had to use her hands to tidy her hair.
Her head throbbed with a dull ache as if she had been struck by a blunt object.
Sephine wandered downstairs in a daze.
This was the earliest she had gone to sleep in a long time; otherwise, she wouldn’t have woken up so early.
“Brush teeth… wash face…”
“Mother is awake! Hurry and clean this up!”
“I didn’t sneak any!”
“Who said you did? Just hurry and clean!”
Sephine was still lost in her own world, completely unresponsive to the voices outside.
After washing her face, she felt much more alert, and at the same time, she remembered some things from the previous night.
‘I’m never drinking again. I’m really not cut out for it.’
She seemed to have blacked out.
She estimated she must have drunk quite a lot.
Karin and Fala managed to tidy up the trash on the table and the floor before Sephine could react.
Originally, Karin had only been hungry and wanted to find something in the fridge, but then they discovered the cake Sephine had brought home.
Then, the cake was finished.
“Ugh — how did I get back? This is bad, I don’t remember anything.”
Sephine followed her usual route, relying on muscle memory to walk to the stove to prepare some food.
However, she kept hearing the clinking and clanging of things bumping together.
Had a mouse gotten into the house?
“No, she felt like she was forgetting something.”
“Mother, your shoe fell off.”
That reminded her.
She seemed to have forgotten the children.
Last night, she had been so focused on drinking her sorrows away that she ended up leaving the two of them alone at home.
Fortunately, they were still here.
“Thank you, Fala. Mother bought you new clothes. Now, where were they…”
This was bad.
Sephine seemed to have left the clothes at the pub.
This was going to be a hassle.
That pub didn’t open during the day, so she would have to wait until tonight to go and get them.
“Is it this?”
Karin pulled a large box from under the sofa.
It had been sitting on the living room table last night, but because it got in the way of them eating cake, Karin had placed it on the floor.
“Thank you, Karin!”
Sephine took the box and opened it.
Inside were two white wool sweaters and some other clothes.
“I’ll help you change in a little while.”
Now, she had to get herself something to eat and have some water.
“Knock, knock, knock.”
Someone was at the door.
If nothing went wrong, it should be Aglis.
Sephine opened the door with that thought, and sure enough, it was her.
Yesterday, Aglis said she came to catch up on old times, but even a dog wouldn’t believe that.
“The Demon King must have given her a mission; otherwise, why would she come so early in the morning?”
However, the Demon King really hadn’t come to look for her.
Perhaps she really had grown tired of this game.
Even though Sephine didn’t want Vi to come here in her heart, she still hoped to see her every time she opened the door.
Sephine couldn’t even understand her own twisted behavior.
“Good morning! Lady Sephine!”
“Why the new outfit today? Not bad.”
“Thank you for the compliment! Look, I bought breakfast for you, Lady Sephine!”
Aglis held up a bag containing several sandwiches, all in the flavors Sephine liked.
“She told you to buy them? I don’t want them.”
“What are you saying, Sephine? I just saw these on the side of the road and thought you might not have eaten, so I bought a few.”
Aglis was sweating bullets.
Why was Sephine so sharp that she guessed the origin of the food instantly?
However, she had guessed one thing wrong.
These weren’t bought; the Demon King had made them with her own hands.
Magic had been cast on them, so they were still hot.
“How did you know I liked these?”
“Ah? I didn’t expect to guess your tastes correctly on my first try! How lucky!”
Aglis’s every move reminded Sephine of a certain type of person from her past life.
“A simp.”
“Then just leave them there.”
“No problem!”
Aglis placed the items on the table and patted the head of the little girl with horns.
“Are you going to eat?”
Fala tugged on Aglis’s sleeve and called her to the side.
Karin, on the other hand, wasn’t being polite at all.
She grabbed a sandwich from the bag and stuffed it into her mouth.
Sephine was also a bit hungry.
Without saying much, she began heating up the milk she had bought yesterday.
“Sister Aglis, did the sister from last night tell you to bring this?”
Aglis gasped.
She didn’t expect that not only was Sephine shrewd, but even her newborn daughter was just as sharp!
This whole family was too strange.
Aglis nodded.
Seeing Fala like this, she didn’t seem to reject the Demon King.
There was hope! Starting with the children was a good strategy; Sephine clearly loved her children very much.
She was currently feeding the little girl with wings.
“Was her name Karin?”
Karin seemed to have quite an appetite.
“Then, I’ll ask you one question. You only need to nod to answer me.”
Aglis nodded.
“Is she Father?”
Aglis looked slightly surprised, but she still nodded.
“I know now! Thank you, Sister!”
Fala ran back to Sephine’s side and began eating breakfast with them.
Aglis was currently brainstorming how to help the Demon King win Sephine over.
Little did she know she had already gained a secret helper.
“Fala, what were you chatting about with Sister Aglis? You’re being so mysterious.”
Sephine helped her pour a glass of hot milk and tried to strike up a conversation.
“It’s nothing. I was just asking her where she bought these sandwiches. They smell delicious!”
“Is that so? Then Mother will buy them for you next time, okay?”
Sephine patted Fala’s head.
To be honest, Sephine still hadn’t learned how to interact with her children.
If she could have raised them from the beginning, they could have built a bond, but the children could speak and be mischievous from the moment they were born.
What was Sephine supposed to do?
She could only take it one step at a time.
“Miss Aglis, won’t you have some?”
“Me? I’ve already eaten!”
How would Aglis dare to eat?
If the Demon King found out she had eaten the breakfast made for her wife and children, her position as Captain would probably not last long.
Currently, all the tasks of the Knight Order Captain had been handed over to the Vice-Captain, who was her younger sister.
Aglis only hoped she wouldn’t exhaust herself.
“What should she do now?”
“Um, Lady Sephine, have you never thought about going back? Back to…”
“As I thought, did she send you? Please leave.”
If she spoke like that, she would only get that kind of answer.
The difficulty of this mission was truly too high.
It would be better to go fight on the front lines.
“Thank you for the gift you brought. Is there anything else?”
“I have some questions I’d like to ask you, Lady Sephine!”
